There is no god but He, the Exalted in Power, the Wise (TQM 3:18)…. And the Jinn race, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind.”(TQM 15:27). Believe in afterlife and eternity, therefore believes in resurrection and day of judgment. “The life of this world is alluring to those who reject faith, and they scoff at those who believe. But the righteous will be above them on the Day of
Resurrection; for God bestows His abundance without measure on whom He will.” (TQM 2:212). Believes mankind is created to worship Allah in this world, therefore observes the five pillars of Islam – five daily prayers, fasting in the month of Ramadan, once in a lifetime pilgrimage to Makkah, offering compulsory poor due or zakat for purification of wealth. “I have only created Jinns and men, that they may serve Me.”(TQM 51:56). Believes this world as a temporary passing time therefore focuses more on accumulating rewards for afterlife which is permanent. “"O my people! This life of the present is nothing but (temporary) convenience: It is the Hereafter that is the Home that will last.” (TQM 40:39). Peaceful and tolerant. “Those who show patience, Firmness and self-control; who are true (in word and deed); who worship devoutly; who spend (in the way of God); and who pray for forgiveness in the early hours of the morning.”(TQM 3:17). Safeguards morality and chastity. “And those who guard their chastity,…”(TQM 70:29). Believes in charities (sadaqah). “And be steadfast in prayer; practice regular charity; and bow down your heads with those who bow down (in worship).”(TQM 2:43). Lives a simple life. “O ye who believe! Truly the Pagans are unclean; so let them not, after this year of theirs, approach the Sacred Mosque. And if ye fear poverty, soon will God enrich you, if He wills, out of His bounty, for God is All-knowing, All-wise.”(TQM 9:28). Believes in all religions before Islam as continuation of divine guidance thus shows tolerance. “The Apostle believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord, as do the men of faith. Each one (of them) believeth in God, His angels, His books, and His apostles. "We make no distinction (they say) between one and another of His apostles." And they say: "We hear, and we obey: (We seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord, and to Thee is the end of all journeys."”(TQM 2:285). Believes being a member of s single brotherhood or ummah regardless of cultural and language barrier. It is due to present day politics and political government systems the ummah is divided with borders. “Mankind was one single nation, and God sent Messengers with glad tidings and warnings; and with them He sent the Book in truth, to judge between people in matters wherein they differed; but the People of the Book, after the clear Signs came to them, did not differ among themselves, except through selfish contumacy. God by His Grace Guided the believers to the Truth, concerning that wherein they differed. For God guided whom He will to a path that is straight.”(TQM 2:213). Believes in sharing and caring for other believers. “And remember We took your covenant (to this effect): Shed no blood amongst you, nor turn out your own people from your homes: and this ye solemnly ratified, and to this ye can bear witness.”(TQM 2:84). Believes it is sometimes necessary to stand up for truth and justice (jihad) in order to keep and maintain harmony and peace on earth. “And fight them on until there is no more Tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in God; but if they cease, Let there be no hostility except to those who practise oppression.” (TQM 2:193). Believes in constant struggle (jihad) against Satan for purification of soul until death. “O ye people! Eat of what is on earth, Lawful and good; and do not follow the footsteps of the evil one, for he is to you an avowed enemy.”(TQM 2:68). Believes that on the day of judgment all recorded acts will be shown and replayed in order to judge a person based on which a persons fate (of heaven and hell) will be determined. “On that Day will men proceed in companies sorted out, to be shown the deeds that they (had done).”(TQM 99:6). Believes in mankind as a single nation. “O mankind! reverence your Guardian-Lord, who created you from a single person, created, of like nature, His mate, and from them twain scattered (like seeds) countless men and women;- reverence God, through whom ye demand your mutual (rights), and (reverence) the wombs (That bore you): for God ever watches over you.”(TQM 4:1). Believes in and follows the guidance in the Qur’an and Sunnah as a standard form of way of life regardless of geographic location. Some influence may be seen due to climatic and cultural difference, but the basic belief, philosophy and practices are similar. “And hold fast, all together, by the rope which God (stretches out for you), and be not divided among yourselves; and remember with gratitude God's favour on you; for ye were enemies and He joined your hearts in love, so that by His Grace, ye became brethren; and ye were on the brink of the pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus doth God make His Signs clear to you: That ye may be guided.”(TQM 3:103). Believes in importance and influence of food habit on body and soul and therefore careful about the prohibitions (haram) and permitted (halal) options in life in food and habits. “He hath only forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and that on which any other name hath been invoked besides that of God. But if one is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- then is he guiltless. For God is Oft-forgiving Most Merciful.” (TQM 2:173). Believes that all humans are born Muslims but only due to their environment where they are born makes one a disbeliever. Therefore, believes in reversion of disbelievers to true religion (Islam) at any time. “Say: "O People of the Book! Come to common terms as between us and you: That we worship none but God; that we associate no partners with him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, Lords and patrons other than God." If then they turn back, say ye: "Bear witness that we (at least) are Muslims (bowing to God's Will).” (TQM 3:64). Believing men grows beard and wears lose fit simple outfits as a show of rejection and disinterest in worldly affairs. Believing women wears coverings (hijab) when in public. “And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husband's fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of s*x; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! turn ye all together towards God, that ye may attain Bliss.” (TQM 24:31). Do not believe in free mixing of s*xes and considers out of wedlock s*xual relationships immoral and punishable sin. “The woman and the man guilty of adultery or fornication, - flog each of them with a hundred stripes: Let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by God, if ye believe in God and the Last Day: and let a party of the Believers witness their punishment.” (TQM 24:2). Considers alcoholic or any intoxicating drinks to be harmful for body and soul and therefore do not consume. “O ye who believe! Intoxicants and gambling, (dedication of) stones, and (divination by) arrows, are an abomination,- of Satan's handwork: eschew such (abomination), that ye may prosper.” (TQM 5:90). Believes in equality of men and women before the law but has differences when it comes to authority and responsibility. “In the Law of Equality there is (saving of) Life to you, o ye men of understanding; that ye may restrain yourselves.” (TQM 2:179). Believing women are protected socially and financially as either her father or husband or brother or even male cousins are responsible to provide for her maintenance and sustenance as a result she gets to keep her part of wealth fully intact. See TQM Chapter 4: Women, verses 11, 12, and 176 as the verses are too long to quote. Children are seen a ‘trust’ (amanah) from God and therefore requires careful upbringing so that they could carry on the legacy of Islam. “Lost are those who slay their children, from folly, without knowledge, and forbid food which God hath provided for them, inventing (lies) against God. They have indeed gone astray and heeded no guidance.” (TQM 6:140). Islam is a complete way of life with the Qur’an as the constitution and Sunnah as the by-laws with a governance system called “Khilafah”; thus disallowing any scope for politics. “It is not fitting for a Believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by God and His Apostle to have any option about their decision: if any one disobeys God and His Apostle, he is indeed on a clearly wrong Path.” (TQM 33:36).
