Even though ‘in the grand scheme’ Australia tour was cut short, over 1000 dollars was still raised for the ‘A Ride to Happiness’ fundraiser.
Thank you so much to everyone who bought a ticket to one of his shows and supported him and mental health.
I’m gutted I didn’t get to see him play with and .devlin_ . That’s a real bloody dream team right there.

Off the back end of such a high yesterday, we have cycled straight into a covid-19 ridden low. With all the latest updates and restrictions being announced and implemented across Australia we have no choice but to postpone the ride. Andy and I are absolutely devastated by the decision and we both hope this blows over soon and we are back on the road quicker than you can say ‘corona’. It would be selfish and ignorant for us to keep travelling around thinking this isn’t happening.
BUT this is by no means a cancellation. The Guinness World Records guidelines state that, with valid reason, we can postpone for longer than 14 days and with a global epidemic on our hands I think there is no more of a valid reason.
Our plan for now is to drive across into the Victorian border to seek refuge and find means of staying financially afloat until more information is released over the coming weeks on the state of emergency and isolation procedures.
Everybody stay safe and happy. Don’t let this pandemic get you down. Get creative and turn this negative into a positive.
Much love from the Happy Monday Co boys.
P.S : we will be stepping up our socials during this time with banter to keep people entertained so stay tuned 🤙

This beautiful soul / really stepped into our lives at the right time. Besides from providing great banter and Uber services while our Van was broken in Byron, she has also just prepared a fully plant based 3 page meal plan and shopping list to compliment.
I was a little bit oblivious up until I saw what Jessie had prepared about how many calories I actually had to consume to not fade away to a stick, also not to mention the variety of plants I need to consume to get the necessary vitamins and minerals for a journey like this.
If we didn’t have Jessie I would have ridden straight into a calorie deficient nightmare so thank you so much / for catching me before I fell.
(Jessie is studying nutrition at uni and believes in using correct diet and micronutrients to heal. She has a passion for it like I have never seen and is really inspirational to talk to! Go suss her pages out and indulge in her foodalicious content)

Last week we stumbled across this authentic pizzeria in Ballina, NSW. Greeted with great friendly service upon entry, we knew we were in for a treat. Patrick (the owner) was very accommodating for Dan's plant based diet & Andy's chicken friendly diet, both of which were delicious (as you'd expect from a man who's made pizzas for over 40 years!) We spent a bit of time in Pat's shop getting to know each other, but by the end of it hadn't really explained why we were in Ballina.. which called for a business card! Little did we know the story behind 'A Ride To Happiness' resonated so much with Pat, he contacted us the next day for a personal sponsorship to help us get through the next few months on the road! A huge thank you from Happy Monday Co & if anyone is in the Ballina area - go see Pat for a pizza and a bloody good laugh!

Shoutout to the support vehicle driver / sherrin lover / socialite
Andy has postponed working away as an electrician to come on this journey. He has taken on quite the job and his bloody hard work is not going un noticed.
If you see him around don’t be afraid to give him a shoulder massage. He really enjoys them.
We are currently in Yamba about to leave for another leisurely cycle 🤙

How to waterproof & rebuild a van in under 30 seconds - Back on the road tomorrow.

12/02/2020

The start to the ride has proved to be a test of patience and water integrity.
We have made it to Byron but that is where we are stuck due to the region seeing the most rain it has seen in 20 years!
With a gnarly van leak and no sign of the weather slowing up we are stuck in a massive queue of people trying to get their vehicles fixed.
A minor speed bump in the trip and a slight blow to the financials, but we are looking to be leak free in the Van tomorrow.

This was the final night before we realised we had a massive water integrity issue in the van.
Yesterday at Brunswick we woke up to a pool of water through about 10k worth of electrical gear.
We attempted to fix it yesterday but last night again a heap of water came in the van leaving us with no dry clothes at all.
The van is booked in at a Byron smash repairs joint for Monday.
Our first of many hurdles to come.

Sorry for the lack of updates crew. It’s been an absolute bloody run around lately.
Tomorrow I am only doing a small ride to Byron so I should have all day to throw together a proper update video, but until then let me waste your time with a short clip of Andy wasting my time. He made me put the tent up after I had just packed it away to look for my phone. Didn’t say a word until tonight. So in retaliation I Instagram lived a scare available for viewing in the story 🤙 please enjoy both forms of media

UPDATE: are somewhere near canberra still driving over to Brisbane. We have driven the route that I plan to ride and so far so good!
Spent a night in Melbourne with .com.au where he and his partner Kelly hooked me up with so much knowledge and gave a good look over the bike. Seeing him in his shed working on the Penny Farthing was bloody great. He’s a true craftsman with so much passion and one of the most helpful blokes I’ve ever come across.
The start of the ride is looking good for the end of Jan possibly start of feb, but I will give a solid date in a few days :)
Hope everybody is having a great morning.
Much love x

, a dear friend of has just announced something huge! On his upcoming “Grand Scheme” Australia tour he will be donating 1 dollar from every ticket sale! With the tour shaping up to be his largest yet, the contribution to the fundraising along with him being a strong advocate for Mental Health and raising awareness at all of his shows makes him a massive idol of mine in regards to Mental Health.
was the first person I felt comfortable to open up to about my struggles and he is forever inspiring others to do the same.
I can’t thank you enough big fella ❤️
Keep an eye on his socials for updates on when he will be touring through your town and be sure to get a ticket. His shows are always an amazing vibe 🤙
Much love, and HAPPY MONDAY

UPDATE : Mum called and cut the video short annoyingly.
In short- eyre Highway was closed. Good news - it has re opened this morning. Which means we are able to drive over east.
Bad news- hurt something in me back yesterday. Just finished up at physio. Turns out he thinks it is some minor hip thing and he reckons it’ll be alright to leave by Sunday/Monday.
All good in the hood. The ride will go on. Just with a few slight uncontrollable delays.
Hope everybody is well 😀

Christmas was called coldnipmas this year as somewhere between 100-150 friends turning family took to Leighton beach for .
The casual dip that takes place at a different beach every week on a Wednesday (followed by coffee and yarns) is a great way to get out of your comfort zone, meet new people and make some new friends.
I have no idea why but the first time I went I felt a little bit nervous. A sober meetup at 0545 in the morning to convert with a bunch of people I’ve never met (beside a couple) wasn’t exactly the norm for me. I was a tad unsure to say the least.
Fast forward to Christmas Day where I am excited to get down to the beach, meet new people, chat to strangers and regular cold nippers all while getting salty and watching the sunrise.
has fast become one of the things I look forward to most each week and is a classic example of keeping an open mind and trying new things even if they make you feel uncomfortable as is may turn out to be one of the things you look forward to most each week.

Last Thursday I had my debut telly appearance to talk about the ride. Let me know how you think I went 🤙

13/12/2019

Come and settle in for an evening where the music is being played for a very special reason. Michael Dunstan, Jordy Maxwell and friends (TBA) will be playing to raise money for Happy Monday Co, who’s aim is to raise 1 million dollars for 6 different Mental Health organisations by riding a Penny Farthing from Brisbane to Perth, covering 6500kms at a crack of breaking a Guinness World Record for longest distance travelled on a Penny Farthing.

The intimate event will be at the popular Fremantle coffee shop, ‘Mostly Sometimes’ . Organised by Happy Monday Co, Suburban Vibes and Mostly Sometimes Cafe, an evening of scintillating tunes played by some of Perths favourite local artists is guaranteed to leave your heart feeling warm and your ears spoilt where all ticket sales go towards the https://www.mycause.com.au/aridetohappiness page.

Expect Rugs, Couches, fairy lights and good vibes.

BYO alcohol, nibbles and smiles 🙂

My camera went kapoot in the middle of taking this shot of a kingfisher. Leaving me a total of 3500 dollars down the hole in camera gear before the ride 😞
All good though! Last few days at work before knuckling down and dedicating everything I have towards the ride to happiness.
Let’s hope my luck with riding is better than my luck with cameras this week 🤙

21/11/2019

This photo snapped by in Cottesloe reminds me of where this tour all began, the Phillipines.
From 2015 to 2017 I worked on a yacht, travelling from one exotic island to the next. A lavish life filled with coconuts, margaritas and late nights followed by early mornings.
I worked and lived with the best crew you could possibly ask for (miss you zeepaard crew xx) and despite the beautiful sandy beaches, blue water and the all year round summer I began to develop a lack of appreciation for it all.
The sunsets you see on the post cards and littered all over Instagram, the water that people save all their money for a year to travel and go swim in, just wasn’t beautiful anymore. I lost the colour in life and felt stuck in a rut.
While sitting on anchor in the Phillipines one night, stuck in my sorry head listening to a podcast to cheer me up I happened to hear them mention Penny Farthings.
With my brain so desperately searching for a way to heal itself before I knew it my fingers were tapping away on a contact us form to .com.au looking for details on obtaining one of these ancient relics.
Almost 3 years later I am about to embark on a 6500km journey and I couldn’t be more excited about what it has grown into.

Scroll across so you can read where it all started back in January 2017.

Hope you all had a Happy Thursday!

Much love
