Have you heard of a Disability Tax Credit?

Many first responders develop PTSD as a result of their service.

Support exists for you in the form of a Disability Tax Credit. The Canada Revenue Agency recognizes the impacts the job has on our people. They have set up financial help to those that have been impacted by their selfless desire to serve others and the cost they carry.

Have a listen to todays episode as we discuss many of the questions you may have surrounding eligibility and what that financial support looks like!

And if you want to connect with Anders head to my website, fill out some details and we will connect you!

In life we have two very distinct levels of fear.

The first level of fear is one that we can navigate with logic. We can develop a plan, assess the risk, determine what the best course of action is and believe that the outcome will be favourable. We may encounter some difficulty, but for the most part there is not a lot that will necessarily hold us back from being able to take action.

Now the second level of fear is one that we all experience. It is that deep rooted fear that leaves us with a pit in our stomach, a weight in our chest that screams there is no option, no action that could be taken that will not lead to catastrophe.

We may be gripped with intense thoughts and feelings. Have no idea how to navigate the fear or where it will lead us, but yet there’s something inside of us that is quiet. A reminder to push through as we know we need to navigate beyond that fear all while not knowing what is on the other side.

This level of fear exists in all of our lives. It may be careers we know we need to leave. It may be relationships that no longer serve us or make us a better person. It may be something we’ve struggled with for years that has come from our childhood. Something so deep that it’s never seen the light of day.

I have danced with both levels of this fear many times in life. And every time I have believed in myself and allowed myself to take action I have been absolutely amazed at what personal growth occurs afterwards.

So where does this fear exist for yourself?

Where is the cliff that you need to stand on and ready yourself to jump. Knowing that you don’t yet have wings but will grow them on the way down.

2023 is going to be an amazing year for many of us. I cannot wait to see you take the jump 🙌

In this episode I connect with now retired Barry Rhodes. Rhodes worked over a decade in corrections and experienced various types of trauma over that timeframe. Rhodes later went on to develop PTSD; a common workplace injury as a result of experienced workplace trauma.

Rhodes reflects about the challenges that came with PTSD specifically resulting in a situation involving a family member and mistreatment while employed as a corrections officer. Insensitivities around supports needed by Rhodes exacerbated Rhodes condition and left Rhodes in a precarious position.
