Sooo...sorry long post alert.. We took off for omaha ate at Raising canes for my birthday walked thru menards and headed home..the wind is terrible.made a few stops in denison and got home to THIS⬇️(See pictures)..the shed is supposed to be sitting over the straw pile..at least it missed the tortoise shed and car trailer sitting behind it. It did wreck the little pen we had made on the west side of the shed..in the front yard a huge branch came down landed on the water tank,dented it and took out the string lights in the trees,just missing the new firepit grill we bought last year.We just cant have anything nice.lol . There were multiple totes and garbage cans in the ditch up against the fence that we had to gather up.
We also have an old self feeder that was enclosed ,the whole north side is flappin in the wind..I'll be surprised if it isn't off by morning or down... we were gonna head to the daughters house tomorrow..but not anymore..driving in the wind makes for car sick me and tight shoulders for the hubby from holding on to the wheel. And I'm sure there will be a little clean up tomorrow anyway if the wind lets up.. If anyone would like to get me anything for my birthday,a new shed would be nice😉..technically it's not for me it's for the donkeys,horses and cow and multiple chickens. I'll take cash large and small bills,even change lol lol😉🤑😝🤪 oh and Venmo don't forget venmo..

Say hi to our free range bunny! If anyone has any friends for him or her let me know, he has an apartment under the chicken house and needs a roommate.lol
Peachy the cat visits from time to time.lol and Grissom the pyrenese act like he doesn't notice either one of them.

No they don't live in this basket.
They just hatched and were still in the incubator.My granddaughter wanted to play with them and this basket was a good way to transport them..the chicks kept pecking the the yellow spot on the black beaked ones.

K so day 3
Can't see the spot very well in the one picture but the other one seems bigger..this experiment may be a bust before I even get far...I can't tell if we have reflection or changes in the egg..we will go a couple more days. It will be easier to tell if they are doing anything if they start getting veins at 1 week.

TRYING TO HATCH A CHICKEN EGG WITHOUT A SHELL.
I had 2 chicken eggs get cracked while washing them..rather than toss them I decided to try to hatch them without a shell
Day 2
Did you know you can determine if an egg is fertile or not by looking at the germ spot? The germ spot is the white spot on the yolk. The non-fertile germ spot contains only the female's cells and looks like a solid white spot. In a fertile egg the germ spot contains both the female and male cells and looks like a bullseye.
They look fertile today!

So I found my pot bellied pig! She free ranges and has been missing for several days because of the weather that came thru the last few days..I figured she holed up somewhere..I figure she was in the hay bales so checked those bales the day before the weather started to find her and lock her in. I did not find her she was buried so far in the hay and got drifted in..Dave accidently stepped on her when he was out earlier..these pictures are after Dave was walking there clearing off the bales.. Dave stepped on the pig she grunted and he had to watch where he stepped to actually find her.. she is pretty hidden.. check out the pictures...also before anyone jumps me about not putting the pig in, she CAN go in she chose not too. She is probably warmer hunkered into that bale than she would be in a shed..she is well insulated. We left her ,she is probably eating hay from the inside of the pile . She made her own igloo.

I just went outside to see how everything was and to feed my chickens and . It is flippin cold..it looks way warmer than it is..my lungs hurt.lol.My husband is the best he scooped trails down to the grass,so I can go out in crocs, if I so choose. Lol
I'm happy to say everyone was accounted for, Except for the free range rabbit... There were no dead birds in the quail or chicken coup! And they were hungry.(the snow was drifted 3/4 up the door and hard..I couldn't get it opened for a day)..
Found all 4 cats,10 geese and a duck,5 donkeys,1pony,1 horse and a cow and 7 free range chickens.. Even my pig!!

Anybody need farm cats? These are not tame,but maybe could be if worked with, so would be great in a barn or shed. I had to trap them in live traps and then put them in this shed. This has only been where they are living as I trapped them and not their permanant living arrangements .The moms do hunt mice and birds. There are 2 tiger cat adults and 1 grey. They are small cats. And there are 6 kittens 2 grey,2 black, 2 tiger I think.. The kittens are about half grown. I have 1 more grey kitten and a male tiger cat I haven't caught yet,and don't know if I will ,they are very elusive 😊 .let me know if you are interested, I may be able to deliver locally.

Here is a baby gosling wrapped in a towel preening himself..ENJOY!
I had to bring this stinky little goose in..there were only 2 out of 3 , when I went out to find them and the mom acted like the other one was there someplace,but I couldn't see it anywhere..I lifted up all my baskets I had on hostas and didn't see him, went in the front pen and looked around didn't see him. I then went out. I heard finally he was in the pvc tube around the hydrant swimming in the stinky water trying to stay afloat in there..im glad I went out he would have drowned..I rinsed him but pee-eeww..I don't know how you do it ethan..
Now I gotta fashion a tempory cover for the tube around the hydrant til we get it replaced. Then we can do something more permanant.

I have some fun chicklets this year! Keeping all the new ones penned in. Should have a chicken house full of beautiful birds..I got:
I still have 10 free range chickens
19 frizzles,sizzles,cochin,silkie crosses. That i bought off market place.They are banties and beautiful! There are some funky hairs in there.
2 black and 1 white full sized chickens that we hatched.
9 mixed banties(seaBrite, silkies old english,d'uccle,2 millie fleur?)
And 17 multi colored egg layers.
For a total of 58.depending on roosters etc on how many actually make it to the chicken house or if I keep them separate to breed more frizzles and sizzles
I love a pretty basket of eggs when I gather. Stay tuned for more photos.

Daves getting my new chicken house ready! Used shed and He added a window and framed in the door and shored up the one corner to make the floor not so squishy! Gotta decide what to put on either side of the door to enclosed it,and if I'm gonna use actual nesting boxes or get creative and use something else and I have to give them something to roost on.
