Haven't updated this page in forever...

Took a bit of a break from the music stuff these past few months and made a buncha silly experimental vids (see IG and TikTok) but been getting back to it. Though I should mention, I re-edited the "Early Glooms" MV that dropped last Nov, and re-released it into the wild last month. Imo it’s definitely lot better and trippier too. Really feel like it fully captures the essence and atmosphere of what I had envisioned thematically for the song. If you haven't seen it, check it out! I hope you dig it!

Thank you to every single person who checked out my DJ sets these past few years, whether for a gig IRL, via live stream, or simply listening to my mixes online. It’s been real and it’s been fun, but the time has come yet again (w/o a single shred of doubt or hesitation) to step away from it all indefinitely, and redirect my focus back to producing original works. The official video for “Early Glooms” is out today! And it's the first ASOMNiiA music video too!

Shot in cinematic mode on an iPhone 13 Pro Max, and edited Videoleap by Lightricks. It was a conscious decision for the MV to be in portrait mode, as I felt it'd be a more intimate experience for viewers if they were to watch it on their smartphones or tablets. As for the song, “Early Glooms” is an original track from my first album “After the Rapture” released this past August 2021.

Although the song is instrumental, it definitely has a story to tell. As the title may suggest, it’s about the darkness, doubt, and paranoia of the unknown that often troubles our souls in the after hours. However, in order to find clarity and/or solace, we must push forward even if that means having to face our fears and whatever delusions our minds may throw at us.

Tbh I’m really happy knowing this video captures the essence of all that esp when the imagery gets pretty trippy in the latter half. Hope you enjoy the music and the visuals! 🥷✨

Tbh I feel I’ve really outdone myself this time and couldn’t be happier with the result, so I’m incredibly stoked to share this recorded mix today (and stream a live set for it next Thurs night, Oct 28 at twitch.tv/asomniiatv) 🙌🔥🙌 Even tho AFTER DAWN is kind of like a “Best of AFTER DARK” set as it contains various mixes from those seven volumes released this past spring, many of the old original mashups were revisited and renewed, a lotta new tracks were added, and my live use of DJ effects are included this time. There’s more I’d like to share about these AAD sets (AFTER DARK ➡️ AFTER DAWN) and what’s next but will save that for a diff post for another day as I’d much prefer you listen to the music rather than reading this 😉👍 Tho I should mention that unlike the AFTER DARK series, no plans for additional AFTER DAWN mixes. But AAD will live on under diff names and logo colors (DARK = yellow / DAWN = red) ✨

AFTER DAWN is my longest recorded DJ mix so far, clocking in at 2 hours 14 min. If you need some jams to work to, study to, drive to, workout to, dance to, chill to, and really whatever to, I'm sure it'll provide some good vibes for your soul 😎🤘🔥

Production on my first album is back in full swing and just felt like sharing a teaser vid, featuring new track, “Early Glooms,” and the album release date: August 13, 2021. Tho still too early to share finer details about it, the album is titled “After the Rapture” and contains 8 tracks. ATR is a concept album as well for it follows a central narrative from beginning to end. And just to be clear, “the Rapture” doesn’t explicitly refer to either the biblical end-times event or the feeling of intense joy, as it can go either way. It’s open for interpretation but I’ll let you decide for yourself when the album drop this August ✨

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to check out my ASOMNiiA AFTER DARK (AAD) DJ mix recordings I’ve been dropping every Mon on SoundCloud for the past several weeks 😎🙏❤️✨ Although only seven mixes were planned for this release schedule, there will be a few more volumes in the near future (coupled with live performances of the sets, either IRL or on Twitch). Tbh my vision for this series as a whole was planned out some time ago; tho def not as elaborate as Kevin Feige did for the Marvel movies 😅

Though there’s a personal reason that compelled me to undertake this passion project that I’m unable to divulge atm, it’s been a lotta fun and a delightful experience building all these sets in the past couple years and being able to share them with you all 🙌 And bc it was quite the journey, such is the reason why these seven mixes followed the theme of “being on the road” traveling to various places at diff times and weather conditions, made evident through the cover art (from photos I’ve taken over the years). This “road trip” theme is also reflected in the mixes themselves, as the first track from AAD: VOL. I is “WDPK 83.7 FM” by Daft Punk, and the final track from AAD: VOL. VII is “Late Night” by ODESZA. Fwiw, I also intentionally chose those two tracks as Daft Punk were my intro to electronic music, way back in my childhood, and ODESZA was the inspirational catalyst for me back in 2018 that drove me to finally produce my own beats, as well as learn how to DJ.

New year, new start. Sort of. Decided to remove all four singles released last year from all major streaming platforms except for SoundCloud and Bandcamp. Primary reason being, “Before the Madness” which dropped last July, is the definitive version of all four singles and thus felt the singles were more like demos. But once again, if you’d like to continue listening to them, they will remain available on the two aforementioned sites. As always, thank you so much for all your love and support, as well as for giving my songs a chance. Stoked to share a ton of new music with you all in 2021, incl my upcoming EP “After the Rapture” this spring which is a spiritual follow-up to “Before the Madness.” Stay tuned! ✨

I am legit terrible at updating FB... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That aside, I released four singles in 2020 (“Through the Void,” “Victorious Vista,” “Late Blooms,” “Lost Angeles”). Then mashed up the tracks, gave them extended mixes, and released them as “Through the Blooms” and “Lost Vista” (under the double A-side single title, “Before the Madness”). And this past Monday, decided to complete the “trilogy” by giving them the VIP [variation in production] remix treatment. “Before the Madness (VIP Remixes)” is out rn streaming exclusively on SoundCloud. As to why I’m not releasing them yet on other platforms as usual (i.e. Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp, etc), tbh just felt like switching it up a bit and sharing some VIP [very important “platform”] love with the SoundCloud community for a change. Thank you everyone for all the love, time, and support, as well as giving my music a chance, esp when idk what genre my own songs would fall under other than being electronic 😅 Labels aside, I’m just so very thankful knowing that the vibes from these songs resonated with so many of you (and on a much larger, more diverse scale too than my indie rock stuff in the years prior to ASOMNiiA). Before producing electronic music and DJing here and there as ASOMNiiA, I was indie rock solo artist SUNKEN VESSELS (circa 2014 to 2019). Unfortunately, there isn’t a whole lotta video footage from shows I played around the Los Angeles area during those years but grateful for the memories. Looking forward to performing live shows again once this pandemic ends and things return to “normal" (though for now, thank goodness for Twitch and being able to live stream there). Last Fri night I did my first live stream on Twitch, performing a live set of my original tracks (both released and unreleased), followed by a DJ set. Despite the initial stream lag and audio issues, along with the lack of CPU power in my laptop to efficiently run Ableton with Streamlabs OBS over an unstable WiFi connection, the stream was a lotta fun and even more stoked that everyone who tuned in had a great time too! 😊🙌🔥 Bc this was my first stream on Twitch, and originally wasn’t planning on streaming often, had to go all out with the setup for this show. So much gratitude to my friends back home in SD, for letting me using their Vegas-esque backyard. AWAKENiiNG is also a concept playlist divided into 4 distinct sections, each representing a different state of mind: Creative, Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual. Each has 11 tracks with its own intro and outro song, and overall is a collection of songs that have personally inspired, moved, and uplifted me.
