We’ve narrowed down your stories and chosen the top 16. These have been broken into 4 groups and are now up for voting on my stories.

If you’re one of the 16, spread the word! Get your friends and coworkers to vote for you. The more engagement you have from your school, the better chance your school will have of winning!

I’m hard at work on a new free resource that I’m hoping will be available early January. It’s so cute, I just had to share!

If you’ve been waiting to preorder our new short vowel and CVC books, here’s your chance!

Short vowel contains ten 16-page books and CVC contains five 24-page books. Both come with ancillary resource packs and a downloadable version of the literacy activities.

I need your help…

One of our missions here at Charge Mommy Books is to give back—to make literacy accessible to everyone. And the reason we are able to do that is because of every one of you and your support.

One of the ways we do this is through free resources. In fact, our site currently has 35 free resources available to everyone!

We also love tBack to Play to those in need. This year we’ve been able to make some wonderful donations, including my to (if you don’t know then, look them up!). We’ve also donated to title 1 schools, literacy organizations, and to children’s hospitals.

I’m so proud of how many books we’ve been able to donate and it’s all because you have supported our small business. Now we’re getting ready for our biggest donation of the year and we’ll need your help to pull it off! So keep your eyes here for a big announcement later this week!

Saying goodbye this morning to Reading League 2024 and all wonderful people I met, some whom I have engaged with for a long time and some who are brand-new to me. I loved hearing from every one of you who came up to tell me you’ve been voting on our science and new short vowel books for months and those who have been following along silently. For those I don’t know well, I look forward to getting to know you better before next year’s conference!

I’m so excited to share some of the final art for our new Short O book. This one is called The Pot and stars Bob and his dog.

This 10-book set will come BEFORE our existing short vowel books in teaching order, offering fewer sounds and fewer pages for the newest of readers.

These books JUST went to the printer, so look for them coming your way in early 2025!

I fly down to Charlotte for the Reading League Conference on Tuesday, which means that I’m hard at work gathering the last of my display materials.

These 3 proof dummies just came in and will be on my table to show what we’ve got coming up, but I couldn’t help sharing them here first!

I swear I didn’t do it on purpose, but I am loving all the female athletes popping up in our new books!

The Net features Lex, a girl who just wants to play some soccer! This will be the second of 2 Short E books in our upcoming Short Vowel Beginning Letter Sounds set.

As we close in on the end of the year, I’m excited to announce our biggest donation of the year, and it’s all thanks to every one of you who supported our small business this year. Starting tomorrow we will be partnering with @fallingfor1st to choose 4 US-based Title 1 school or district to win 250 sets of our decodable readers. That’s 25 copies each of all 10 sets of our books (including science). In order to win, we need to know why your school or district needs these books. What impact would they have on your community? Tell us your story (in tomorrow’s post) and make it heartfelt because here’s the catch: I won’t be choosing the winners. You will be! When I look at how far these books came from their first inception, I am amazed. From my first plans to now, they are totally different books. They passed through so many hands: literacy specialists, in-class teachers, science experts… and you! To everyone who weighed in along the way—who offered phrasing, talked to me about nonfiction text features, weighed in on text color, suggested I switch to photos, and more…thank you! Each and every one of you took the time to weigh in to make these books the best they can be for our kids. Now it’s a waiting game until I get to start sharing them…and I can’t wait!
