The etymology of Nagkabittan Falls is rooted in the Ilokano word "kabit," which translates to "anchor" in the local language. Prior to World War II, this area served as covert hideouts for the Japanese. It functioned as a strategic location where the Japanese anchored ropes for their descent. During this period, intense battles unfolded as American and Filipino guerrilla forces engaged in operations to locate and eliminate the Japanese forces occupying the territory.
