This Friday from midnight is one we’re all familiar with. Or at least I thought I was. Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) was the guy in The Revenant who had his arse handed to him by a grizzly bear. Literally handed to him (and then his arse and much of his back was subsequently eaten by mama bear’s two cubs).
And he didn’t die.
We’ve all seen the movie, so we all know how it went. What wasn’t in the movie is even more astonishing than what was in movie.
Tune in to hear a very unique take on the legend that was Hugh Glass.

In The Origins Of Easter, we'll take you through some of the myths & traditions associated with the holiday.
Have you ever wondered why Easter is a thing?
And why now? Like, why this time of year?
Where are its origins to be found?

Turns out they’re to be found everywhere! Literally, everywhere! They form a belief system in every facet of every culture in some way shape or form.
And what’s with the Easter bunny, but more to the point, what’s with the Easter bunny and why eggs? Think that’s a recent thing? Nope. It’s been around a very long time.

Well, it turns out (again) that we have the answers to all of these questions and more. There’s even a Greek myth that manages to elbow its way into the conversation.

We have so much to get through in this episode and, it's not an egg-zageration to say, we've more fun & facts than you can shake a stick at.

Grab a cup of tea, some choclate Easter egg (a little early) and join us for a while..

In a little under 16 hours, The Origins of Easter drops. In the Mesopotamian legend Ishtar, their goddess of “gettin’ it on”, braves the underworld because she’s so grief stricken from the death of her lover. Damn, I wish I had somebody that committed!

It’s a legend that echoes across every culture of the world, even if that culture doesn’t have a goddess called Ishtar. Or maybe it does, she’s just got a slightly different name.

Join us for all of the answers, the arguments, the discussions and the laughs from midnight tonight.

The Bone Wars, also known as the Great Dinosaur Rush, was a period of intense scientific rivalry between paleontologists Edward Drinker Cope and Othniel Charles Marsh in the late 19th century. Both men were eager to discover and name as many new dinosaur species as possible, and their rivalry turned into a bitter and often unethical competition.

They (The Bone Wars), involved the discovery and excavation of numerous dinosaur fossils in the American West, particularly in states like Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana. Cope and Marsh spared no effort in outdoing each other, resorting to tactics such as bribery, theft, and sabotage to gain advantage in the field of paleontology.
Their rivalry ultimately led to significant advancements in dinosaur paleontology, but it also tarnished their reputations and strained the resources of scientific institutions. The Bone Wars came to an end with both men's financial ruin and damaged legacies, but their discoveries continue to contribute to our understanding of prehistoric life.

In a few hours (12 and 3/4 to be exact, the will be available for you to listen to. Join us as we dive into the crazy world of dinosaur-fossil hunting in 19th century America.
Through lawless towns & Native American owned land, two men and their dig-teams, bludgeoned their way through fossil sites, uncovering unique specimens of dinosaurs that lived tens & hundreds of millions of years ago, while destroying who knows how many others in the process?

All because they hated each other.

Join us from Friday at midnight to hear just how idiotic this rivalry was, and the depths of stupidity which it plumbed.

*Note in the images below, the fossil put the head on the wrong end. An embarrassment he would never live down. (Though, not to be outdone, put the wrong head on the wrong body of one of his fossils).

Just browsing through some of the images google throws up of rivalry between oul Marshy & Copey is pretty astonishing. The destructiveness and intensity of their contempt for each other must have made each of their lives a miserable existence. It certainly seems that neither of these men were enjoyable to be around.

Join us from Friday at midnight to hear just how unenjoyable both of these gentlemen were. Available everywhere you .

The Bone Wars, also known as the Great Dinosaur Rush, were a period of intense scientific rivalry between paleontologists Edward Drinker Cope and Othniel Charles Marsh in the late 19th century that could have easily been as catastrophic as it was beneficial. And it might very well have been.

Fueled by competition, greed, and a desire for fame, the two men engaged in a bitter feud to discover and unearth the most dinosaur fossils in the American West and undermine one another.

Their ruthless tactics and underhanded strategies led to the discovery of numerous new dinosaur species, but also tainted their reputations and left a contentious legacy in the world of paleontology.

Join us this Friday from midnight to hear all about a race that would have put the Wacky Races to shame (IYKYK😉).

This week’s episode is The Bone Wars, a 19th century race to discover and catalogue the fossils of ancient dinosaurs that once roamed the earth.

This was a race that propelled dinosaur archeology into the limelight but, at the same time, set it back decades.

The rivalry between Othniel Charles Marsh & Edward Drinker Cope also potentially destroyed specimens of dinosaur fossils that have been lost to oblivion.

Tune in this Friday from midnight to hear about a competition to outdo one another that has never been repeated (Thanks be to Jaysus)!

I saw this headline and nearly soiled myself (because Yosemite is spelled with a “Y” and so is Yellowstone. In my haste, all I read was “Yellowstone”, which is basically a big-ass volcano without the sloping sides as our volcano episodes attest - links are in the comments).

Breathed a (huge) sigh of relief when I clicked the link and read the bulletin and it was Yosemite, not Yellowstone and that the closure is due to a major snowstorm. (The link for this is also in the comments).

It’s still very serious but it could have been “global impact serious”, if you get my meaning. Isn’t it mad how our minds go to really dark places with only the scantest of information? I blame clickbait headlines.

This week’s episode is a very special one indeed. We discuss a lady who was a legend, an inspiration, a hero.

Harriet Tubman, who was the most famous conductor of the Underground Railroad (but certainly not the only one), rescued hundreds of slaves from southern states in the US, delivering them to freedom in the north and later on to Canada.

Join us this Friday from midnight as we celebrate one of the most courageous people in the history of the United States.
