In a city, you must fight to survive.
It's really hard to afford a high quality of living here, but the moderate life is acceptable to me.

The most exciting thing about Dubai is the diversity. It accepts people from all over the world, whatever your nationality, religion, color, beliefs or background.

I've moved to Dubai recently and I'm not impressed by the flashy lights, maybe because I've been here before? or maybe because I don't care at all.

I consider myself as a lucky person because my close friends are living in the nearest city to Dubai, but I still miss my family and our warm moments together.

Life is, However, It's a good opportunity for me to start a new life and learn from the last failures.
I want to find new friends, new activities and renew my passion again to live this life as a middle eastern man.

When you grow up in a cultural community that’s revolved around a certain way of living life, you don’t have much room to grasp the need to step away from it, let alone actually move.

I mean, why would you? You have a bunch of friends you probably grew up with for years, a family that would still give you all the care in the world no matter how old you get, a path of life already set for you and everyone around you. Your life is basically all planned out until you‘re resting under soils. And then it hits you...

Is that really it? I guess at that exact moment, you either have the guts to completely change your life or get deeply sucked into that 'comfort zone'.

I left everything, house, job, parents, friends, thinking everything will be awesome. After a while I had to rethink everything. It's been more than 5 years since and I'm still here. All I can say now is that I feel relieved I am in Dubai and I love this city. Meanwhile I beat cancer, I beat an autoimmune disorder and I had to find strength to begin to live a completely new life. And after all I feel blessed and lucky and stronger and I met my true best friend, the sister I have never had...

-Would you mind if i take a picture of you?
-Not at all, what do you want me to do? Check my phone for example?
-Oh, you’re good at this!
-Haha yeah... I get featured in a lot of Photoshoots.

I'm constantly being told that Dubai has changed me and that "home" awaits me.

I now walk the streets at 3am without having to catch tiny glimpses over my shoulder every few seconds.
I now express myself without the fear of an opinion ending up in a physical altercation.
I now walk into a house that has warm and inviting smiles inside.
I now have the confidence, the trust, the drive and the knowledge to build a life that consists of stability.

Dubai has changed me, but it is the type of change I have been seeking all my life.
This is home.

“I guess living here makes you appreciate some alone time more.
Sometimes you just need to go out for a cup of coffee by the beach and some relaxing music or a book to read and just recharge so you can get back up, and continue hassling around until your next ‘recharging retreat’.

“Is home really home when you can’t build a life? You are infatuated with its soil, you take pride in its culture, and you are mesmerized by its hospitality..and yet you find your self itching to leave, aimlessly searching for a new life because your home couldn’t give you that...it’s funny how resilient a human being can be, you find your self in a new home away from home...you sleep better at night, you work hard and you play even harder. Yet deep inside you still feel like a stranger in your new home...because nothing will ever be as heartwarming as my homeland, even if it can’t give me a life.”

“Is it better to have loved and lost, then never to have loved at all? Hell no. That is such a load of crap (I had to restrain myself to be polite, so as not to offend the virgin ears out there. I also did not want my editor to wring my neck off). Falling in love makes you vulnerable, yet never stronger. You are deliriously happy, like you are the world’s reigning queen. Falling in love makes you prone to ridicule, self-loath and heartache. When your bubble of euphoria is burst, you are left with nothing but a gaping hole inside your very soul and heaps of shards of your broken heart to pick up and somehow glue back together.
So, I ask again how could it really be better to have loved and lost, then never to have loved at all?”
