📍Man Commit Su***de After His Wife Donated Their Money To Church

A 45-year-old man identified as Rex Kondwani, has h@nged himself in Thyolo District in Malawi, after his wife gave a church K12,000 which they earned from gardening work.

Masambanjati police officer in-charge, senior superintendent, George Kaleso, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, said the incident happened at Muwalo village, Traditional Authority Changata in the district.

Kaleso said the couple was engaged to do gardening piecework and was paid K12,000 which was kept by the wife.

"Yesterday, when Mr. Kondwani asked for his share, the wife told him she had donated the money to their local church,” he said.

This led to an argument between the couple. The man was later found hanging from the roof of the church where the money was donated.

Su!cide cases have been on the rise in Malawi with 256 cases recorded in the fist half of this year.

Lionel Messi Is Heading To MLS, Decides To Join Inter Miami - Sports

Lionel Messi has reportedly decided to join Inter Miami, with Barcelona missing out on a homecoming deal for the World Cup winner.

WHAT HAPPENED? Messi will become a free agent when his contract at Paris Saint-Germain officially expires on June 30, with the club having confirmed his departure before their final game of the Ligue 1 season. Speculation over the 35-year-old's next move has intensified since then, with Barcelona publicly stepping up their attempts to bring him back to Camp Nou. Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal have also been pushing hard to sign Messi in recent months, but Guillem Balague has now revealed that he will be embarking on the next stage of his career in America.

THE BIGGER PICTURE: Inter Miami have won the race to sign Messi with the help of commercial partners Apple and adidas. The Athletic have reported that the World Cup winner is set to a share of revenue from Apple TV+'s MLS Season Pass, while adidas have offered him a profit-sharing agreement to strengthen their long-term relationship.

AND WHAT'S MORE: Messi's father admitted earlier this week that his son favoured a return to Barcelona, but their precarious financial situation ultimately made a final deal impossible. Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba have all left the club since the turn of the year, but Barca still need to reduce their wage bill significantly before they will be able able to register any new players. Al-Hilal, meanwhile, will have to wait until at least 2024 before reigniting their interest in Messi, with GOAL having revealed that the forward asked to delay a potential move to the Middle East while assessing his options after leaving PSG.

Tinubu Dodged A Poisonous Knife’, Shehu Sani Mocks El-Rufai Over Chief Of Staff, SGF Slots

A former senator who represented Kaduna Central at the 8th Senate, Shehu Sani, on Wednesday mocked the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai for missing out in the recent appointments made by President Bola Tinubu.

Daily Trust had reported that Tinubu appointed a former Governor of Benue State, George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation while the outgoing Speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila was appointed the Chief of Staff.

Akume, who was sworn-in by the President on Wednesday at the A*o Villa, had served during the second tenure of the former President Muhammadu Buhari as Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs.

Before Akume and Gbajabiamila were appointed, insinuations were rife in various quarters that the former Kaduna State governor would get one of the positions considering his closeness to the President during electioneering.

Reacting to the development, Sani, who was apparently referring to comments credited to El-Rufai on Islamisation agenda, said Tinubu had “dodged a poisonous knife” by scheming the former governor out of the two positions he described as “critical”.

“If Tinubu had appointed ‘Mr Over Sabi’ as SGF or Chief of Staff, he would have sown the seed of discord between the President and the Vice President, speak and move around as more important than the two. Tinubu has dodged a poisonous knife,” Sani said in a tweet on Wednesday afternoon.

El-Rufai was alleged in a trending video on social media to have said that the Muslim-Muslim ticket in the Kaduna governorship election would be sustained beyond 20 years in the state.

In the video, the former governor, who spoke in Hausa, also claimed that Muslim domination was being replicated at the national level, and that the victory of President Bola Tinubu had silenced his critics, particularly the Christian Association of Nigeria.

The first Professor of Geology in Africa, Jamiu Mosobalaje Oyawoye, is dead.

His death was confirmed by his son, Prince Olukitibi Oyawoye, on Monday evening. He was 96 years of age.

Born in Offa in Kwara state on August 12, 1927, Prince Oyawoye, the Aremo of Offa, served as a lecturer at the University of Ibadan between 1960 and 1977. He was appointed a professor in 1966 at the age of 39 and became the first Professor of Geology in Africa.

He also served as the Chairman of the West Africa Examinations Council.

Reacting to his death, the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in a condolence message signed by his spokesman, Rafiu Ajakaye, described Oyawoye’s death as a huge national loss.

The governor said the death of Africa’s first professor of geology was the end of a great era in academic accomplishments, dedication to community service, and statesmanship.

“My heartfelt condolences go to the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II, the Olofa-In-Council, the Muslim community in Kwara State for whom he was the Baba Adini, and the Oyawoyes on this sad development.

“Prof. Oyawoye was in a class of his own in philanthropy, academic accomplishments, community service, leadership, and support for national development. He was one of the last men standing, and his death represents a huge void in everything he represented for Offa people, Kwara State, and Nigeria.

“We find comfort in his fine legacies as the father of Geology in Africa, a powerful Crown Prince of Offa, and a statesman who wielded so much influence and deployed the same for public good. We beseech Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Al-jannah Firdaus, and keep his family on the right path,” ” the governor said.

On his part, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, described late Oyawoye as a “God fearing scholar who lived his life with full commitment and dedication to the propagation of Islam”.

In a condolence message issued by his spokesman, Abdulazeez Arowona, the Emir said, “He was as a kind-hearted and loving man of integrity and father to all and sundry. The late don raised the bar and promoted the images of Offa community, Kwara State and Nigeria at large with outstanding scholarship and reliable mentoring of generations.”

Also, the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Eswuoye II, in a condolence message said the deceased led a fulfilled life.

Accoridng to him, Oyawoye led a fulfilled life which has left behind a rich and enduring legacy, one that will inspire generations to come and that will continue to shape the future of humanity, science, and geology in Africa and beyond.

“Dear all, let us take a moment to honour his memory, to reflect on his life and his achievements, and to draw strength from his example. Let us continue the work that he began, and let us strive to make the world a better place, just as he did. In doing so, we will honor his memory and keep his legacy alive for generations to come,” the Olofa was quoted as saying in a statement signed by his Principal Private Secretary, Olayinka Kadri.

10. Shared Responsibility:
Husbands often take on shared responsibilities in raising children, managing finances, and supporting the family, while boyfriends may have less involvement in these areas.

11. Mutual Trust:
Trust is crucial in both relationships, but the level of trust and reliance tends to be higher between spouses compared to a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship.

12. Longevity:
Marriage is intended to be a lifelong commitment, while a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship may have less certainty about its duration and future.

It's important to note that relationships can vary greatly, and these differences may not apply universally to all husbands and boyfriends.

Brace up for another recession with significant adverse consequence — Pres. Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Nigerians to brace up for another recession, the second in four years.
Speaking while presenting the 2021 budget to the National Assembly for approval, on Thursday, October 8, the president noted that the Federal Government has, however, put in place plans to ensure rapid recovery in 2021.
“GDP growth is projected to be negative in the third quarter of this year. As such, our economy may lapse into the second recession in four years, with significant adverse consequences.
However, we are working assiduously to ensure a rapid recovery in 2021. We remain committed to implementing programmes to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty over the next 10 years.
As skills’ deficits limit employment opportunities in the formal economy, various skills’ development programmes are being implemented simultaneously to address this problem frontally.
For instance, the government is implementing the Special Public Works programme to provide employment opportunities to 774,000 youths across the 774 local government areas of Nigeria.
We have also recently introduced the N75 billion Nigeria Youth Investment Fund, of which N25 billion have been provided in 2021 Budget.
We thank all Nigerians, for your perseverance and continued support during these difficult times. We remain unwavering in our commitment to actualize our vision of a bright future for everyone,” he said.

📍I don’t support abortion — Man who impregnated his daughter after 4yrs of abuse
The Rivers State Police Command have arrested a 47-year-old father, Eromosele Muhmud, for allegedly impregnating his 16-year-old daughter.
The suspect, who was paraded on Thursday, said he has been sleeping with his daughter since 2017, when she was 12-year-old.
“This is a battle I have tried to fight over the years and it seems to be much bigger than me. I am not going to withdraw any fact or truth as far as this case is concerned.
If this is the only way my daughter can be liberated if I go to prison, then it is good. My happiness is that I am relieved even as I speak to you now.
I can’t really remember when it started, but like I told you, it’s more of a spiritual thing. It is very unusual for a father to be sleeping with his own daughter.
I am not a party to abortion, so whatever it is, the social welfare people and other government officials involved in this matter know the best way to handle this pregnancy; as a father, I cannot support abortion for my daughter, what if anything happens to her in the process.
I don’t r**e her regularly; it happens once or twice in a year; she used to be very cooperative, even when I don’t want it, she tries to force herself on me.”
When questioned, his daughter told officials of the Rivers State Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitations that her father always forced himself on her whenever he pleases him.
“It was my father who impregnated me; he started having s*x with me when I was 12-year-old till now.
The first time he came and lay with me on the bed, when I tried to scream, he told me to shut up that my mates were doing the same thing and anytime I refused to allow him, he would not buy anything for me and he would refuse to pay my school fees,” she said.

📍 Missing Lagos Nurse Found Chilling In Osun Hotel

A nurse, Ayomide Alao, who went missing in the Bariga area of Lagos State, has been found allegedly relaxing in a hotel in the Ipetumodu-Okoku area of Osun State.

While in the hotel, it was learnt that Ayomide allegedly refused to respond to calls and messages requesting to know her whereabouts.

It was gathered that the 28-year-old left the house for her workplace in Lagos on June 14, but did not return home, as calls to her phone rang out.

Worried by the development, it was learnt that the family conducted a search for her, which was futile.

Ayomide’s brother, Olabunmi, was said to have reported a case of missing person to the Bariga Police Division, where investigation into her disappearance commenced.

During the investigation, detectives traced her to Osun State, where she was found in a hotel.

When asked what she was doing in the hotel, a source revealed to our correspondent that Ayomide said she did not know how she got there.

“She didn’t give a concrete reason as to why she left home; she just said she went out and all of a sudden found herself there without any explanation as to how she got to the hotel. She also refused to pick her calls while in the hotel,” the source said.

PUNCH Metro gathered that during the investigation, the managers of the two hotels where she lodged during the period, said she was not accompanied by anybody when she visited their facilities.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, said Ayomide went missing for 14 days, adding that the case had been transferred to the Area H command for further investigation.

He said, “A case of missing person was reported at the charge room on June 16, 2020, around 10.40am by one Olabunmi Alao, of No 3, Amudat Abeke Street, Ajenipa, Ladi-Lak, Bariga, Lagos State, that his sister, Ayomide Alao, 28, of same address, dark in complexion about 5ft-4inch in height, who speaks English and Yoruba language, left home on June 14, 2020, around 8.30pm and did not return home.

“All efforts to trace her by the family proved abortive. During investigation, the missing nurse was located by detectives on July 3, 2020, at the Jolade Hotel in Ipetumodu-Okoko in Osun State.

“The managers of the Anis Hotel and the Jolade Hotel, where she stayed for 14 days while at Ipetumodu-Okoko town in Osun State, were also brought in with a view to establishing their level of culpability or otherwise. The case was transferred to the Area H Command Headquarters for further investigation.”
