The group collected non-perishables for the food bank.

HAPPENING NOW: The measure to bring a water park to Osceola was approved in Tuesday nights special election.

The one cent sales tax will go into effect, it will fund a lap pool and lazy river that will be open year-round. It will also fund the construction of 3 outdoor water slides. All of this will be built next to the golf course.

The tax with also improve city parks and thanks to a donation the city will also introduce a 5 acre fishing pond. Region 8 News

HAPPENING NOW: This is a first look at a possible project The Arkansas Department of Transportation could start soon on Highway 91 in Jonesboro.

It would widen this stretch of road from I-555 all of the way down past Westside Schools from 2 lanes to 3 with a left turn lane in the middle.

The project would also add a roundabout at the intersection of Highway 91 and 349.

ARDOT will host a public involvement meeting from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, at the library/media center at Westside High School. Region 8 News

HALLOWEEN: This is the best set up I have seen in some time.

A group at Sage Meadows in Jonesboro is handing out free hot dogs throughout the night (along with candy).

They have over 400 dogs to hand out to hungry truck-or-treaters.

HAPPENING NOW: In a Mississippi County Quorum Court Meeting on Tuesday the group voted to reactivate the Eaker Air Force Base.

They said they wanted to make it available for the U.S. Air Force if need be. County Clerk Janice Currie talked about how much the airbase means. Region 8 News

HAPPENING NOW: An extremely rare albino squirrel was found at the city cemetery in Jonesboro near St. Bernards.

Albino squirrels are the rarest form of white squirrels. Mammologists estimate that the odds of a squirrel giving birth to an albino offspring are 1 in 100,000. Region 8 News

HAPPENING NOW: Osceola may be the next city in northeast Arkansas to get a water park.

On November 14 residents will get to vote on if they want a 1 cent sales tax. It would go towards a water park with multiple slides, a lazy river and an indoor pool that would be open year round. Region 8 News

UPDATE: For the second year in a row water levels in the Mississippi River are reaching record lows.

The river is currently at -10.63 ft. according to US National Weather Service Memphis Center Weather Service Unit, and these photos show the issues it causes at the Osceola Ports. Region 8 News

HAPPENING NOW: an extremely rare bird in Arkansas was found outside the Nature Center in Jonesboro.

This is a Blue Quaker Parakeet that is being nursed back to health after flying into a window.

The Blue ones are relatively new within the last 40 years and can be found mainly in South America. Region 8 News

Two bids were submitted by contractors 2 million dollars over budget after architects had a roof in the plans that was too expensive.

They now have 30 days to change the design and try to get new contractors. Region 8 News

HAPPENING NOW: This is one woman's thoughts on the traffic light at the Red Wolf Blvd. and Aggie Rd. intersection in Jonesboro.

Due to construction the light was malfunctioning and causing major backups.
