Episode 2 is out! In this episode I chat with Aziz Abu Sarah who is the first Palestinian to run to be mayor of Jeruselum and the founder of Mejdi tours as well as a journalist and activist who has won a UN award, published a book and is in the worlds 500 most influential Muslims. We chat about the political and cultural knowledge that can be gained by exploring the different communities where you live as well as the future of sustainable travel.

The Spotify link is in my bio and you can find it on Apple podcasts or iTunes by searching Devine Politics Across Countries.

If you wanted to listen to more of a back and forth conversation, here's your chance! I've rereleased the first episode so that our chat is at the beginning and her super interesting monologue is at the end. I've also tweaked the timing issues so now it'll be easier listening. It's still the same link, so go and enjoy!

RELEASE ANNOUNCEMENT!
My chat with Chlöe Swarbrick has finally been uploaded! We discuss racism in New Zealand and the USA’s criminal justice system (although there is no discussion of the BLM movement as this was recorded before the recent protests). We also discuss the potential repercussions of COVID-19 on community and mental health. The episode is on Spotify, iTunes and Apple Podcast under Devine Politics Across Countries or you can click one of the links below. I hope you enjoy!

It's time for the big reveal.

The first guest on my podcast is Chlöe Swarbrick.

Chlöe is a member of parliament representing the New Zealand Green Party. As a Political Science student at a relatively liberal university, I had been surrounded by a lot of Swarbrick supporters. Originally, I thought she was admired solely because she is the youngest member of parliament and because of her liberal ideas. Although she is young at the age of 25, and she is liberal, I have come to realize that she is also a well-spoken and sometimes outspoken person, with well-reasoned and researched views. Even if you don’t agree with what she says, you have to admit that she says it well.

Welcome to Devine Politics Across Countries, a podcast discussing how countries are politically connected and discovering how they're politically unique.
My name's Lilly Devine and I'm the creator and host of this podcast. I started my travels by moving from my home town Napier in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand to a town of 5000 people in the north of France. After my adventures in Europe, I returned to New Zealand to study Political Science, French and Spanish at Victoria University of Wellington. Two years later, however, I was ready for another change and found myself across the ditch working in Brisbane, Australia. Once that was over, I wasn’t ready to fly home just yet, so I decided to try out my Spanish in Colombia on a university exchange for an protest filled and politically charged 6 months. This was followed by an opportunity to live with a mate and her family in Belo Horizonte, where I was totally immersed in the Brazilian culture for 2 months. I got back to New Zealand just in time to begin my last year of uni and just before borders started closing all over the world.
I thought I'd give you the lowdown of who you'll hear chatting through your headphones very soon. Watch this space and go give a follow on insta!
