This is a diorama at the refuge where I took hunters safety with my dad many, many years ago. When my dad suggested we take the kids there during our Christmas break, I was excited to see it again. That channel cat was still ingrained on my brain. I've still never tied into one. I told my mom about all this in front of the display, and she told me that her first fishing memory was channel cats like this.... funny enough, her initials are VSH, and that's purely a coincidence.

All this to say, while this account is relatively new, my love for the outdoors is not. It's even more indelible in me than that kitty. There's no bull crap here. Same ol' same ol' love of the chase.

Another thing I picked up from my parents was to fight for what I believe in. That's why I'm a proud contributor to the and member of and and others.

If we all do a little, it helps a lot. While I don't pick up every piece I see, I usually grab more than this. I didn't on this hunt because, despite the traffic at this access site, it was surprisingly clean.

HOLY COW. Fishing with a 3 year old is always entertaining, and I highly recommend it! Got the wife and monster out on a weekday just before Thanksgiving for the freshly stocked big trout.
