Went for a nice quick ride on my b-day. A quick hour jaunt to chicken valley road and surrounding roads. Tried out my new Klīm airbag vest. Blows air straight through, almost like not wearing it at all. ATTGATT in the heat means being smart about it. Plenty of good tech out there.

Very proud to be a leader in the On The Road Again team! We made the cover of Newsday talking about motorcycle safety. I work most weekends NOT riding with friends to try to make motorcycling a safer and better sport for Long Island. On the parking lot pavement teaching, coaching, mentoring is where I try my best to make a difference.

A Newsday analysis shows at least 12 motorcyclists died in crashes in May and June this year, up from at least six the year before during the same months.

Just a friendly reminder that most modern sport motorcycle tires actually have a LARGER contact patch at higher lean angles. The myth that leaned over at 40 degrees is on the “edge” of the tire is simply not true. You do still need to be smooth because even with the larger contact patch, your bike is still using a good amount of it simply to turn.

There’s something to be said about having an amazing mechanic/technician/genius to watch over your bikes. Finding that person may take some time. I‘m very lucky to have Steve Sa as not only my mechanic, but as a great friend. Steve’s been keeping the bar really high in the Hudson Valley/NY Metro area for many many years now. Definitely look him up for all your motorcycle needs.

Part of my rehab from my broken ankle has been getting an e-bike. This thing is pretty awesome. Next spring I might have to split my time between riding motorcycles again with road riding!
