I had a bloody lovely time recording ‘Wild Me’ with & (Out now!)
Several cups of tea and biscuits later, and we came out with this gorgeous tune.

As the World Cup looms, as is tradition in this country, we must seek out an anthem, a rally cry to help lift our spirits through to the final!
Well, ‘This is The One’.
has reached into the hearts and minds of the peaple, and found the words we can barely utter.
Lend your ears and brace yourself for the winter World Cup!

Studio Build part 11: Got my dad in again for this one. He made some flat pack speaker cabinets back in his workshop in Leeds and we assembled it all in a day. Didn’t even have to read the instructions! 😂

Studio build Part 10: I’ve moved in and up and running now, but still want to show some of the highlights. Love it when the plasterboard goes in first time! Not a regular occurrence, but still fun 😆

Losing my timeline! Studio Build Part 7: helped me with this one. Packing the insulation into the gap. Horrible stuff RockWool. If you get any on your skin it itches like hell. Beginning to look like a wall though!

We did a great little live video with our pal .vide0 recently. Forgot to get some shots of his beautiful mug, but here’s the setup we did on Penelope (the piano). She’s over 100 years old, and still going strong. A spaced pair of SM58s and a mid/side combo of the Royer R101 (mid) and U87 (sides) is our go to for a dynamic and wide piano sound. She really sings!

Studio Build Part 9: I forgot to record putting the furring bars up, but they help separate plasterboard from the wooden studs with springy clips. Just another layer of sound dampening. Cutting the plasterboard to size is the fun bit. When it slots into place 👌🤓

I had the wonderful Jonathan Ainscough in a while back, helping him produce some beautiful audition reels. It really helps to have a great online portfolio these days, and he’s back in soon after the great response he’s had.

I’ve been doing more location sound recording recently which is great fun. Boom operating and some theatre work. I’m always up for doing some more, so give me a shout if you need anything to sound good where you are 😊

Studio Build Part 8: I didn’t get a Timelapse of the electrics and lights, because they’re all over the place, but I had the help of this wonderful chap to install it with me. He’s a real gem, and looks very fetching in work trousers 💪

Studio Build Part 5: Many hands make light work. This window weighs a ton, and without the super strength of my wife and extraordinary business partner I’m not sure we would have got it in! They only thought they were popping in for a sneak peak 😂

Love this Album! If you’re a fan of Andy Shauf, and like us have been waiting to see him live after the third postponement 😅 then feast your ears on this. A collaboration with Darryl Kissick, there’s some classic Andy Shauf melodies, coupled with there more rhythmic entries, like ‘Everything Apart’.

Testing out some new preamps in the studio🤓 It’s always nice to have options when tracking different instruments. These have a great low end response, perfect for bass, kick drum, or whatever you had in mind.

Studio Build part 3: Building a wall frame is tricky business. Lots of head scratching and a bit of bashing into place always helps. Especially when it doesn’t fit!

Control room Build Part 1: We’re off to the races with the building work in the studio. 2022 is set to be very exciting, and we’re looking forward to spreading out into the new space. As you can see here, we’re working at quite the pace laying the floor for the new vocal/podcast booth 😅 I’m getting a sweat on!

We had a ball on Sunday recording some new tunes for and 👌 Sessions like these are a breeze when you’ve got the calibre of musicians like bim_williams_guitar_ & .Carson.5 surrounding you. Nothing beats getting everyone in the space together making music. Sounds lush!

Closing the door on 2021
2022 - Let’s be having ya!
After somewhat more of a break than we planned (covid, car crises, christmas) we are back and so excited to get the studio train rolling for 2022.
We’ll be focusing our efforts over the new few months building a shiny new control room and a small but perfectly formed vocal booth & podcast studio … so hit us up for your vocal/podcast/voice over/ needs.
Lots more exciting stuff in the pipeline too, so keep your peepers peeled!

Spent some time giving some much needed tlc to the Soundcraft Spirit 32. A couple of the faders were a touch loose, and 2 of the pots were a little dirty. I swapped some of the channels round and gave everything a spring clean. Sounding great now ☺️
Such a Joy to work on this latest single with @doadmusic I managed to convince George to give me a shot mixing some of his tunes, and I’m proud of the result. He did a great job of recording it all himself, so it was just a case of finding a nice balance. Hit me up if you’ve got some tunes you want mixing ✌️
I had the fantastic privilege of working on the cast recording of @climbwayup This was the first musical I had recorded in the studio, and there was such a fantastic energy bringing the stage show to life. For the most part we recorded everything live, apart from a few vocal overdubs, and I think you can feel like that in the recording.
