Story wrote on 2021 , I try to call Jeffrin, Ketua ( Chief Village ) Kampung Luanti in Sabah, during this pandemic I will checking some of the old friend, some good, some bad, some got covid, some in the icu and some pass away. I can’t get through the phone of Jeffrin, so I google the web, the ketua kampung already change people, found the number of the home stay in Kampung Luanti, the person answer is Jeffrin’s daughter Intan, Intan told me that Jeffrin already pass aways due to cancer, he is very warm hospitality host, he develop the village to become a successful a tourism place, the specialities there is the Tagal ( no fishing ) fish spa , once you stand on the natural river, thousand of big fish (size like 2 feet long) will come under your feet, can ver exited , can be scary too. Intan told me everything have to stop due to the Covid 19,
Kampung Luanti is situated next to biggest tea plantation farm in Sabah, few years ago we did a filming for Petronas about the harvest festival, how they prepare for a festival, how they celebrate, how are cook, how they make the rice wine, how they have the beauty pageant contest and others activities, so Jeffrin is with us most of the time for the filming, Jeffrin have a mother call Siti, we call her Nenek, most of the people in the village is their relative. people here is very friendly and very sincere, the kids teach me how to sing the local song. I am a kampung boy, so I know how pure happness is a kampung boy.
I ask Intan how is Nenek? She told me Nenek now is 96 years old. she is healthy but most of the time is at home doing her Lilimbo, Lilimbo (weaving) is technique for making product woven from plant materials, she will sell them at the road side in her daughter’s grocery shop, she told me all the kids and grandchildren don’t want to learn. Nenek love me so much when we do the filming, she always sit with me, talk to me, sometime hold my hand 🙂 That is one day she wear traditional for the film interview, after interview, I invite her to the river behind and take some photos, she is very happy during the photo shoot, she never took so much photo before, that is lots of joy, lots of fun , lots of laughter, that is we how to take portrait, understand the subject, talk to the person , make them relax during the shoot, then just capture the moment, The print ad is an unplanned photo shoot.
We finished our shoot after 7 days, Nenek give all the crew a Lilimbo product as a gift, but she give me the biggest like a big basket, director ask why Nenek give me the big one, I say Nenek love me and I love Nenek, we hug and look at each other, we have tear in our eye before we say good bye to each other. I love to take photo, that is the only things I can do good, my photography can’t make me super rich, but it can make me life experience rich. I am blessed to meet so many amazing people in my life. I think that is only things I can bring to 6 feet under which is call Memory. Thank you

Happy Mother's Day
I went to PETRONAS Twin Tower for a meeting. i have serving my client PETRONAS as a photographer for the past 20 years. It was a very blessed journey for a person like me from a small kampung in east cost of Malaysia.
How I started ?
I love to watch TV when I was young, I watched a documentary about PETRONAS Adventure Team (PAT) who travels to Silk Road, I tell my self I want join them one day. When I finished study, I come to Kuala Lumpur to looking for work, before that I was working in the press and resort as a photographer too. In Kuala Lumpur I work in a butchering shop, try to change job as photographer to food business. At the end I don’t like the job then I work as a freelance photographer when I still using film camera. I like to take photo when is my free time. Business is hard as I am just started, don’t know anything.
I still keep my dream want to join the PAT , still think how to do it One day I took a photo of the KLCC around 2001/ 2002, then I develop more then 200 photo sent to PETRONAS twin tower ( the directory is at the lobby, it show the company name and floor ) I sent every floor hope someone is reply me or give me job… ( only 1 person reply me in letter who is Tan Sri Azman from Ambank, but no business then) I am lucky get one call from PETRONAS that time, her name is Miss Tan, she want to use my photo for a in-house magazine. I say ok , last time payment is around RM300. After that I still have some small small job of the magazine. I still ask around how to join the adventure team. No one can give me the answer. Because it have a different management. During that time I suddenly have an assignment to capture the PETRONAS SAUBER F1 TEAM become their team photographer in Malaysia, a kampung boy for me very exited, that is one day about the F1 demo day. The PAT car is there . So I took some photo and sent to them hope can get in touch with them but that time they already have their own photographer. I never give up and keep trying.
One day, Miss Tan have a new intern call Syed who sit beside her, then he told me his relative is mange the PAT, he help connect with me I am so happy, I try many time also not successful. During that time I still using film camera and in the transition time to change to digital, and I have the second year to shoo the F1 team, now they require digital, I don’t have money to change so I tell my problem to a mentor, Miss Wendy, a CEO for a company, she hear my problem, instantly bring me to the shop to buy new digital camera and apple computer. I return her the money part by part. I did successful in the digital photo for F1 team.
God is helping me, the photographer in PAT is fail in the project, because he start to use the digital camera and the result is not good. So the boss Halim in PAT call me ask me want to go or not, I say yes and not much money that time but he give me all the travel equipment, for a kampung boy I never go to oversea before, the first assignment is go to Mount Everest….. to cut the story short, My late boss Halim bring me to many counties, teach me lots of life lesson, trust me and give me opportunity to learn to take photo, do coffee table book , do exhibition…
My dream come true, and I have travel from Malaysia to Everest by driving 4x4, second year Malaysia to India , third year Amsterdam to Malaysia…
After PAT, I start to have assignment from refineries , offshore platform , ship, go on helicopter, things that normal people like me can’t see, also be in some very special project like Tapis EOR ,Gemusuk Kakap, Buiding PLNG1, Developing of Pengerang and a lot more interesting project. That is how I become a experience industrial photographer.
I thank you everyone who support and help me .I thank you my GOD who love me so much , all the glory go to God. He arrange the right person, right time and the right place to let me fulfil my small small dream.
