"Chuck Fitzgerald, nearing the end of a life of dogged restraint and grim disappointment, was run down.

Tonight, Charlie planned to change that."

Tonight's episode of Dead Earth is called Nesting.

https://deadearthpodcast.com/episodes/nesting

A mystical intervention transports an aggrieved family from the dinner table across time and space to a house that should no longer stand. Only there are changes in this house from last they were there. A red door to which only Chuck Fitzgerald, the father of the family, holds the key.

Nesting's artwork is by Dan Wallace.

Nesting was performed by Mike Foxtrot Johnson, Jon Reeder, Emily Liles, Dan Wallace, and Taylor Normington.

A grieving father joins with his children on a thought experiment into the unwanted, the unnatural, and the unknown.

"Gabriel, Gabriel, wherefore art thou, Gabriel?"

Dead Earth Season 2 takes a sharp turn into irreverent horror with GUTTERLOVERS. A young man and a young woman fight against all odds to become one despite their families' protests. The intricate plumbing of the heart proves once again that no distance is too far, no drain is too small to be with the one you care about.

This week's artwork is as grotesque as it is beautiful, all thanks to Amy Dehaan.

Emily Liles is our narrator for today, lending her vocal talents to the cloying and extravagant Violet.

Season 2 of Dead Earth has begun!

Mother's Wen

A young man who cares for his mother confronts the nature of life, and birth, itself. As a strange bezoar emerges from mother's stomach, the young man searches for a use for this biological gift.

"Life is truly unkind."

Dead Earth is back, and we're grateful if you'd join us for another season of strange, horrific, personal stories about the people most like you and I, the people that know the truth. That the earth died long ago.

Huge thanks to Grace Scott for her serenely horrifying piece of art for today's episode. And a gracious thank you to Dan Wallace for his dire narrative, and to Michael Johnson and Jon Reeder for yet again lending their vocal talents.

Black lives matter.
Cops are an enemy of free people and a tool of the oppressors.
Rest in power George Floyd, David McAtee, Eric and Erica Garner, Sandra Bland, Botham Jean, Atatiana Jefferson, Michael Brown.
Property is not more important than a life.
The riots happen because peaceful protesters are antagonized by law enforcement and because this unending hostility has reached a boiling point.
Solidarity with the protesters.
Solidarity with our black brothers and sisters.

Windowgazer

The man who calls himself your father breaks down his video camera with the red REC eye each night, just before you wake, eagerly hoarding this footage of your most vulnerable state. He is meticulous in his work. You can try and stop him, but what he's taken, you'll never get back.

"Better to not remember."

We here at Dead Earth hope everyone is staying safe and healthy indoors during this unfortunate time. Josh Veal is the talented voice you'll hear narrating this episode, and the photograph used for this episode, offering a rare glimpse of the Windowgazer himself, was taken by Dan Wallace.

Last Lash on the Left

"I've come to hate my body and all that it requires in this world."

How much control do we have over our actions? Is your body you, or are you something else entirely? A chance meeting in the alleys of Chicago leads a woman to discover who she really is, and allows her to, for the first time in her life, make a choice all her own.

As we enter the back half of Dead Earth's first season, you may start to notice subtle callbacks to earlier episodes. We are mapping out the landscape for what is to come. The earth died long ago, and only now are we realizing what that means for us, and for our future.

I'd like to again thank everyone who has given our humble little horror show a listen. And an extra special thanks to the many, many close friends whose talents have allowed us to bring this project to fruition.

Extra special thanks to Lola Gaines for lending her voice talent and bringing Last Lash to life. And a huge shout out to Chris McClurken, who created the mystical art for this week's episode.

The last lash on the left is longest, and if you give it a pull, you will see who you really are.

A new episode of Dead Earth is up now!

"My closet door rattles and I know it's her."

Auntie Upstairs waits, bubbling with anticipation. She hunches within your closet, eager for you to fall asleep. You don't know why she does this. Your family seems uninterested in acknowledging her strange nocturnal habits. You begin to wonder whether this is all supposed to happen. But then she laughs, her belly and her toes jutting out behind the closet doors, and you assure yourself this isn't right. You take Auntie back downstairs and return to your room, knowing full well it's going to happen all over again tomorrow.

Episode Five: Home.

"I saw shapes emerge from the once solid structure, and they all looked like you. Our house remembered you as well as I."

When love turns to loss, an immense, sloth-like despair can consume those left behind. One such person wanders away from home, lost in his grief, and winds up surrounded by dead houses, the likes of which can only be found while in the very depths of misery.

Episode Four is out! Round out your Thanksgiving by listening to Maiden Of The Manhole.

The haunting call that echoes through antiquated sanitation infrastructure causes a man to contemplate working through citizens in the most thorough way possible.
