We ALMOST came off the road this summer. We had experienced a few too many RV repair incidents for our comfort level on our first year (including a small fire 😬😬)

However!! We started this journey with a mantra of “This is the way..” (..go back and read that with a sexy Mandalorian voice..) and we’re not quitting yet!

We did feel it was time for another “radical reset”, however, so we jumped into a renovation project together. I’m so excited to share the results with you in a few weeks!!

We are loving the sleepy side of the great smoky mountains. Bryson city now has a special place in our hearts. We’ve been visiting dolce cafe basically daily! They have hot food including bagel sandwiches until 2ish, specialty coffees, pastries, cheesecakes, gelato.. I didn’t even know about the gelato until I ordered a frappe! They have dairy free and gluten options which makes this a personal fav.

We were lucky enough to snag a night at fort clinch state park!! And then a couple more! We have had such luck hopping within parks once we secure one night.

So grateful we could extend our stay here as we ran into a major issue. Our brake line to the trailer broke!!! I had to message a Fulltime family rv tech for advice but ultimately hired an emergency repair person. So stressful!! The hosts were great here and checked in on us regularly as well as offered us a spot in beach parking if we couldn’t get her repaired in time. Great hosts make sure a difference in this life.

When we left Orlando, we made sure to hit up another one of Florida’s natural springs. We did the extended boat tour and were able to see gators AND manatees !!

The best chef at Disney World!! We tried to find him on purpose and failed. We ran into him by accident and he made us a special treat.

Saturday night gaming on the road. As soon as we came home from Disney a new friend ran over and hugged my eldest. They just met this week and have already bonded. These are how our road friendships work! So grateful for this community that lives life to the fullest.

We set this up in 5 minutes and it seems to work ok, but we need some kind of screen! Wonder what we’ll come up with.

It’s moving day!! This is Sheepy, our 7yo tortoise shell. We got her when was was a kitten and her meow sounded like a “maaaaaa”. The name stuck. She is one of (4!!!) cats in our home on wheels. We just couldn’t leave home without them.

Traveling during the off season sure has it’s benefits! I found this oceanfront site available on our way to Florida.

Must have been a cancellation because since arriving I’ve been trying to book a future date for next year and can’t find one like this.

We’re headed to the indoor pool within the hour and they going to the beach! 72 degrees is good enough for this crew.

We left Virginia and are settled in NC for the next week.

We weren’t planning on sunset photos! I guess there are some reasons (ok, maybe just this one..) to be grateful for the time change. We can all enjoy the view before my youngest is tired and I’m settling him into bed.

I’m also so grateful for thousand trails. I make my route based off where these are located and book a week or two at a time. It’s been super convenient for us and saves us a lot of money on reservations!

Anyone else have a picky eater?

Hubs makes the boys breakfast every morning. We’ve lovingly called it “daddy’s cafe” for a few years now.

Liam has been refusing a lot of meals lately. With a lot of encouragement (andddd the patience of a saint) we manage to keep him fed, but I do worry often if his body is getting all it needs.

He didn’t want a smoothie this morning (my go to for sneaking in spinach), or waffles.. his old cereal is sitting on the table. So I asked him what I could make for him.

“I don’t like cereal..” he tells me. “No worries, bud. How about some eggs?” I offer.

“Yes!! Make them scrambled.. no dippy! With toast! A sandwich!”

Eggs never let me down. Look at that face 🥰

Visiting here made me miss my grandparents. I so wish my kiddos could have visited here with them today. My grandfather never met my boys and we just lost my grandma earlier this year. Felt very close to them today.

Visiting friends and fam in Columbus. This KOA is so cute! I’m very excited to meet the goat I spied at the petting zoo. The inflatables were such a hit today. Super happy we get to enjoy this on the off season.

I’d like to call this one, “Mentally prepping for moving day…”

We’re still pretty new to this. So packing up our house and moving it several hours in one day with young children and our traveling zoo is a lot to take on.

We’ve been through trailer brakes not engaging, broken valve stems on tires making us dependent on the spare, fridge door opening during move and exploding, berkey filter tipping over creating a mini flood, slides breaking on the rig and a cat pooping in the carrier in the truck..

I know we could have it much worse and I’m grateful for these learning opportunities. Without them we wouldn’t be on this crazy adventure and growing together as a couple. So thank you, dear husband and commander of our ship. We couldn’t do this without you ❤️

It’s pirate weekend at Hershey RV! We just finished a treasure dig and the boys found candy, eye patches, mermaid shells and some free root beer float coupons! We’ll use them at the pool this afternoon 😎

After the pool we’re going to have family gaming time on Roblox playing Treasure Hunt! It’s our new family fav and we’re really looking forward to it.

Tonight we’ll have a fire and do the Hershey howl to say goodbye, then back to Ohio for family time. ❤️

We finally made it to Hershey Park! This was such a fun experience for us. The kiddie rides were intermingled with the rollercoasters so we could split up and fulfill each kids needs. The water park and wave pool were amazing! Landon went on his first coaster called the trailblazer, though he’s not totally sold on it yet. Liam loved it. We even saw a marine show with rescued animals.

We finished the day at the Chocolatier Restaurant and super indulged on chocolatey goodness. I had a chocolate martini and chocolate BBQ sauce on my meal. Josh found vegan options on the menu with a beyond burger that had peanut butter hummus as well as a Reese’s inspired old fashioned drink.

We can’t wait to go back!

The sky put on such a show for us last night as we explored day 2 of the driving tour at Gettysburg. We climbed little round top and through the rocks at the devil’s den. We listened to a walking tour that told us stories of the soldiers and their leaders as they did the unimaginable. I saw a change in my husband as he quietly looked over the field.

It’s a very surreal feeling to witness your children climbing rocks and playing where so many lives were lost. Feeling very grateful that my veteran hubs is here to make our sons waffles this morning.

This is such a life saver. Open neutrals may start a fire 😧

Fortunately, we were able to dog bone to 30 amp. After 6 hours on the road we can’t afford not to unload and give kids and pets a rest. Hoping maintenance can help us out tomorrow for 50 amp. It’s humid in Gettysburg, PA.

Wednesday down day. We had a small thunderstorm last night so everyone was up late worrying. We even lost power twice! ⛈

We used to take lots of time off in our sticks and bricks just hanging at home in our PJs together. This doesn’t feel any different, besides being surrounded by giant beautiful trees. 🌲

We’re staying near Cook Forest in PA in a park called “Kalyumet.” We’ve been creeking, bicycling, hiking, getting loads of family time with grandparents, cousins and a very special aunt. Using this day to rest and prepare for a long weekend since dad took the next two days off! Hoping to go canoeing and ride some bumper boats 🙂

We’ve taken a break for family time. Now we want to share what we’ve been up to! We established a family base on our family’s dairy farm in northeast Ohio. We’ve been having so much fun helping bale hay, drive tractors, play with barn kitties and most importantly be with family.

We’ll be hanging here for a while and then we’re off to Pennsylvania to explore!

Side table hack.

We ventured to Costco on a whim. I had a bunch of frozen and cold items in my cart but we were on our way to the beach. I thought about going to aldi to buy some cold bags since I left mine at home…

Then I passed through the summer section on my way to checkout. They had this amazing cooler for a good price and I considered how nice it would be to have a beach cooler anyway.

Now it lives in our living area as a side table. Landon likes to store stuffed animals in it. I like it. Baby shark decor always appropriate. 🦈
