Still seeing an isssue, we’ve working on it all morning going through each piece of equipment, at this point we are pretty sure in is outside interference getting into either our equipment or just interfering with the signal we are receiving. This appears to be affecting our equipment, so far the signal we are receiving is looking good, it is getting knocked down as we try to process and send out. This leaves us with a bit of a problem, we have two ideas we are looking at implementing, the first one is a change in how we move the signal up the tower to the radio, the second is leaving the receive site and doing this entirely different. I will update when I have more information. For now we are going to have episodes of pixelated channels, blocking or blanking out, as interference works, it comes and goes.

We finished the Microwave upgrade this evening, I’m sure we will have some bugs to work out of the new equipment so please bear with me. This was a huge project, I did have some great help, Carbon Counties Tech Bryan spent time on a couple of mountain tops assisting Strata Networks tower crew while I was on the other end with the other half of the crew. Everyone busted their butts to get this done as quickly and as painless as possible. Several hunderd miles covered four paths removed and new equipment installed, realigned and tuned, hours of configuration and programming, not to mention the months invested getting all the equipment ready to go to help this go as smooth as we could. The Eastern Utah Television Association has really helped to keep this system up and FREE, if you were didn’t know, this Association is comprised of six counties (Dagget, Uintah, Duchesne, Carbon, Emery and San Juan). This network delivers the signal to each County, we all take care of it together, we are a small group, but we have been able to achieve so really cool things. The Commissioners from each of these Counties have always been invested and committed to this system, without them, this would not survive. Thanks to everyone who helped out, now to fix all the little things we broke…. Terry

After storm delays we are finally going on the upgrade project, hope to have Tabby done today and have all the channels back up in Duchesne County later tonight, Vernal (Blue Mtn) will be up hopefully by tomorrow night and Dagget County back Friday night, lots of work to do! Stay tuned!!

12/08/2023

We will be doing a major system update starting on August 21 to August 25; we will be replacing the old microwave equipment that brings all of the channels to the sites. We will be starting on the path from Ford Ridge in Helper to Tabby Mountain, this will take everything down all the way to Dutch John and Manila. This is a huge project, we’ve hired a great tower crew to assist us as this is a big project. Please be patient with us, we have a bunch of work removing the old equipment, installing the new equipment and getting all the channels converted to the new input stream. Expect long periods with every site down while we do this work. We have the whole week scheduled but we are going to bust our butts to get this done quickly and safely! Once we have this completed, we will have management network to help us fix thing more rapidly and it will give me the ability to monitor the equipment and hopefully catch issues before they become outages. As with anything new, I anticipate some bugs that will need to worked out, we have put a lot of time into this to anticipate those bugs and address them before we start the project. I will update this page as we progress and thing start to come back online. Please share this to everyone you know who uses the free TV network.
Thanks again!
Terry

I will be working on the transmitters on Blue Mountain today, mainly on Ch. 2 this will be off the air while I install the new transmitter, once completed everything should come back on, if you are missing channels, please rescan your TV. Shouldn’t be off the air for more than an hour if all goes good, worse case 2 hours.

Thanks!
Terry

Been on the mountain all day, fixing everything I could, had to move Ch. 30 to a different transmitter so you will need to re-scan if you receive you signal from Tabby Mountain. I have retuned Duchesne and Butchknife you will not need to rescan but it wouldn’t hurt as it’s been down for a while. Found another bad transmitter in Duchesne and move to my spare so Ch 30 and KJZZ 14.1 are back on the air.

Unfortunately I have bigger problems getting the signal to Fruitland, all the equipment feeding this across the mountain is older equipment and it’s failing, I’ve got to go through my parts and see if I can repair things enough to get this system working again, I have some ideas but mot the funds at the moment. I will be working with the Comission to see if we can put together a plan to improve the Fruitland signal delivery.

18/04/2023

The old spare transmitter for Fox 13 on Blue Mountain has given up, unfortunately I do not have any spares left, that unit was 35 years old and the last one I had that was operational. Good new is we have ordered some new transmitters, they will be here in approximately 4 weeks hopefully we will be able to drive in to the site and we can get the new units on the air soon.

15/10/2022

Having an issues with a power controller on Tabby Mountain this has Channel 13 and Channel 11 off the air. I will be making a trip to the mountain ASAP to get this resolved.

11/07/2022

Having some power issues on Tabby Mountain, I’ve been able to get some back on the air but will have to make a trip to get the others back up. It will be later this afternoon before I can go to the mountain.

07/07/2022

We have a power outage at our main feed site in Utah County, the power company is making the repaired and estimate the power will be restored by 4 this afternoon.

03/07/2022

It’s been a very long day but we have everything back on the air, we did run into an issue with KBYU, if you receive your signal from Tabby Mountain you will need to rescan to get it back. If you get your signal from Duchesne or Butcherknife (Bluebell) I will have it fixed tomorrow. We had to change frequency as one of the new transmitters has an issue. Thank you for your patience, a much needed upgrade!

01/07/2022

After a very long wait do to supply chain issues, I finally have the new equipment for the Tabby Mountain site. These are the oldest transmitters in the system, have been rebuilt many many times and, they are tired.
I will be on the mountain this Saturday July 2 installing the new equipment, the goal is to get this all done Saturday, there will be long periods where channels will be off while we remove and replace the equipment. stay tuned!

***UPDATE***
As of this morning, everything is back on the air, I have gone through all the channels on Tabby, Butcherknife, and Blue Mtn, everything is on the air. I haven’t been able to check Duchesne or Fruitland, if you’re in those area and still have channels missing please comment below and I will work on getting them fixed.
Thanks!

14/04/2022

***UPDATE #2***
The Emery County and Carbon County techs braved the weather and got up the mountain and made the repairs to the Microwave Dish, everything is back in alignment and locked down tight. All of the channels are back on the air, I still have an issue on Channel 5 on the Duchesne County side, no ETA at this point on when I will have that repaired.

13/04/2022

**UPDATE**
We were able to get some of the channels back on the air, unfortunately until the weather settles down we will not be able to get everything back. The wind has caused some bigger issues with our equipment on the towers and we will need to get on the towers and re-align the paths to fix it. For now we have: 2, 4, 5, 7, 13, 14 back on the air. I have some issues on Tabby with the Ch 5 transmitter so it is still down in Duchesne County.

12/04/2022

The wind and storms moving through Utah are causing a bunch of problems with our feeds to the transmitter sites. Hopefully when this all calms down things will stabilize and the links will come back up and the signal will be restored.

08/10/2021

Big power outage from Fruitland to Daniels Summit, the Tabby Mountain site could be affected by this, also, some big storms are moving through the area that could affect the signal on the Microwave network, this can cause channels to drop out, could cause all channels to go down.

07/09/2021

Notice of planned outage and Maintenance:
We will be changing out the power meter base and installing a new electrical panel on the Butcherknife site located in Bluebell tomorrow 9-8-2021 in the morning. We don’t anticipate having the site down for an extended duration, however it is possible it could take most of the day. This will affect residents in Roosevelt, Myton, Bluebell, Neola, Cedarview, Farmcreek and potentially other areas around the site. This is a much needed upgrade to an aging power system.
Thanks for your patience while we get this completed.

18/08/2021

Weather is cause issues, all channels are down at the moment, all we can do is wait for the thunderstorms to pass.

10/08/2021

Ch 5 on Tabby Mountain finally gave up yesterday, this transmitter is over 30 years old and has been rebuilt numerous times, parts are not available anymore so we are looking at a new company. I will be installing a new transmitter tomorrow, if all goes good Ch 5 will be back on the air. The Duchesne County Commissioners are aware of the issues and we are working on a plan to update the equipment. Stay tuned!

23/07/2021

All the channels are down, not sure if we are having a power issue on Tabby or of the problem is in Carbon County, pretty big storm hitting Carbon County at the moment. Trying to determine where the problem is so we can get it repaired.

02/07/2021

Having an issue with Ch.2 & Ch. 16 we are looking into the issue and hope to have this resolved ASAP. This is system wide from Tabby to Dutch John and Manila.

16/06/2021

All work is complete on Tabby Mountain and all the channels are back on the air, thank you for your patience while we got this project finished up.

16/06/2021

Today we will be doing a much needed power upgrade on the Tabby Mountain site, this will affect the entire Uintah Basin, as well as Dutch John and Manila. I really don’t have a time frame on how long this will take as there is a lot to do today, hopefully things will go smooth!
I will update this post when we get everything finished up and the channels back on the air.
Thank you all for you patience.

26/04/2021

Carbon County technician called and let me know they replaced some of the equipment on the main feed site on Lake Mountian, he has been monitoring and so far things seem to be happy. Hopefully this will solve the issue.

21/04/2021

The network had an issue that started last night and was still happening this morning, the Carbon County tech thought we had it narrows down to an Ethernet switch on Ford Ridge, he wasn’t able to get into the site, however, by the time he got back to his office in Price the problem began to clear itself. We really do t have any idea what was happening but he is looking through logs and diagnostics to see if he can pin point the issue. I’ve checked with a few viewers around the system and they all have solid reception now, we will continue to monitor, hopefully things have settled down now.

21/04/2021

We will be replacing the power meter and upgrading the power into the Duchesne TV site tomorrow 4/21/21 starting at 9:00 am. This will take everything off the air in The Duchesne area, I don’t have a time frame for the duration of the outage but I am hopeful we can get this done quickly. Thanks for your patience!

16/04/2021

This weather is really hitting the mountain pretty hard and the signal is going in and out. Hopefully the repairs we made to the power will hold and things will come back after the storm passes.

13/04/2021

Finally made to the mountain after a pretty extensive snow cat trip to find that we have had a major failure in the power system to the building. Moon Lake has been notified and they are dispatching a crew to help me get this repaired, from the smell in the building I’m worried that our transmitters have been damaged, one thing at a time, once we have power restored we will attempt to get things back up and working.

12/04/2021

We have an issue on our Tabby Mountain Main site, not sure what exactly is going on but this also feeds our Duchesne, Fruitland, and Butcherknife sites. I am trying to gather more information and I am trying to find out if I can drive into the site, I hope to have this resolved soon.

07/04/2021

Moon Lake is doing Maintenance on the power lines in Hanna this morning, this has the main site in Tabby Mountain, this affects all the sites in the system, scheduled to be down 3 hours.

23/07/2020

Fruitland Area, the transmitter for Fox 13 has been replaced. Fox 13 should be back on the air. Over the weekend we will be adding the CW 30 to the line up, this will also fix the missing KJZZ 14 channel issues. Thank you for your patience!!

11/07/2020

Blue Mtn Viewers, I have an Air Conditioning unit down at the site, I picked up a new one and will be installing it tomorrow, channels may go off a few times while I fix a few issues with the transmitters, I will update when I get things fixed and back on the air.

Butcherknife Viewers, an air conditioning unit is failing on this site, I have a new unit for it, could be Monday before I can get it replaced, as of now everything is up and happy.

30/06/2020

All Over the air TV viewers, we are fighting through an outage that is affecting 14.1 and it’s sub channels, 4.1 and it’s sub channels, and some of the 16.1 group. 30.1 and it’s sub channels are affected as well.
Channel 14 made a change to their 14.1 main channel to the ATSC 3.0 platform and moved the other channels they own around, all of 30, 14, 2, and 4 are owned by the same company. Doing this changes the mapping on our decoding equipment so that all has to be reprogrammed to accept the new channel scheme. As it usually goes, things didn’t go well and we have our Emery county Tech working on fixing the programming. Unfortunately he may need to go to Lake Mountain but may not be able to get to the site due to the fire. All we can do is wait and hope things work after the next round of reprogramming. Worst case, I will have to go to each site and reboot my equipment after the reprogramming, we are hoping that will not be the case.

31/05/2020

Rebooted the transmitters on the Tabby Mountain site, everything is back on the air.

Fruitland should have Fox 13 back on the air and we are waiting on parts to get KUED Ch. 7 back on the air hopefully we can get that done this week.

13/03/2020

Vernal Area / Uintah County; we currently have KJZZ 14 off the air, we have a bad transmitter and we are waiting on parts, unfortunately I do not have a time frame to receive the equipment. As soon as I have more info or if I get the equipment I will get things repaired as quickly as I can. With this new equipment, we anticipated we may have a few problems, unfortunately the spare equipment that I had has been deployed, we have identified the problem and the manufacturer is working diligently to repair and return the transmitters as quickly as they can.

10/12/2019

Fruitland area, I was finally able to get to the site with the help of my friend from KUED Ch. 7 in Salt Lake, we reset all the equipment and everything is back on the air. I talked to my main contact there in Fruitland and verified everything was back. Sorry for the delay! With all the changes we had to make this year things got away from me and now we have snow on the ground and I have a broken Snow Cat... on to the next repair!

30/11/2019

Just got word from the Carbon County Tech, he was able to get the Generator fixed and we are running on that. Sounds like the power issue is worse than I first thought. Hopefully the generator will hang tough and keep things happy while the power crews work to restore the power.

30/11/2019

Looks like they have the power back on, things should be back on the air.

30/11/2019

Still waiting for the power to be restored on Ford Ridge, not sure how long this is going to take. The weather has been a huge problem, hopefully they will be able to make some progress today.
