I don’t have enough time for side hustle.
I don’t have enough time to work on my startup idea.
I don’t know how to make time for my family.
And the endless list of excuses to procrastinate things.
I’ve been there. I know when you are in that zone; you feel clueless. And you make such excuses to justify yourself.
First, stop explaining and justifying yourself. If you wanted it that badly, well, you would have made some time for it.
It’s all about priorities, tbh.
But, let’s not go there and talk about some practical tips which can help you get better with time.
Before that let’s understand few things.
1. Some things are non-negotiable like sleep, diet, relationships and workout. Never try to skip them. You’ll not like the consequences.
2. It’s not possible to follow the routine every single day. Sometimes life gets in the way. But, 70-80% is a good range.
3. Don’t put a lot of pressure on you. There are a lot of things you need to learn and of course you can’t do all of them at once. Take baby steps.
Now, some practical tips to get ahead of time and make most out of it.
1. Have a specific time for everything. For example, before I was taking calls right from 9 in the morning to 11 in the night. Bad idea. It wasted so much of my time, plus I was constantly getting interrupted when I was working. Now, I take calls between 4 pm and 8 pm. And, I’ve clearly mentioned it in the contract.
2. Ditch late nights. If you are a night owl, I’m sorry, but you need to make a change. I love working late at night. But, unfortunately, the world doesn’t favour it. Start waking up early. You’ll be surprised by the amount of work you can do before 12 pm.
3. Take frequent breaks. Hey, Anushka! Aren’t we talking about managing time and getting more done within less time? Yes, and that’s why it’s important to take frequent breaks. By taking breaks, you let yourself relax and recharge. And, it helps you to get more done in less time.
Pro tip - Take a day off in the week. You’ll be bustling on Mondays.
4. Planning is great but without action it means nothing. Spend more time in taking actions and less in planning out things.
