The Halfway Tree police are investigating the shooting death of a man along Halfway Tree Road last night.

The deceased is 46-year-old Fulton Green, of an unknown address.

Reports indicate that around 9:40 pm on Sunday, armed men approached Mr. Fulton at a location along Halfway Tree Road and opened fire, hitting him. He was transported to the Kingston Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The lead singer of Morgan Heritage, Peter Anthony Morgan, has passed away. Affectionately known as ‘Peetah,’ he died on Sunday, as confirmed by a family post. The cause of his passing was not disclosed.

The family’s statement reads, “It is out of sincere love that we share that our beloved husband, father, son, and brother, and lead singer of Morgan Heritage, Peter Anthony Morgan, has ascended today, February 25th, 2024. Jah, come and save us from ourselves because love is the only way.”

Expressing gratitude for the anticipated love and support, the family requests continued prayers and privacy during this healing process. The Kingston West Police are investigating the shooting death of a 16-year-old St. Andrew Technical student last night at her Admiral Town home.

The deceased has been identified as Bianca Thompson, late of Albion Avenue, Admiral Town.

Reports indicate that the teen was at home when gunmen entered her yard and opened fire on the house. She sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her face and upper body, resulting in her immediate death. Her body was subsequently transported to the Kingston Public Hospital.

The Kingston Central police are investigating the shooting death of a man in Mark Lane by gunmen about 7:45 on Thursday evening.

The deceased is a 30-year-old man identified as Romaine Palmer, who was a Warehouse Worker late of a Mark Lane address.

Reports are that Mr. Palmer was in the Mark Lane area when he was approached by armed assailant (s) who opened gunfire, hitting him. Mr. Palmer was pronounced dead at the Kingston Public Hospital.

The St Thomas Police swept the streets of another illegal firearm at a party in Eleven Miles, Bull Bay, early this morning.

According to information received, a police/military team, acting on intelligence, searched about 200 patrons at a party. During the search, they found one .380mm pistol fitted with a magazine containing 11 .380 rounds tucked inside a bucket.

No one has been arrested in connection with the finding.

Detectives from the May Pen Police Station are currently investigating the stabbing death of a man that occurred on Monday evening in Cockpit, Lionel Town.

The deceased, identified as 62-year-old Bonita Stewart, also known as Mickey, was a farmer from Cockpit District in Clarendon.

Reports are that Mr. Stewart engaged in an altercation with another man, resulting in a physical confrontation. During the altercation, the other man used a knife to inflict several stab wounds on Mr. Stewart’s back.

Mr. Stewart was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The other man involved has since turned himself into the police.

The St. Catherine South detectives are investigating the murder of a man who was shot and killed along Steven Avenue in Caymanas, Gregory Park, on Sunday evening.

The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Sheldon Chambers, of a Steven Avenue address.

Information suggests that around 5 pm on Sunday, Mr. Chambers was on Steven Avenue when unknown assailant(s) approached and opened gunfire, hitting him. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Morant Bay police are investigating the killing of a man who was shot dead by a gunman in his business establishment in Shanty Town, St. Thomas.

The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Delvin Hayles, also known as Short Boss, a Bar Operator in Shanty Town, Seaforth, St. Thomas.

Reports are that about 8:30 pm on Thursday, Mr. Hayles was at a bar he operates, named ‘Love’s Stop Bar,’ when a lone gunman approached and opened fire, hitting him. Mr. Hayles was then transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The police have yet to establish a motive for the killing.

A police officer is currently recovering from injuries inflicted when a mentally ill man threw a stone, hitting the cop in the head on Thursday morning.

Reports are that about 9:45 yesterday, the police officer encountered the individual on the premises of Scotiabank and attempted to remove him. In response, the mentally ill man flung a stone, striking the officer in the head.

The injured police officer was transported to the Kingston Public Hospital, where he received treatment and was subsequently released.

Fortunately, his injuries are reported to be minor.

The St Thomas police seized a high-powered rifle and twenty-nine 5.56 assorted rounds of ammunition last night in Yallas.

Information is that about 9:30 on Thursday night, police conducted raids at premises in the Tankwell Scheme area of Bull Bay, St Thomas, when the illegal weapon was found.

No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.

The Morrant Bay police are investigating.

The Westmoreland police are investigating the killing of a 19-year-old man who was shot and killed by gunmen while sitting inside a yard in Crowder District, Grange Hill.

The deceased has been identified as Devonte Brown, unemployed, of Crowder District, Grange Hill, Westmoreland.

Reports are that Mr. Brown was sitting in a yard, conversing with friends, when armed men entered and opened fire, hitting him.

The men then successfully fled the area.

The injured man was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that King Charles is facing a health challenge as he has been diagnosed with a form of cancer discovered during recent treatment for an enlarged prostate.

While the specific type of cancer has not been disclosed, the King has begun “regular treatments” with a resolute and positive attitude. He will temporarily step back from public engagements, and other senior royals are expected to stand in for him during this period.

A 23-year-old man, identified as Shavon Salmon from a Retirement address in St. Elizabeth, tragically lost his life due to injuries sustained in an accident along the Cedar Spring Main Road on Saturday afternoon.

Reports are that the incident occurred around 2:10 pm when Mr. Salmon was aboard a white Intercontinental truck traveling along Cedar Spring Main Road in Maggoty. He allegedly fell from the truck onto the road. He sustained severe injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Friends and family mourns the loss of Mr. Salmon in this unfortunate accident.

The Maggoty Police are investigating.

The U.S. has launched airstrikes in Iraq and Syria against Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affiliated groups, marking a “multi-tiered” response to a fatal drone attack that claimed the lives of three American soldiers last Sunday. Conducted by U.S. forces, the airstrikes so far targeted several locations associated with the IRGC’s elite Quds Force and affiliated militias, utilizing numerous aircraft, including long-range bombers dispatched from the United States.

In a statement on Friday, President Biden asserted, “Our response began today. It will continue at times and places of our choosing.” The operation utilized over 125 precision munitions to strike command and intelligence centers, storage facilities for rockets, missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles, along with logistics and munition supply chain facilities linked to “militia groups and their IRGC sponsors who facilitated attacks against U.S. and coalition forces,” according to U.S. Central Command.

President Biden, emphasizing that the U.S. does not seek conflict but will respond to harm against Americans, mentioned the decision to initiate the response. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, earlier in the week, conveyed plans for a series of strikes targeting facilities and personnel associated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Iraq and Syria.

The administration attributes the drone strike to the Islamic Resistance of Iraq, a group of militias backed by Iran. Secretary Austin highlighted the uncertainty regarding Iran’s prior knowledge of the drone attack but emphasized Iran’s sponsorship, funding, and, in some cases, training of these groups in advanced conventional weapons.

While Iranian-backed groups have launched over 160 attacks against U.S. forces in Iraq and Syria since October, it was only with the recent drone strike in Jordan that U.S. service members were killed. In a much-anticipated announcement, Prime Minister Andrew Holness has officially announced the date for the long-awaited local government elections. The revelation, made at the Montego Bay Convention Centre, brings a sense of resolution to the prolonged anticipation surrounding this crucial political event, with the election scheduled for February 26, 2024, and the nomination date for February 8, 2024.

Against this backdrop, Holness launched the JLP’s local government elections campaign, skillfully weaving a narrative that drew on his journey from humble beginnings in Spanish Town, St Catherine, to the forefront of Jamaican politics. A 21-year-old call center worker, identified as Jamaul Spence, was shot and killed by unknown assailants in Gregory Park yesterday.

Reports indicate that around 2:15 pm on Wednesday, the now-deceased was standing in a yard along Melvin Avenue in Caymanas, St. Catherine, when he was approached by armed men who opened fire, hitting him multiple times.

Spence was rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The St. Catherine South police are investigating.

Tragedy struck on Tuesday night in Barrett Town, St. James, as a man lost his life in a fire that engulfed a concrete and board-structured dwelling.

Reports indicate that about 9:15 pm on Thursday, residents observed flames emanating from the building, prompting them to alert the fire department. Despite citizens’ attempts to control the fire, their efforts proved unsuccessful.

Following the cooling-down process, the charred remains of a man identified as Roy Scott were found amidst the debris. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

The Barrett Town police are investigating.

The St. James Police have arrested a male and a female in relation to the seizure of an illegal firearm that was found inside their premises on Monday morning.

Information is that about 6:30 am on Monday, police from the St James Division carried out a targeted raid at a premises in Plantation Heights, Cambridge, when one Ta**us 9mm pistol with a magazine containing seven 9mm rounds was found.

The St Elizabeth police seized approximately 500 pounds of green vegetable matter resembling g***a in Arlington, Black River, St. Elizabeth, sometime Saturday afternoon.

Information is that members of the JCF Narcotics Division conducted raids on the premises when the drug was found. No one was arrested in connection with the find.

A 39-year-old woman identified as Latiesha ‘Munchie’ Vassell, late of a Metcalfe Road address in Kingston 13, was shot and killed by gunmen, while a man known as ‘Cowboy’ was also shot and injured in the incident.

Information is that about 7:30 pm, both victims were along Ashley Road in St Andrew when gunmen alighted from a silver motorcar and opened gunfire, hitting them before making good their escape in the area. Both victims were rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital, where Munchie was pronounced dead and Cowboy was undergoing treatment.

The St Andrew South police are investigating.

A 32-year-old taxi operator, identified as Ricardo Bailey, was shot and killed last night in Bedward Garden, August Town, by unknown assailant(s).

Reports indicate that Bailey drove a grey 2014 Toyota Corolla Fielder into the community when gunmen attacked him. He fled the vehicle, leading to a chase of about a thousand meters before he was shot multiple times. He was later pronounced dead.

The Half Way Tree C.I.B. is currently investigating the incident.

Taxi caught fire along Red Hills Road, St Andrew

A taxi operator was shot and killed last night along South Camp Road, in the vicinity of the East Queen Street intersection. Information is that the taxi driver turned at the traffic signal at East Queen Street and entered onto South Camp Road when he was attacked and shot multiple times. He died on the spot. The police have not yet established a motive for the killing. ((Video on Instagram))

One man was shot and killed, and another escaped in a foiled robbery last night by a licensed firearm holder at a bar in Mandeville. Allegations are that at about 11 pm, two men entered a bar in Mandeville. One of the men ordered a drink before pulling a firearm and attempting to rob the bartender. The license firearm holder saw what was happening. He intervened and was challenged by the gunmen in a shootout. One man was later found suffering from gunshot wounds, clutching a pistol. The police were alerted, and the injured man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Residents of Bull Bay, St. Andrew, stumbled upon the body of a male in Cane River late this afternoon and summoned the police. The body was seen laying face down with its hands bound and a gunshot wound to the head. Updates to follow.
