ECL BLAMES PRICE HIKES OF GOODS ON SABOTAGE

President Edgar Lungu has accused suppliers of goods and services of sabotage over escalation in prices of essential commodities.

President Lungu has since warned that if the situation continues the Government may be forced to introduce price controls.

Speaking when he called on Paramount Chief Chitimukulu, President Lungu expressed concern at the escalation in prices of commodities which is affecting many families.

He says there is sabotage as prices of goods that are not supposed to be increased are going up as suppliers are taking advantage of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, Paramount Chief Chitimukulu has urged President to continue with his good leadership which is all inclusive.

Meanwhile, President Lungu has officially opened the PF Northern Province General Conference were party members are electing new leaders.

President Lungu warned cadres against using the name of the party to solicit funds.

UNZA CUTS TIME ON STUDYING MEDICINE,NURSING

By Yamiko Banda-The duration of Medicine and Nursing Sciences Degree programms at the University of Zambia -UNZA- have been reduced.

The Medicine Degree has been reduced from seven to six years while that of Nursing Sciences has been reduced to four years.

The Schools of Medicine and Natural Sciences revised their curricula with the assistance of the Strengthening Health Professional Workforce Education Programs for Improved Quality Health Care in Zambia -SHEPIZ-.

UNZA Spokesperson Brenda Bukowa says this has been done to ensure competitiveness of Zambian students on the international market and bring value to the students’ academic journey.

Dr. Bukowa says the revised curricula will ensure that students are not limited to the Ministry of Health alone by ensuring that they are more rigorous and versatile in their practice as entrepreneurship and management courses have been added.

She was speaking to ZNBC News in a telephone interview today.

Meanwhile, UNZA Vice Chancellor Professor Luke Mumba says with the right support, the Schools of Medicine and Nursing Sciences have the capacity to train health care providers at specialist level in response to the growing demand.

Prof. Mumba says the University has a deliberate policy aimed at encouraging innovative strategies for improving the programmes it offers, adding that the SHEPIZ project is one such strategy.

And SHEPIZ Project Manager who is also Dean – School of Nursing Sciences, Patricia Mukwato thanked the participants for responding to the invitation and their willingness to impact the health care training through their individual contribution by developing

modules.

In another development, the UNZA Senate has revised the phased re-opening for students in their first and second year of study.

WITCHES AND WIZARDS PLAYING WITH TEACHERS' PRIVATE PARTS IN KAWAMBWA

Teachers at Chishinga Secondary School in Pambashe constituency in Kawambwa District in Luapula Province are living in fear after 6 teachers complained that strange people (witches and wizards) are visiting them at night to sleep with them or play with their organs when they are sleeping or when they are awake provided they are laying on their beds. Mr Kenny Mulumbwa, a Head Teacher at the school said teachers are terrified after recording increase in such cases. He said female are on the receiving end as male villagers who fail to propose them during the day opt to sleep or play with their organs at night. He said even male teachers are not exempted as old women also fight to sleep with them in dreams.
The Head Teacher on his part said he is living in fear after lightning struck his office five times around 16:30 on 26th November last year killing one pupil on spot and injuring 15 others.
He said he has no doubt the lightning was targeted at him after he refused to borrow a named feared villager some money and he is thankful that he survived the attack.
