LOOK: The Department of Public Works and Highways – Aurora District Engineering Office reports that the K0250+000 section of Baler-Casiguran Road in Barangay Gupa in Dipaculao town is hardly passable as of 1 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 17, 2024), due to rocks being strewn across the road, caused by strong waves from Super Typhoon .

DPWH Aurora District Maintenance Engineer Fredelito Mingua said the situation is being closely monitored, with all equipment on standby and continuous road condition monitoring in place.

A magnitude 5.1 Earthquake in ILOCOS NORTE and CAGAYAN VALLEY.

JUST IN | A magnitude 5.1 earthquake jolted Cagayan and Ilocos Norte at 5:39 a.m. on Thursday (Oct. 31, 2024).

With epicenter located at 20 kilometers northwest of Dalupiri Island (Calayan) in Cagayan, the earthquake was tectonic in origin with a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

Residents in these areas are advised to take precautionary measures as aftershocks are expected while no damage was recorded far, authorities said. | Leilanie Adriano

BREAKING: is now a super typhoon, according to weather bureau PAGASA.

Leon (international name Kong-rey) was last tracked 360 km. east of Calayan, Cagayan as of 10 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 30, 2024)

It is packing maximum sustained winds of up to 185 km. per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph. It is moving west northwest at 10 kph.

The House committee on appropriations has deferred the deliberations of the Office of the Vice President’s P2 billion proposed budget for 2025 amid the refusal of Vice President Sara Duterte to answer how her office uses its budget.

At one point during the discussions on the disallowance of the P73-million spending of the OVP of its confidential funds in 2022, Duterte asked the panel to replace the presiding officer, Marikina Rep. Stella Quimbo, the vice chairperson of the committee.
