New Year: Governor Fintiri Advocates Peace, Harmony

Adamawa State Governor the Rt.Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has called on Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness, love, reconciliation and re-dedication to the service of God and humanity in the year 2022.

"The end of the year and the beginning of a new one provides us all with an opportunity for reflection and introspection as well as to plan. But most importantly, it is a time to give thanks to the Almighty God for the gift and for His care and provision to all of us".

While wishing the people of Adamawa State a happy, safe and prosperous 2022, the Governor noted the plans and efforts they made in the past year hoping it yields bountiful fruit.

"We thank God for bringing us safely to the end of an eventful year. As we celebrate the end of an extraordinary year, and look forward with hope to personal, State and National progress in 2022, I urge you to be more committed to the Adamawa project and support our plans for the economic development of the State as we intend to do more in terms of infrastructural renewal, human capital development and welfare of our people".

While thanking the people of the State for their support over the past two and half years, Governor Fintiri commended the citizenry for their patriotic partnership.

He said in the last two and half years, the Government has worked hard to hasten progress in the State by laying the foundations for the kind of economy required by young, educated and ambitious people.

"What a year it's been, and we're just getting started. Together, we are making Adamawa great again".

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri commended the resilience of the people during the year. He said "Looking back on the achievements and milestones made in the course of 2021, I know that there are those amongst us who have had a very difficult year, either economically or through personal tragedies such as the loss of loved ones or those battling illnesses and other troubling situations. To you, it is my hope and prayer that the New Year will usher in better days for you and for all of us".

The Governor noted especially the commitment of healthcare givers as the world battles the Omicron virus and encouraged people to be vaccinated against the pandemic.

"We must accept that despite the progress there are still challenges that we must overcome. By uniting in accepting our challenges, we would form the basis not for division but rather a clarion call of how we must move ahead in order to turn challenges to opportunity and prosperity". Governor Fintiri said.

WE'RE BUILDING 5000 CLASSROOMS, STOP SPREADING FAKE NEWS ON OUR PROJECTS - GOVERNOR FINTIRI URGES YOUTHS

Recently, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri urged youths in the state to stop peddling fake news on some projects of the present administration. He gave the advice while receiving the Nuhu Ribadu Support Group who shifted their loyal and defected to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Adamawa.

The governor is worried by the way and manner some energetic youths allowed themselves to be used by some cheap-attention- seeking politicians to misinform the masses instead of using their intelligence and wisdom through constructive criticisms to government via appropriate channels.

This misinformation and fake news are spread with regards to laudable projects of government. Notably, the construction of 5000 classrooms, 2000 houses and flyover Bridges- projects that would add value to the state, but being misinterpreted by enemies of the state with a view to gaining and cheap political relevance.

This, the Governor said is worrisome as some of these youths interchanged the 5000 classrooms with schools and thus misinforming the public while criticizing that the state does not have the capacity to provide the infrastructure while also twisting information on the good intentions of the government on the project. The youths might have been sponsored by some political bigwigs who do not mean well for the present administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

Let truth be told, Governor Fintiri has approved construction of the 5000 classrooms in primary schools across the state and the project is ongoing. This is not surprising as the governor never mince words on the issue of developmental projects which is the nexus of the administration.

The story is the same, on the provision of 2000 housing project. Since flagging off this gigantic project, by the governor, some disgruntled politicians have been having sleepless nights for fear of the unknown. It is evident that when completed, Governor Fintiri would have written his name in gold in the game of Adamawa.

They fear Governor Fintiriโ€™s new thinking will further endear him to the people.
The attacks and criticism are not surprising as Fintiri the enigma will pull unprecedented number of supporters to himself.
Little wonder they continue to sponsor biased reporting on conventional and social media platforms on the project expected to gulp 9billion naira that has already been approved by the state Assembly.

These same unpatriotic Adamawa citizens keep telling innocent masses that the whole project is a charade aimed at deceiving unsuspecting Adamawa people as the money approved was a connivance with the state Assembly to loot. All these are distractions to tannish the image of the administration and personality of the Governor.

No doubt, the project is one of it's kind in the state and is coming at a time when Adamawa faces housing and infrastructure deficit. Governor Fintiri deems it necessary to provide civil servants with houses in line with his promise and one of the cardinal objectives of his administration.

To others, the proposed flyover Bridges to be built in three different locations in the state capital will not happen. The naive youths believe the state capital is not ripe for that. They are of the view that The capital city does not need such infrastructure at the moment, "we are not yet developed for such roads" among other faulty comments they make.

Suffice it to say that their thinking is wrong and calculated to pull Government back to the dark ages. But the question is where is the place of critical thinking for the future? The intention of the Fintiri Government is a future capital city as administrations before him have neglected the idea.
Adamawa state and its people are known for giving leadership and direction and Governor Fintiri says heโ€™s in government to make a difference through building a modern Adamawa for the next generation.

At each given opportunity to interact with the people, he has always call for understanding and the spirit of team work to leave Adamawa better than how he met her.

The Governor said โ€œI am building the flyover Bridges for Adamawa of tomorrowโ€

Finally, the call by the governor for youths to stop spreading fake news is timely. This is because misinformation can be very difficult to correct and may have lasting effects even after it is discredited. One reason for this persistence is the manner in which people make causal inferences based on available information about a given event, project or outcome.

As a result, false information may continue to influence beliefs and attitudes even after being debunked if it is not replaced by an alternate causal explanation. Therefore, it is imperative for our youths to shun spreading fake news and use their talent to assist the government where necessary. The responsibility of building Adamawa is ours collectively.

PRESS RELEASE

The Adamawa State Government has imposed a lockdown throughout the State for another period of fourteen (14) days with effect from midnight Friday April 24th 2020 and to end on Friday midnight 8th May 2020.
