At PocketGamer.biz, we happily sit between the world of business and consumer writing.

You can consider it 'biz-sumer' or 'consum-ness', if you like.

What that means in practice is that we write about the business of mobile games from the point of view of passion for mobile games.

We're not dry number crunchers (quite moist, actually).

Neither are we clueless fans, who write articles from the seat of the pants, heart on sleeve etc...

Best of both

In our view, the best mobile games require business and pleasure in equal measure, which is why we maintain this weekly Game of the Week feature.

It's where we'll highlight the titles we consider the most significant, hopefully in a positive way, but perhaps sometimes in a cautionary way too.

You'll enjoy or learn something from playing these games, maybe both.

Best Phone Controllers For Diablo Immortal
The products discussed here were independently chosen by our editors. GameSpot may get a share of the revenue if you buy anything featured on our site.

With Diablo Immortal now available for mobile devices, it's a great time to pair a controller with your iOS or Android phone. Though you can play Diablo Immortal with touchscreen controls, you can get an authentic console-esque experience by using a traditional controller or a dedicated phone controller. We've rounded up the best phone controllers for Diablo Immortal below. Our picks apply to other games, too. Whether you're streaming console games via Xbox Cloud Gaming or playing a new Apple Arcade title, there's definitely a controller out there that can improve your overall experience.

When it comes to picking the best phone controller for you, there are a lot of different choices to consider, from official pads that require mobile controller clips to third-party ones that don't. Fortunately, you probably already own a great controller that'll work with your phone, as both the official Xbox Wireless Controller and PS5 DualSense can be connected to an Android phone or iPhone via Bluetooth. Still, you may want to consider a mobile controller that's specifically designed for gaming on a phone such as the Backbone One or Razer Kishi.

There's a lot of variety here--some controllers connect directly to your phone's USB-C port, while others are Bluetooth-enabled. Some mobile controllers clip onto either side of your phone to resemble the Nintendo Switch's Joy-Cons, while others feel similar to a traditional console controller with a phone clip at the top. Whether you need an Android or iPhone controller, you'll find something to suit your needs here. If you're playing Diablo Immortal on a tablet, we recommend a conventional gamepad such as the DualSense or Xbox Wireless Controller.

Pokemon Go's Luminous Legends Y event kicks off tomorrow, May 18. The event is divided up into two parts and introduces a few new Gen 6 Pokemon to the game, including the Legendary Yveltal, which will be appearing in five-star Raids throughout the entire event. We've rounded up all the most important details about the event below.

Luminous Legends Y Part 1
The first part of the Luminous Legends Y event runs from May 18-24. During this portion, Pancham will make its Pokemon Go debut. The panda Pokemon will be hatching from Strange Eggs along with Qwilfish, Larvitar, Absol, Skorupi, Sandile, Scraggy, Pawniard, Vullaby, and Deino. Dark-type Pokemon such as Houndour and Carvanha will also be appearing in the wild more frequently, and you'll have more chances to catch Spritzee, Swirlix, and Goomy if you missed them during the Luminous Legends X event.

Additionally, Niantic will offer Team Go Rocket-themed Timed Research tasks during the first part of the Luminous Legends Y event, as well as some exclusive Field Research. Completing these tasks will lead to encounters with Dark-type Pokemon like Galarian Zigzagoon and Scraggy. Certain Dark Pokemon like Alolan Rattata, Alolan Grimer, Sneasel, Poochyena, and Stunky will also hatch from 7 km eggs, while Alolan Meowth and others will appear as Raid bosses.

Finally, Niantic is holding a collective challenge during the first part of the event. If players can collectively defeat 25 million Team Go Rocket grunts between May 15-23, the studio will offer a few bonuses during the remainder of the event. First, you'll earn triple the usual amount of XP for catching a Pokemon. Galarian Zigzagoon will also be available as a one-star Raid boss, and you'll have your first chance to find a Shiny Galarian Zigzagoon in the game.

Luminous Legends Y Part 2
The second part of the Luminous Legends Y event runs from May 25-31. During this leg of the event, Niantic will introduce Sylveon, Eevee's Fairy-type evolution, to the game. You'll be able to evolve Eevee into Sylveon by earning hearts with it when it's set as your buddy. Other Eevee evolutions like Vaporeon, Jolteon, Umbreon, and Espeon will also appear in three-star Raids.

Beyond that, many of the same wild Pokemon featured during the first part of the event will continue to appear in the wild, as will Eevee, Ralts, Spritzee, and Swirlix. Certain Fairy-type Pokemon (or Pokemon that eventually evolve into Fairy types) like Cleffa, Igglybuff, Togepi, and Azurill will also hatch from 7 km eggs.

Finally, there will be more event-exclusive Research tasks. Completing these will lead to encounters with Eevee and some of its evolutions. You can read more about the event on the official Pokemon Go blog.

In the meantime, the Luminous Legends X event is underway until May 17. As part of that, the Legendary Fairy Pokemon Xerneas is appearing in Raids for the first time. New Field Research tasks for May are also live through the end of the month.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 Battle Pass Rewards And All Cosmetics
By Mark Delaney on June 6, 2022 at 6:30AM PDT

A new season of Fortnite has arrived, and for some players, the best part is browsing (and eventually unlocking) the battle pass rewards and cosmetics. Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 is themed "Vibin'," which means this season's battle pass is full of characters who are slick and stylish, though not all of them abide by a good-vibes-only policy. For example, Darth Vader, this season's level 100 reward, has never been one to sit back and chill.

Thankfully, he won't need to, as this season you can unlock his Imperial March emote, which includes his intimidating walk and accompanying iconic music. Other standout emotes this season include Blowin' Up ("But first let me take a selfie") on Page 2 of the battle pass, as well as Steady (featuring the song Own Brand Freestyle by FelixThe1st and Dreya Mac) which you can unlock on Page 7 of the battle pass.

Battle Stars are back for the fifth consecutive season, perhaps signaling Epic has finally landed on a unlock system it prefers most of all. That means you'll have some agency in deciding which items you unlock first. As you complete earlier pages, subsequent pages will unlock, often even before finishing your earlier pages, meaning you can sometimes skip ahead to items you're eager to acquire.

The battle pass ends on September 17. At 15 weeks long, this season will go on a whole month longer than Season 2, meaning diligent players unlocking their daily and weekly challenges shouldn't have an issue grabbing all 100+ items shown here. Remember, the battle pass rewards not currently on display will be revealed soon, usually two weeks after launch. This includes the season's Super Level Styles which pile on the rewards up to tier 200. For more on the new season, don't miss the new weapons in Chapter 3 Season 3, map changes, and how to unlock Indiana Jones

Here's everything you can get in the battle pass this season. The only thing not pictured is the 1,000 V-Bucks--we expect you know what those look like. Which new character is your favorite?

Diablo Immortal Might Include A Never-Before-Seen Class
Spell descriptions, incomplete assets, and more point towards an unannounced Diablo Immortal class, the Blood Knight.

Diablo Immortal might include a never-before-seen class for the franchise called the Blood Knight, if assets and recent spell descriptions discovered in the game's Chinese client are to be believed.

As discovered and translated by Wowhead, the Chinese version of the Diablo mobile game includes 12 spell descriptions which describe abilities for an unannounced class. In addition to the spell descriptions, Wowhead also discovered an incomplete male character model as well as a sword that referenced the Blood Knight during the game's closed beta. The files also contain what looks to be a potential class crest icon for the Blood Knight.

Now Playing: Diablo Immortal Necromancer Trailer

If Blood Knight is indeed a class that will be revealed for the game, it will be the first brand-new class in Diablo Immortal and the first time the Blood Knight has appeared as a playable class in the Diablo franchise. Diablo Immortal's other classes--Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Monk, Necromancer, and Wizard--are all pulled from Diablo II or Diablo III.

The idea of a Blood Knight certainly fits in with the dark, gothic world of Diablo, and they have appeared in the franchise before in the form of NPCs. Two Blood Knights, Sir Gorash and Lachdanan, were once part of King Leoric's royal guard, with Lachdanan actually killing the king once he became insane following Diablo's corruption. Leoric would go on to become the Diablo III boss the Skeleton King, while Lachdanan can be found as a quest giver in Diablo I.

As for why the Blood Knight hasn't been officially revealed yet, there could be a number of reasons. According to Wowhead, it seems the Blood Knight has been in development since Diablo Immortal's alpha phase, so perhaps it's not quite ready for the spotlight just yet.

Diablo Immortal recently concluded its closed beta on January 7 and is currently slated to release in the first half of 2022. While Diablo IV never had an official release date, an Activision Blizzard earnings call last year revealed the game had been delayed and would be arriving later than originally planned. The game's delay came amidst the ongoing fallout from multiple sexual harassment and discrimination lawsuits and investigations at Activision Blizzard.

The Deep Dark is one of two new biomes in the Minecraft 1.19 update. It can only be found deep underground and is home to one of the new mobs, The Warden. If summoned, players will be given the Darkness effect, which limits player's vision

Inside the dark depths, players will find Sculk Blocks, Sculk Veins, Sculk Shriekers, Sculk Sensors, and Sculk Catalysts. The Deep Dark biome is also the only place that Ancient Cities can spawn.

Ancient Cities
Ancient Cities can only be found in the Deep Dark biome and contain chests filled with rare items. Just be sure to watch out for the Sculk Sensors so that you don't summon The Warden!

The Warden
The Warden resides in the Deep Dark biome and can be summoned by Sculk Shriekers. This is an aggressive mob that relies on its sense of smell and hearing to locate its enemies.

Mangrove Swamp
Mangrove Swamp
The Mangrove Swamp is a new biome in The Wild update and is home to a handful of new items. While exploring, players will be able to find new things like Mangrove Trees, Leaves, Logs, Planks, Propagule, Logs, Roots, Moss Carpets, and Propagules.

This new biome is also home to one of the new mobs, the Frog.

Frogs are one of three new mobs in the Minecraft 1.19 update and can be found in the Mangrove Swamp biome. They are a passive mob that can be grown from Tadpoles, which are another new addition to the game.

Froglight
Froglight
Froglights are a new decorative piece that emits a bright light. There are three different kinds that are all created when a frog eats a Magma Cube. So far, players can get Ochre (Swamp Frog), Pearlescent (Tropical Frog), and Verdant (Snowy Frog) Froglights.

Razer Kishi V2 Represents Real Competition For Backbone
Razer's Kishi V2, which is out today for Android devices, is an impressive controller for mobile devices.

Mobile devices are increasingly becoming genuine competitive gaming machines, but there is one undeniable hurdle phones just cannot overcome. Many styles of games simply don’t feel as good to play on a touchscreen. To counter this complaint, video game accessory manufacturers have been competing to see who can sell the best solution. Generally speaking, the Backbone One (which is not yet available for Android devices) has been the go-to phone controller for a number of compelling reasons, but Razer’s Kishi V2, announced and launched today for Android devices, gives it some real competition.

No Caption Provided
Kishi versus Kishi V2
As implied by the V2 in its name, the Kishi V2 is a follow-up to its 2020 Kishi mobile phone controller, which was a solid phone controller that GameSpot ranked highly on its list of the best mobile phone controllers. The follow-up makes a number of smart changes and improvements, as well as a few minor questionable changes.

This biggest and most notable change is the addition of a full bridge. The bridge is the connective piece joining the left and right sides of the controller. The original Kishi used a foldable piece of rubber that allowed it to collapse into a portable square when not in use. Making the controller compact when not playing was nice, but it made connecting and removing your phone from the controller a little tricky, and it felt a somewhat flimsy while in use.

The bridge on the Kishi V2 is a solid piece of retractable plastic (like its greatest competition, the Backbone One), and it makes it easier to insert your phone into the dock and feels more solid while you’re playing.

The retractable bridge makes a big difference.
The retractable bridge makes a big difference.
The Buttons
The Kishi V2 also adds a number of additional buttons, but does so in a way where it does not feel excessive. Along with the options and share buttons on the left side of the controller, and the menu button on the right side, there is also a dedicated Razer Nexus button.

Razer Nexus is Razer’s dedicated iOS and Android software that works in tandem with the controller and lets you organize your games and launch them from a single application. The app also allows you to access YouTube or Facebook streaming capabilities and controller settings. During my time with the controller, I was not able to test out Razer’s new dedicated software, but it is optional and does not feature a subscription, which is the case for comparable associated controller apps.

The M1 and M2 buttons manage to be both accessible and out of the way.
The M1 and M2 buttons manage to be both accessible and out of the way.
The other additional buttons that have been added–which has the potential to be the main feature separating it from its competitors–are third and fourth additional shoulder buttons, which are called M1 and M2. These buttons are set next to the L2 and R2 triggers and will be programmable for various games. What makes them so good is they are as easy to press as they are to ignore. They are completely out of the way of the main shoulder buttons and unlikely to be accidentally pressed, but are easy to reach when you want to engage them. I like these additional buttons so much that I wouldn’t mind seeing them on future standard console controllers. I find them easier to use and more comfortable to press than the back paddles that are becoming increasingly popular on high-end console and PC controllers.

Outside of those additional buttons, the layout will be familiar to anyone who has held an Xbox controller. The analog sticks are offset and have a small field of movement, but feel good and function as buttons when you click them. The L1 and R1 buttons are standard shoulder buttons, while L2 and R2 function as triggers. The L2 and R2 buttons also have a small field of movement, but still feel good. The D-pad and face buttons (and the various menu buttons) all click in a satisfying and responsive way. None of the buttons feel mushy, and the only potential complaint you could levy against them is they might be easy to press by accident, especially considering how small they are. This was not my experience, but I could see it being an issue for larger hands.

One barely noticeable downgrade from the original Kishi is the A/B/X/Y buttons are no longer colored. Colored buttons are, admittedly, not something you think about while playing a game. The best controllers are designed in such a way where you don’t look at them at all, but I just prefer a dash of color on my controllers, and the Kishi V2 is strictly white and black.
