It can be easy to forget that all the cities, mountains, seas, and rivers mentioned in the Bible were real places with real people. But by taking the time to look at a Bible map, we can learn more about a location mentioned in a passage which can then help us better understand what is taking place. For example, this week in Year in the Bible we are reading through the book of Acts. When we look at all the places Paul traveled during his missionary journeys, knowing he traveled by foot or by boat only, our appreciation for how God furthered the gospel grows. And with each mile traveled, we are encouraged by Paul’s commitment and faithfulness to the great commission. As you study, take some time to look at the maps in your study Bible or do a quick search online. Your heart will be turned to gratitude as you see God’s sovereignty at work even through geography.
