The Woman to Woman Luncheon benefiting the Jewish Family Service of Greater Dallas was hosted this spring at the Fairmont Dallas. This event featured stories of inspiration, hope and the importance of “Being Yourself,” as emphasized by makeup artist, entrepreneur, and author, Bobbi Brown.

Brown, who headlined the event, shared her mission of empowering women to “feel confident in their skin” and her passion to help them achieve this goal.

“Hope Unbridled,” Equest’s 43rd Annual Blue Ribbon Gala took place this year at the Hilton Anatole. This beautiful event was hosted by Gala co-chairs Calvert Collins-Bratton and Melissa Oates, along with Lisa Loy Laughlin, Interim CEO, and honorary chairs Kristy and Patrick Sands. Emcee was Jody Dean, a member of the Texas Radio Hall of Fame, and longtime supporter. With grateful support of sponsors, underwriters, friends and patrons, the gala netted $299,453.

Founded in 1981, Equest provides equine assisted learning, therapies and counseling to children and adults with physical, cognitive, sensory, coping and learning disabilities, as well as veterans who receive all of Equest’s services at no charge.

delighted to announce community and business leaders Denise and Ray Nixon and Meredith and Scottie Scheffler as honorary chairs. The community is invited to attend the gala on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at the Dallas Country Club and learn more about the nonprofit as they share news of past and ongoing missions, awards, recognitions and updates on future plans. Cheers to the Dads! This Father’s Day, mix up this simple yet timeless cocktail to toast the special dad in your life!

Classic Old Fashioned
· 1 teaspoon sugar
· 3 dashes Angostura bitters
· 1 teaspoon water
· 2 ounces bourbon (or rye whiskey, if preferred)
· Garnish: orange twist

1. Add the sugar and bitters into a mixing glass, then add the water, and stir until the sugar is nearly dissolved.
2. Fill the mixing glass with ice, add the bourbon, and stir until well-chilled.
3. Strain into a rocks glass over one large ice cube.
4. Express the oil of an orange twist over the glass, then drop into the glass to garnish.

This delicious Blackberry Margarita recipe from our friends at is a must have this summer!

- 2 shots Corrido Blanco Tequila
- 1 shot Blackberry syrup, store-bought or homemade
- 1 shot triple sec
- 1 ½ oz fresh Lime juice
- Black Salt for Rim

- Combine Tequila, blackberry syrup, Triple Sec, and lime juice in to a shaker cup.
- Shake well until very cold.
- Pour in to an old fashioned cocktail glass with ice.
- Garnish with fresh blackberries and dried lime wheel.
