Masood declared his intention to carry out "lone wolf" terrorist strikes against Americans.
A Pakistani doctor who was employed in the country on an H1-B visa was given an 18-year prison term for attempting to fund the terrorist group ISIS and carry out "lone wolf" attacks in the country.
According to a statement from the Department of Justice, Muhammad Masood, 31, was sentenced on Friday to 18 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for trying to support ISIS financially.
In August of last year, he entered a guilty plea, and Senior Judge Paul A. Magnuson handed down the punishment.
Masood worked as a research coordinator at a medical center and was a licensed physician in Pakistan, according to court filings.

Tensions in Manipur: Kuki-Zo MLAs Express Concern for Safety, Refuse Assembly Session Attendance
In Manipur, Kuki-Zo MLAs have expressed concerns for their safety and announced their decision not to attend the upcoming Assembly session due to the volatile law and order situation. The decision comes amidst ongoing ethnic tensions between the Kuki and Meitei communities, resulting in violence and looting of weapons from police armouries since May 3.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with members of the influential Meitei civil society group COCOMI and urged them to initiate dialogue with responsible Kuki leaders for peace-building.
The COCOMI group is deliberating on the Home Minister's suggestion, indicating that they would engage only with legitimate Kuki leaders after consulting with their constituents.
The MLAs from the Kuki-Zo-Hmar communities, however, are skeptical of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh's claims of communication and express concerns over the safety of attending the Assembly session.
The MLAs highlight the dangerous conditions in Imphal and its surrounding areas, referring to recent attacks on both civilians and security personnel.
The MLAs also emphasize their demand for a separate administration and have submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting a separate Chief Secretary and police chief for the affected hill districts as temporary measures.
