📍||•Project of the Week: The Atelier, nestled amidst the rugged landscape of the Morna Valley in , is a transformed multifunctional space housed in old stables by .

Renovated to maintain its original charm while incorporating contemporary elements, this haven of peace blends old-world charm with modern comforts, offering a functional retreat for various purposes.

Inside, the space is adaptable, featuring a modern kitchen and versatile furniture. Outside, the wild countryside extends seamlessly into the garden, which is landscaped with native Mediterranean plants, reflecting the island's essence and beauty.

📍||•Befitted with all the convenient joys
of the city, this calm sanctuary, spanning over two floors in a 3,600-square-foot area, welcomes the tropical Goan glaze with a cool zephyr. Designer Vritima Wadhwa () of Project 810 () and Sahil Khatri () came together to materialise a place of "rest, reverie and reflection".

The more Vritima met with the clients, the better and the neater and more aligned the brief became. The brief handed to her envisioned a contemporary space grounded in traditional Goa-essentially four identical
villas with a delicate equipoise of style in a compound.

This helped Vritima carve shavings out of our own design ideology, which is “using a combination of earthy materials without making it look too crude-giving it a more natural aesthetic and avoiding layering that overclutters".

The original adobe structure, white walls, and generous openings to the outdoors create a relaxing and airy feel within the house.

reMIX studio: Futian High School Campus is a ground-breaking model of boarding school in the heart of Shenzhen, the most modern and dynamic Chinese metropolis. Its unicity comes from multiple factors: a context of extreme urban conditions, a very high density, and a program layout that allows most facilities to be shared with the neighbors, together make Futian Campus a prototype of "a new city within the city".

The context. In 1980, when Shenzhen was given the status of "special economic zone", the city was little more than a cluster of fishermen villages with a total population of 300,000 inhabitants in a strategic geographic position due to its extended coastline and its proximity to Hong Kong. Thanks to its special status the city has experienced the fastest process of urbanization in human history and nowadays it hosts almost 18 million inhabitants.

This unprecedented urban growth has had positive and negative effects: on the one hand, it has spurred the city to become the engine of Chinese innovation (both in social and economic terms); on the other hand, it has produced phenomena of hyper-densification due to scarcity of available soil - as a reference Shenzhen and Beijing have a similar population, but Shenzhen has only 1/8 of Beijing's area and lack of public facilities, particularly schools, which have not managed to keep up with the pace of growth of the rest of the city. To solve this deficit, in the last five years, the local government has built more than 200 new schools.

📍||•The project is located in the historic center of the city, with land facing the central square. The terrain is characterized by a front of just
2.85m, later expanding to 3.20m, with a total length of 18m. Choose one design that acts as an acoustic and thermal cushion, using 20cm sandstone structural walls and 8cm barrel vault.

Landscape integration in such an environment peculiar is achieved using the tides stone (stone site used in the construction of the church and many others local constructions) as the main element of the facade and with the design of the fence similar to the adjacent buildings. The color blue complements the original pastel tones that characterize the square and some of the most old ones from the place.

The house has alternating levels that optimize the utilization of space. On the ground floor, after the entrance, an open space is proposed where the kitchen, dining room and living room.
The ventilation and lighting of said space is guaranteed by this being open to the rear courtyard.

Construction materials and systems are local, reducing the carbon footprint. The structure is made with thermoclay walls and reinforced slabs of concrete, using fired ceramic vaults with biomass. Recycled cotton was used as thermal and acoustic insulation between walls and slabs,following the sustainable footprint of the rest of construction.

It was decided to leave the load-bearing walls exposed in some areas, with the same material and texture as the brick that dresses and characterizes the space, bringing more warmth and coziness to the residence’s environments.🌿💚💙

nature: Japanese charred-cedar cladding outside, White Oak finishes inside, and local Texas Limestone tying it all together-with plenty of glass to bring the outdoors in. Designed by Isaac French, the Nook is nestled under the trees in the forest just behind his
home in central Texas, with a floating wood deck cantilevered over the creek edge. Every single detail has been meticulously crafted, optimizing the space for function, pristine form, and efficiency.💚🌿

📍||•Despite the compactness of the interior space, the house provides all the necessary areas: a full-fledged kitchen-living room with a fireplace, a bedroom with access to a private terrace on the first floor and an unusual bedroom on the second floor.

The interior of the space is minimalistic
and functional. It allows guests to get a
non-traditional living experience.

SHUISHI: Situated in the eastern CBD of Longgang, Shenzhen, Shimao Shenzhen-Hong Kong International Center enjoys the unique urban landscape resources, with its exhibition center constructed earlier looking towards Longgang Universiade Green Park, its east side facing the future super-high-rise main tower (it might become China's tallest building), its north side close to the central green space, and its west side echoing with the landscape mountains. The exhibition center will take into account the functions of planning display,
commercial marketing, art exhibition, cultural activities, etc., and inject new vitality into the urban area. It will become the first business card of Shenzhen-Hong Kong International Center to the public.
The architectural design has combined modern science and technology with traditional culture, taking "Spiral Scroll" + "Layered Gardens" as the core concept: The spiral rising architectural form together with the LED transparent screen, has formed a hazy paper canvas, displaying a long roll of landscape pictures with national charm.the over hangings at different levels and directions have formed a multi-dimensional layered garden, echoing with the scenery in all directions.

📍||•Project of the Week: Casa Cono,
designed by for a young couple, offers a space for living, working, and daily routines in a woodland setting.

The design respects the natural terrain, integrating with the landscape and highlighting each tree. The structure consists of two layered and rotated rectangular volumes, optimizing views with translucent facades that connect the interior and exterior. Expansive windows frame the outdoor scenery.

The ground floor features public spaces, including a sheltered patio, kitchen, study, and a combined living, dining, and kitchen area. The upper level, accessed by an integrated staircase, houses the bedrooms. From the approach, the house appears weightless, gently
resting on the land. The entrance at the rear reveals stunning views, enhancing the sense of arrival.

📍Some Béton Brut by way of Italy with the Villa Gontero located in Cumiana, Turin, Italy and designed by architect Carlo Graffi and engineer Sergio Musmeci in 1969. Not a lot of interior photos unfortunately. Note that the red oval-ish door and spiral stairs are not the entry to the house. It's a shortcut from the highest level of the home to the outside and pool.
