DO YOU AGREE? 🧐
The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 pushed the education system into a place where Standards Based Learning was TOP priority. In layman’s terms it caused for an EXTREME push for academics and our favorite 🙃 standardized testing. Leaving no real significant space for wellness checks or consistent conversations about mental health. 🤯
Maybe it is time to put academics on the back burner 🤷🏾♀️ what do you think?

Oftentimes teachers are asked to do more tasks than can fit into a day.... and this was PRE-COVID. Now, consider what these asks have transformed into during remote learning! 🤯 We all have to normalize NOT single-handedly taking on the responsibility of making up for the losses of a broken system. We are not superhuman, we are not bionic. 🦾 We must create and communicate our boundaries.

We've OFFICIALLY reached 3,000 plays on The Reformist Pipeline Podcast 🎙 and can't thank y'all 🙏🏾enough for the overwhelming amount of support that we've received. In under a year, we've brainstormed🧠, recorded📼🎥, and launched a Podcast✊🏾. However, this isn't just a podcast to us, this is a platform🎤.
Although I'm excited about 3,000 listens🎧, this is only the beginning of so much work that has to be done. The work of uplifting Educator 👨🏾🏫👩🏿🏫👨🏽🏫👩🏾🏫 voices is of utter importance as well as bringing value to the education system. 🏝SUMMER -SUMMER TIME!🏖
I remember the first time I was able to go back to Belize after graduating🎓📜. It was truly one of the best experiences of my life. To be able to travel HOME🇧🇿 and celebrating with my amazing family is truly an experience that no amount of money can buy.
Looking back, I’m proud of ME for saying NO. 🙅🏽♂️🙅🏿Educators constantly are expected to put there desires on the back burners and often times opt into decisions that don’t benefit them. Schools have opened with NO uniform criteria for reopening issued by our federal government. It’s insane! Schools in hot spots are teaching in-person with no real and consistent social distancing while there are other states/counties doing their best to prioritize health by calling for a remote start.
Children ARE contracting and transmitting the virus! Teachers are being forced to decide between their career and their health. IT'S JUST NOT RIGHT.
