On our Mother’s Day Episode of THG we spoke with Lacretia Branch and Lisa Staggers. Lacretia, also known as Cre the Creative, is a visionary and trailblazer who has made a significant impact on Columbia, S.C.’s music and arts scene with her diverse talents. With six years of experience in project management in events, marketing, media production, and public relations, she has become a central figure in her community. As a skilled connector, Cre shares resources and contacts that empower artists and creatives, making her a valuable asset. In addition to her community involvement, she excels as a freelancer, providing services in social media management, creative consulting, project management, and resume editing.

Lisa Staggers, a visionary in event planning. As the owner and principal planner of Purple Crane, Lisa has transformed event planning into an art form. Her journey from organizing destination vacations to managing large-scale government and civic events showcases continuous growth and development. With a background in marketing and formal training in Meeting & Event Planning from the University of North Carolina, Lisa has perfected the art of creating unforgettable experiences. Apart from her professional accomplishments, Lisa’s zest for life, evident in her adoration for the South Carolina coast and quality time with her daughter Savannah, adds a personal touch to her professional persona, making her not just an event planner but a curator of moments.

Calling all artists and creatives seeking grants to support their projects! Don't miss our livestream this Sunday, beginning at noon. Sunday’s Grant Writing for Creatives Panel will feature:

Dr. Wendell Brown is an Associate Professor of Art and serves as the Director of The Henry Ponder Gallery at Benedict College. Dr. Brown specializes in mixed media, fiber work, and sculpture installation with a passion for creating quilts that explore the traditions of African American quilt-making and Negro Spirituals. His work has been involved in solo and group exhibitions both nationally and internationally spanning over 30 years.

Dr. Thaddeus Jones is an Entrepreneurial Independent Filmmaker and content creator, as well as the owner of Fanatik Productions. He also works as an adjunct professor at Midlands Technical College (Photography). Dr. Jones has a passion for visual storytelling ranging from short films, documentaries, and commercial projects. Recently, he has served as Director of Programming with Indie Grits Labs and Columbia Film Society as well as Entrepreneur in Residence at USC’s Darla Moore School of Business-Faber Center.

Curtis John is an Independent Filmmaker, and the Founder/Executive Director of Luminal Theater (2015-Present), where he brings Black independent films directly to Black communities and general audiences interested in Black cinema investment. He is also the co-founder/producer of the Black documentary focused series BLK Docs and of the Caribbean Film Series, which takes place at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Michael Murray is a photographer and poet, holding the position of director of poetry at the RICH Legacy Institute. Michael has had several works featured in Tapp’s Art Center, The State Newspaper, The Carolina Panorama, and more. As a community organizer and Founder/Manager of Playlixt LLC, he has curated over four years of innovative events showcasing the many faces, voices, and styles of performance art. He is also the co-host of The Cultivated Ignorance Podcast and a long-time member of Alternate ROOTS.

🤔 what comes after a trilogy? Ion know but this is PART 4 of Poetry and Pajamas! We try to put a different spin on it every time and this time we decided to let the kids join in! For the first time we’re opening up the mic to the kids! Remember the open mic is only for poetry and it needs to be PG-13 this go around because of the kids….. with the formalities out of the way I’m excited to announce that our featured poet is none other than !!! This is an honor and I hope you guys come out to support and pre-order her new book! On top of the poetry we have two amazing music artist performing that you don’t wanna miss,
