15 YEAR OLD BOY ALLEGEDLY SHOT DEAD BY ZNS OFFICERS

A 15 Year Old Boy of Kankoyo Township in Mufulira District on the Copperbelt, has died after allegedly being shot by officer from the Zambia National Services –ZNS.

The deceased has been identified as Chrispin Bunda, a pupil at Twampane Primary School.

A Mafken FM News crew that, rushed to Ronald Ross Hospital where he was taken after the incident, found family members of the deceased and an irate mob, being watched carefully by Police officers in full riot gear, as the body of the deceased was being taken into the mortuary.

Some residents talked to by Mafken FM radio say the incident started when ZNS Officers allegedly went to the township to confiscate mealie-meal at a shop belonging to a named individual suspected of being involved in the smuggling of the commodity into neighbouring DRC.

And an eye witness, Maureen K***a says the happenings caught the attention of some Kankoyo residents who questioned the move by the Officers.

Ms. K***a further narrates that, it was at this point that shooting ensued which led to the deceased who was watching the happenings from a distance get shot in the chest.

And the Father to the deceased, only identified as Mr. Bunda has told Mafken FM radio that his child was shot after he was sent to buy some food stuffs at the shops.

Meanwhile, the deceased Grandmother, Carol Chola has demanded for justice following the demise of her grandson, stating that it is sad, that after allegedly shooting her grandson ZNS officers left his body at the scene but instead carried the confiscated Mealie Meal.

The Police are yet to issue a statement on the matter.

42 YEAR OLD MUFULIRA MAN ARRESTED FOR DEFILING HIS 7 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER

A 42 year old man of Kawama West Compound, in Mufulira District on the Copperbelt has been arrested for in**st after he was found having carnal knowledge of his daughter.

Speaking in a statement issued to Mafken FM radio, Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba has disclosed that, the suspect identified as Luke Chanda aged 42 of house number BC 158 in Kawama West was caught in the act defiling his 7 year old daughter.

Mr. Mweemba says details of the matter are that, on April 18, 2023, the suspect invited a friend to his house, who is the complainant as he stays with his children only, because he is separated from his wife.

He notes that, whilst asleep, the complainant heard the girl crying in the other bedroom and upon entering it to check what was happening, he found Chanda having carnal knowledge of his daughter.

Mr Mweemba says the complainant thus, secretly reported the Matter to Kamuchanga Police Post in the morning of 19th April 2023 and Officers immediately launched a man hunt for the suspect who was believed to be working in town in one of the shops.

He says officers found the suspect and apprehended him, and the victim was issued with a medical form and taken to hospital where the results came out positive.

Mr Mweemba says a docket has been opened and the suspect arrested.

: Joseph Mumba has been found dead

THE Mufulira-based A+ medical student of the University of Zambia who went missing on Sunday morning has been found dead, his aunt has confirmed.

Joseph Mumba aged 21 was due to travel from the Copperbelt to Lusaka on Monday for his second year at the Great East Road campus after a brilliant academic showing in the first year.

However, Joseph walked out of his home around 10:00 hours on Sunday without telling anyone where he was going and had not been seen or heard of since.

His worried aunt Monica Chisanga reached out to Kalemba this morning saying her nephew had been unreachable by phone and that his last seen time on WhatsApp was 12:59 on the very Sunday he left home.

Monica described Joseph as a quiet, intelligent and and good boy who was moved to study medicine by the desire he has to help people especially when they are their weakest point.

She appealed to anyone with information about the whereabouts of the former Mufulira Secondary School pupil to contact her.

But this evening, Monica told Kalemba that Joseph had been discovered dead
in Kansuswa Forest around 17:00 hours.

"Through this platform (Kalemba) Joseph Mumba was found dead in the forest by a police officer," Monica said.

"It looked to be su***de, I am really broken," added Monica.

AN 18 YEAR OLD GIRL R***D BY TWO MEN IN MUFULIRA

An 18 year old girl of Mufulira’s Chibolya compound has been r***d by two men.

Brief facts are that on New Year’s Eve December 31,2022 at about 20 hours, the victim Blessings Chibesa went to mwansanga bar in Francis mukuka township to enjoy her new year festive in the company of her friends.

Whilst at the bar, she started drinking beer as she was later joined by four male persons who started drinking beer with them of which she can only identify two .

But on January 1, 2023 at about 02 hours, the victim decided to go home and one of the male persons she was drinking beer with asked if he can es**rt her but she refused.

She started off walking going home since her home is not far from the bar but when she walked a few meters away from the bar, she was followed by the four men she was drinking beer with.

Two of them grabbed her and later took turns in ra**ng her. After that, they all ran away.

Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Peacewell Mweemba who confirmed the incident to Mafken FM radio says the victim sustained general body pains.

Mr. Mweemba says with the help of members of the public, she managed to reported the matter at kamuchanga police post, and was issued with a medical report form.

A docket has since been opened and investigations are on going.
