Sunday exercise: a 9 km return walk along the Jarrahdale Heritage Trail. It took us 3 hours. It's dog-friendly, has lots of Birdlife from little finches to large red-tailed black cockatoos, beautiful wildflowers, and the finish line for us was the local tavern. The parmi was delicious, well deserved and washed down with a refreshing Guiness from the tap.

How was your Sunday?

No episode today, sorry. We are both too busy with work.
But that doesn't mean we don't have footage to share with you.
Like the shots from our trip through the weatbelt of WA.

So telling you, we are in Western Australia's outback, without telling you ... well, you know the saying.

The fly nets have been travelling with us since 2019. And finally, finally .... they are in use. Because ... yep,you need them in Outback Western Australia. 🤣🤣🤣

The Kookynie Hotel was a cool stop for a chat with locals while having a refreshing beverage before heading to our camp a few kilometres up the road. And since it's in Simon's Aussie Bush Pubs book, guess what? Yep, another signature has been collected 😇.

Ok, this is a bit of a long one, this episode. Simply because it was an extended hike and we didn't really want to cut it into two episodes. Therefore, we added some time stamps so you can jump to what you'd like to see.
First, we had to organise a stay for Dudley. Remember, in Australia you are not allowed to take domestic animals into National Parks.

We found a wonderful kennel in Katherine that has high recommendations: Rellams Pet Retreat . We booked Dudley in for a 72 hour stay - and he loved it. So we felt confident to use them for more stays, when we were not able to take Dudley with us, such as an upcoming 3 day trip to Darwin.

Once Dudley was happy in his temporary accommodation, we jumped right onto our first big adventure: hiking Nitmiluk National Park, and trying to find and reach Butterfly Gorge. Unfortunately we could not enjoy any rock holes. The water levels were already too low due to being end of Winter with no rain falls. So we skipped those destinations and concentrated on the Gorge walks. At the end of the day, being back in the caravan, we made over 30thousand steps that day. And wow, we felt every single of them. ;-)

Thanks for joining us in this episode and supporting us by watching, liking, subscribing, commenting ... or simply being here. ♥ We hope you like the scenery we present to you :D

Western Australia's Blow-vember had a rehearsal when we put Cape Peron on our weekend's daytrip planner recently 🤣.
But that didn't stop us from having a great day out. While I was attending an optometrist appointment to get a pair of new glasses, Simon patiently waited in the car with Dudley, looking for dog-friendly beaches and parks along the coastline south of Perth. And there are plenty! 🐕🏖 around. That should keep us busy for a while.

Cape Peron is stunning, and the mushroom rocks are super interesting rock formations on the limestone coast between Fremantle and Mandurah. Wow!

We look forward to many trips to explore the area whenever we have time.

CUTTA CUTTA CAVES near Katherine, NT --- >>> Wow! We did not expect this tour to be so interesting, and the caves being so beautiful ♥ What a great experience. If you visit Nitmiluk National Park in the Northern Territory, Australia, this tour is a must! We take you with us on a walk through the caves 15 m underground! No audio has been included in the video as the audio wasn't the best with the echo in the caves. However, the guided tour was amazing, super informative and the limestone formations are breath-taking.

Cutta Cutta is a Jawoyn name meaning many stars; it was taboo for Aboriginal people to enter the cave, which they believed was where the stars were kept during the day. (source: )

Formed millions of years ago, the Cutta Cutta Caves system is home to a variety of native wildlife and has a rich Indigenous culture and modern European history.

Located 27Km South of Katherine, Cutta Cutta Caves Nature Park covers 1499 hectares of natural limestone landscape. Home to five species of bats, including the rare Ghost and Horseshoe bats and around 170 species of birds, including the Hooded Parrot and the endangered Gouldian Finch, it’s a wildlife lover’s paradise. Head over to the Nitmiluk Tours website to book your tour. https://www.nitmiluktours.com.au/cultural-experiences/cultural-tours/cutta-cutta-caves-nature-park/

Keep in mind though, that the tour only operates from April to October and the caves are not accessible during wet season. You can still visit the national park around, subject to weather conditions, though.

We did it! We did the Great Central Road, crossing east to west, from Yulara NT to Laverton WA.
What a ride it was.
First, we were hunting the permits, then trying to stay ahead of the rain event, that was looming in the skies.

Lots of dust, corrugations, mud, slipping and sliding through wash outs from previous rain, enjoying absolutely remote free camps, running into camels, brumbies, .... and even saw Dingos.

I look forward to edit the episode for this trip. Although a bit disappointing as we don't have as much (drone) footage due to the weather overall. It still was a great trip.

Verdict: all in all these 1000 kms through the centre of Australia were in much better condition- and far less crowded - then the road from Hell's Gate QLD to Borroloola in the NT.

We have finally arrived in the Katherine NT area and found an authentic NT farm stay close to town: Rapids Bush Camp - Katherine NT . This place is owned and run by the lovely couple Markus and Alysia. We had a great time there, extending our 4 nights to a week, joined the weekend camp dinner and used this place as a base to start exploring the area.
This farm stay is for travellers with no children (probably due to the lack of entertainment for the little ones as well as the danger along the river), but it's dog-friendly and has so much space to park away from others. Yes, it's dusty, but that's the usual condition during Winter (dry season) in the Northern Territory.

Thanks for joining us in this episode. We hope you like our little 'behind the scenes' episode, with housekeeping duties and uneventful explorations, in a yet beautiful area along the Katherine River. ♥

Don't forget to join us next Sunday when we take you with us to explore the beautiful underground CUTTA CUTTA CAVES a few minutes south of Katherine.

Home is where we park it 🥰.

We will be stationary for a while, as we picked up some work. We found a wonderful little caravan park in the hills south of Perth that just ticks all the boxes for us. Quiet, pet friendly, lots of roam to walk the dog and take in the nature, close to a lot of points of interest. Best of all - long-term stays are welcome (hard to find these days in some areas).

This is, what we imagined when considering living on the road. 🥰😍🐕✔️

We look forward to some relaxing months (after work, haha) and getting on top of some admin tasks.

⭐️⭐️⭐️copied from the internet ⭐️⭐️⭐️

⚠️ To the people who own friendly or non reactive dogs, please listen ⚠️

We know you don't understand the struggle of owning a reactive dog but as reactive dog owners we are trying to educate you to help keep you and your dog safe along with our own.

If you see us walking our dogs and notice we cross the road to creat distance or we have stopped and are trying to keep our dog focused on us and not you and your dog.. Please just keep walking. Don't stop, don't walk closer to us, don't try to talk to us, don't say "it's ok my dogs friendly" or anything similar, we understand your dog is but ours is not.

Our reactive dogs still deserve to go for walks and enjoy sniffing and seeing the world. We are always on alert for triggers, we are always keeping our dogs in check, training and doing our best to help our dogs be more relaxed and less reactive.

It is physically, mentally and emotionally draining for us to take our dogs out in public, but we are doing our best...

So I beg you, PLEASE understand this, please help us and our dogs by being understanding and respectful.

Having a reactive dog can be a lonely experience that affects your entire life. Knowing there are people out there who understand and empathize makes it easier ❤️❤️

*** End of copy ***

Adding to this as a dog owner: We are on the road full-time for nearly three years now. In this three years our dog has been aggressively attacked by other dogs THREE TIMES.
Every time our dog was on leash, while the attacking dogs came from afar and out of nowhere straight to our dog, and straight onto his throat. 🥹. The third time it was that bad that we had to go to the emergency vet to get our boy checked - thankfully it was 'just' a 400$ bill and healed within a couple of weeks.

All the time we come across dog owners with small dogs who absolutely ignore the fact that dogs has to be kept on leash in public, unless there is a dedicated off-leash area. Upon approach most are very ignorant and think the laws don't apply to them. It's very sad to see.

If you love your dog, keep it safe by keeping it on the leash, especially when you see other dogs being walked on leash and get a warning from their owner. Dogs are animals. They are protective and territorial. They are NOT robots. They have their own minds, even the best trained dogs!

Food for thoughts: You certainly don't like every single person that crosses your way, you don't go and hug strangers - so why would you expect 100% acceptance from foreign dogs, dogs that don't belong to your 'pack'?

Thank you for keeping all the doggies safe out there, yours and others 🥰.

Feel free to share.

NO CHEMICALS - NO SPECIAL COATING - NO BIG DEAL

Washing off the dust, mud, and dirt on the .caravans from the last 5000 km is an easy job. You only need water and a microfibre mop, honestly. Don't overthink the task. Hook up the hose, give the caravan a shower, fill up the bucket to wash the mop in between, and enjoy the easiness of cleaning the surface. Polish with the microfibre drying cloth of your mop. Done!

We don't have any special, expensive coating on our caravan. We say, why putting an expensive ceramic coating onto a 'plastic' or gel-coated fibreglass surface? Think about the environment. You wash of what you put onto it.

Water, dust, and mud. Nothing that wasn't in the environment before 😇.

Swipe 👉 to see pics of the caravan before we started the cleaning. Sunday morning spent successfully 😅😇

We started our Northern Territory adventure with ticking three destinations off the bucket list within a few days in a row, just because they conveniently located to close to each other.
A must on our list was the Daly Waters Pub , followed by the . A free camp along the road to take in the peace of nature, and then we were off to the famous Bitter Springs Cabins and Camping to enjoy the hot springs for a few days.

The hot springs were absolutely delightful, once we figured out what the right time of the day would be to avoid the crowds. After all we were game enough to go there during school holidays, so ... what could go wrong? ;-)

We hope you like our episode. Thank you for supporting us by following, liking, commenting and/or subscribing. See you on YouTube ♥

Day 2 of trying to clean the car, washing and dusting off 10500 km of mud, dust, and insects, collected since we left the east coast 4 months ago. The guys who will do the car service tomorrow will hopefully appreciate the effort 🤣.

The caravan has to wait a bit longer. Also, the awning side is clean already, I could no longer stand the red dirt every time I touched the caravan when entering or leaving it. Funny looking van, though, 1 white side, three sides with outback icing.

In this episode we take our caravan on the road through hell! From Hell's Gate Roadhouse to Borroloola it is about 320 km of dusty, heavily corrugated gravel road, with some water crossings in between. It must be one of the worst roads you can consider travelling with a caravan or trailer.
So our biggest concern was: will the Sojourn stay dust-free as advertised by .caravans ? And the next question was: will we make it through without any issues, without any damage, without a flat tyre?
Let's say: We will NOT chose this road again if we don't have to! That was just a bit too much dust and too many vehicles on the road that must have been on a race to ... don't know.
Less than 10% of the drivers bothered to use their UHF radios to communicate if it is safe to overtake, given that we - like everyone else - produced quite an amount of dust behind. Not, that those vehicles wouldn't have had a radio. They had all the gear ... and you know how the sentence ends. We had some close calls and it makes you wonder, how some drivers survive on those roads.

However: we discovered some beautiful campsites here, and the landscape was stunning in a lot of places. But we were also glad when we were back on the black top after 4 days of travelling.

Thanks for watching this weeks episode. ♥
