The Octagon Museum will host the first live show of the podcast and feature a moderated conversation between G. Derek Musgrove, Associate Professor of History at University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and Sarah Shoenfeld of Prologue DC. The focus of the discussion will be on the work they have been doing with Nakita Reed, to elevate 20th century Civil Rights sites and Black Power sites within Washington, DC. The importance of this work will be discussed in the context of the various policies and racial politics that have shaped the city.

Announcing the 2022 Charles E. Peterson Prize Competition!

The Heritage Documentation Programs, NPS, The American Institute of Architects, The Athenaeum of Philadelphia, and APT - The Association for Preservation Technology International announce the 2022 Charles E. Peterson Prize, which annually recognizes the best set of measured drawings prepared to HDP standards and donated to HDP by students.

The prize honors Charles E. Peterson, FAIA, founder of the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS), and is intended to increase awareness, knowledge, and appreciation of historic buildings, structures, and cultural landscapes throughout the United States while adding to the permanent HABS/HAER/HALS Collection of measured drawings at The Library of Congress.

AWARD AMOUNTS
First Place: $5,000 and Certificate
Second Place: $3,000 and Certificate
Third Place: $2,000 and Certificate

SCHEDULE
1 June 2020: entry forms due
1 June 2020: completed entries due
August 2020: Peterson Prize Jury
November 2020: Peterson Prize awards ceremony

COST
There is no cost for entering the competition.
