Ala Moana Center had a two-night concert with Common Kings (July 4-5, 2024) and I got to check out the Friday, July 5th date. I continue to say, "I'm learning how to..." with my camera as no two days and nights have identical conditions, even in an enclosed space.

This night was lovely to me! Mostly, it was seeing Ala Moana Center in the evening with live music in a fully open setting :) Also, I really enjoy Common Kings live and getting a chance to experience Spawnbreezie, Fia, then a quick cameo of Willz during Spawnbreezie's set (I got to the event during Fia's performance and missed Willz...)...

My friend and I planned to go bowling on Saturday.By that I mean I suggested we get out of our respective routines and maybe go bowling. It would be an activity where we'd need to change our footwear - always a signal of movement to me.There are maybe three bowling alleys open to the public on Oahu....

Culture Club played their first ever Hawaii music concert in June 2016 at the Blaisdell Arena.

Ahead of that, I did a phone interview with bassist Mikey Craig. Amazing! While we spoke, I had an image of him through all the years of watching him and his bandmates in music videos on MTV and other music video programs through the 1980's, 1990's...

The week of their concert, I was scheduled to do another phone interview with Culture Club's lead singer-songwriter Boy George. When I have the chance to speak with someone or meet irl, I know it's 50/50, as life events happen.

Thankfully, the call went through a bit after it was slotted and Boy George was generous to chat with me for about 20 minutes. For me, when a Guest is new or a seasoned veteran, they are sharing their most precious commodity: Time.

In January or so, I heard a podcast about digital degradation. While so many video programs of a certain era (1980's through some of the 2000's) were captured, the formatting or scale of the screen was seemingly in flux.

The bubble-back TV sets of yore were being replaced by flatter screen with pixels versus...idk what they are called. Not all shows translated visually. Cool thing is there are folks who have an industry created in upscaling those items for future views.

This video has not been updated hahaha the audio is pretty good for how it was taken (iPhone?) and offloaded. Now to retrieve the interviews...

Lisa D followed her bliss when she discovered pop music on the radio.

Before digital presets, a kid was never allowed near the radio dial - a literal button or toggle switch to turn and adjust where the radio station signal was on a listening appliance.

Like many rebels of a certain age hahaha small kid time Lisa waited until her Dad went to work before trying to search for another radio station to listen to. Once she discovered Pop music (in the era of rock and roll with Motown), she also started calling the radio station to talk to the various On Air personalities...another layer of "wow!" for Lisa D.

I had a quick chat with musician-singer-songwriter AJ Croce. He's got crazy deep knowledge about all kinds of music, the players for various sessions, and he just seems to enjoy being in the world!

My new: going to a bee farm :) I Love visiting the North Shore and it was a real treat getting smoked out...and by that, I do mean the smokers that are used for mellowing the beehives!

Owner Stanislav leads the tour of Hi Honey Farm in Haleiwa and it was quite enjoyable 🐝! I've wanted to see how bees make honey and more so, how beekeepers keep safe - we did that, safety suits, gloves, and mesh masks! hahaha yes, I had a fun time 😁

(March 29, 2024) Educational tour with owner Stanislav Abdullin of Hi Honey Farm in Haleiwa, Oahu. Learned the science before getting bee-suited up to see their apiary (beehives!) up close. Tasty samples followed and I even picked up a couple of jars of honey!

Carrie Underwood is performing live in Honolulu on July 19, 2024 at the Blaisdell Arena (yes!) and it'll make it her 50th state to do a concert 🌺

A few things fun finds: Hawai'i Pre-Sale is for one week (10 a.m. March 16th to 9 a.m. March 23rd, 2024) and it's for Hawai'i residents. There's a way you can "Buy Now, PayPal Later" or use Klarna to manage payments over time before the July concert.

Still figuring out what I'll do with my videos and when I'll return to Japan :) While my first visit was a whirlwind, it was beautiful - food was amaze, the people were pretty much like in Hawaii with a mix of awesome! cheeky! silly! serious! and playful personalities. I'm so glad many Japan folks enjoy visiting Hawaii, too...

(October 2023) Amazing how the mood of the neighborhoods change with one train stop! This was actually several stops and a bit of walking around to reach Harajuku-Aoyama.
