3. TO ENDURE
Place will always capture out heart and educate our soul. Whether chosen or dealt, where we reside shapes and moulds the self. Growing old and sharing stories is permitted by the endurance of the human soul. Preservation of the land ensures longevity for not only our personal journeys, but the many the follow us. Local's fixation on person and place would skew if place began to perish. DRAGLINE’s investigations into person and place allow us to explore deeper this connection and how best to protect the land.

2. THE POINT
Comprehension of self and immersion in practice can be traced to a nucleus thought - why do we create in the first place? Cathartic release and personal discovery may offer some insight. The pursuit of understanding the self is the only way forward. At DRAGLINE our collision of person, practice and place has opened a portal into the internal. Never before has Local been able to deeply test our observations. That has all changed now.

1. TO BE UNDERSTOOD
Through art we discover ourselves. Peeling away at personal layers through the process reveals much to be translated and tested. Being understood by others is a feeling that can be communicated through art. Since Local's inception, documentation of person and place has been our focus. DRAGLINE presented the unique opportunity to test this relationship.

BRAEDEN OAKLEY
“Working with Braeden has been such a wonderful experience; filled with laughter, learning, and scaring Katrina. As the producer / creative director of the play, Braeden has created some phenomenal costume and set ideas that capture the timeless essence of the production. Braeden also helps create a safe and fun rehearsal environment that enables us to learn and grow as performers. Braeden is a fun, insightful, and crucial part of the cast, even if it’s an early 'seedy' Sunday rehearsal.”
Written by the unforgettable Sam French.
Benedicta McGeown aka KATHERINE
“Benedicta is fire. In every movement, every word, every look, there is a peek into the furnace within, that is burning red hot and watching her perform is like sitting beside that fire, feeling its warmth reach your bones.
When Katherine demands rage, you can almost see flames spitting from the corners of her lips. When Katherine requires softness, you can feel the warmth of a brick fireplace, inviting you to be comfortable.
To perform with her feels Promethean and it has been a privilege to work beside her. We all shine brighter in her light.”

Peter Brown | @ursa_arctos | aka GREMIO/MERCHANT/WIDOW
“Firstly, Peter has the most majestical beard in the entire universe.
He gives amazing cuddles and hypes you up like no other.
Peter’s characterisation is committed and hilarious in this show.
He always finds variation with offers, intention, line delivery, and body language, which keeps our show fresh and exciting.
Peter is a confident and present performer, but his kindness, trust in the cast, and willingness to listen are equally important traits.
Peter makes our collaborative cast feel so safe and accepted.
Working with beautiful Peter has been a pleasure and I would do it again in A HEARTBEAT.”

Gabi Vavoulas aka LUCENTIO!
“Working with Gabi has been an absolute joy.
One of the most consistently positive members of the cast, I’m not sure I’ve ever giggled so much throughout a rehearsal process.
Gabi’s ability to switch from having fun side stage to completely focused in her role is a skill I completely admire although her focus on telling a story has definitely seen both of us miss the occasional cue or five.
Each rehearsal it was clear how much thought she had put into character development and her contagious energy has made the entire process that much more enjoyable.”

Paul McNally | @theotherblackpaul | aka HORTENSIO & VINCENTIO
“Working with Paul is like a fever dream; you’re dancing wildly in a place you’ve never been, don’t know anyone but they’re all smiling, and can hear strange mandolin music wafting around…in short, absolutely magic.
A Paul-centric rehearsal highlight for me is his 3 hysterically funny guesses before conceding defeat and asking for a prompt.
The funniest trait of Paul’s is the intersection of his comedic timing and ability to play a mandolin. There is nothing as funny as the twang of a well-timed, off-key mandolin filling a silence.
Paul’s approach to his characters has been delightful to watch; each is unique, funny in their own ways, and executed masterfully.”

Chloe Harle | @chloeharle_ | aka BIANCA
“Chloe is one of those people who when they swear always catches you off guard, which in my opinion is hilarious.
Chloe has been fantastic to work with.
She’s hard-working, dedicated and lifts morale with her presence.
She has brought a natural sense of poise and grace to the role of Bianca and has made it her own.
It’s been an absolute pleasure to get to know Chloe these past few months, a sentiment that is shared by everyone involved in this production.”

Sam French | @sam_french02 | aka GRUMIO
“Any time spent working with Frenchie is a breeze!
Sam is an incredibly dedicated actor, breathing life into every role.
He is always committed to his characterisation and can take on any direction and create an engaging, rollercoaster performance.
Frenchie is the class clown of the cast, whose batteries are always supercharged!
Whether it be new offers or another personal prop, Sam always brings something to the stage.
Who better to play our loveable, hard done by and comedic Grumio, than the talented Sam French.”
