The status and role of women in society are important issues for which Islam has provided all related rules, rights and guidance. In fact, in many ways, Islam is the only religion to do so. Not only in the theory, Islam practically uplifted women status nearly 1400 years ago and for the first time in human history she felt her true being.

When the Holy Quran mentions someone or something, it carries great importance. Given this, we can imagine how important the role, status, and duties of women are that a chapter’s name in the Holy Quran is Surah al Nisa. The general idea among non-Muslims and even among some modern Muslim is that in Islam women are treated as second class citizens. This idea is wrong, and it is based on misconceptions and, to some extent, ignorance. Rather Islam gives respectful status to women. In Islam, a female whether a newborn or a widow, Is not in any way a disgrace either to an individual Muslim man or to Muslim society at large.

ZAKATUL FITR IN A GLANCE

Zakat al-Fitr is charity given to the poor at the end of the fasting in the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Zakkatul Fitr is a duty which is wajib (required) of every Muslim, whether male or female, minor or adult as long as he/she has the means to do so.

Zakat-ul-Fitr is incumbent on every free Muslim who possesses one Sa` of dates or barley which is not needed as basic food for himself or his family for the duration of one day and night.

Every free Muslim must pay Zakat-ul-Fitr for himself, his wife, children, and servants. This is the opinion of Imam Malik, Al-Shafi`i, and Ahmad. Imam Abu Hanifah, however, said that it is only obligatory for one who possesses a nisab (a minimum amount of property) after fulfilling the costs of his house, servant, horse, and weapon.

Al-Khattabi explained that Zakat-ul-Fitr was obligatory for all Muslims, not only those who possess the nisab stating that this is the view of the majority of scholars.

He said,
“In essence, the rationale behind it was stated to be the purification of one who fasts from any indecent act or speech. And since every Muslim needs this, it is therefore obligatory upon every fasting Muslim, whether rich or poor, who possesses one Sa` in excess of his main staple food for the duration of one day and night. This is because so long as the essential rationale is shared by all Muslims, then they also share the same obligation.

WHO ARE THE RECIPIENT OF ZAKATUL FITRI

According to Islamic tradition (Sunnah), Ibn 'Umar (RA) said the Prophet ﷺ made Zakat al-Fitr compulsory on every slave, freeman, male, female, young and old among the Muslims; one Saa` of dried dates or one Saa` of barley. [Sahih Bukhari)

Abu Sa'eed al-Khudree (RA) said:

On behalf of our young and old, free men and slaves, we used to take out during Allaah's Messenger's (upon whom be God's peace and blessings) lifetime one Sa` of grain, cheese or raisins". [Sahih Muslim)

The most blessed part of Ramadan is approaching; the showers of mercy and blessings are heaped on the believers during the last ten nights of Ramadan.

It is time to put more effort and be more dedicated. It is a golden chance for those who were careless in the past days of Ramadan to make up and get a great share of the Ramadan’s reward. And it is a long awaited season for the devoted to get closer to Allah and to ascend in higher ranks of dedication.

Following is a collection of the Prophet’s ahadith that shed light on the privileges of these nights and how the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spent them:
Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that one year, when the month of Ramadan started, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
This month (of Ramadan) has begun and there is a night in it better than one thousand month. (So,) any one deprived of its (blessings) is actually deprived of all goodness. Indeed, He is truly deprived who is kept away from its good. (Ibn Majah and authenticated by Al-Albani).
A’ishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported:

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Seek Lailat Al-Qadr (Night of Decree) in the odd nights out of the last ten nights of Ramadan.” (Al-Bukhari).

The last ten nights of Ramadan begin from the night before the twenty first day, whether the month is thirty days or is twenty-nine days.

THE 17TH OF RAMADAN MARKS THE DATE OF THE BATTLE OF BADR , IT WAS THE FIRST TIME ALLAH ALLOWED THE MUSLIMS TO DEFEND THEMSELVES AGAINST THE PERSECUTORS OF MAKKAH.AFTER 13 YEARS OF PERSECUTION FROM THE QURAISH, THE PROPHET {S.A.W} AND THE MUSLIMS MIGRATED FROM MAKKAH TO MADINAH ..IN THIS BATTLE THE TOTAL NUMBER OF MUSLIMS WERE 313 AGAINST AN ARMY OF 1000 QURAYSH .. WITH THE HELP OF ALMIGHTY , THE MUSLIMS WON THE BATTLE AGAINST THE LARGE NUMBER OF ARMY , ONLY 14 MUSLIMS WERE MARTYRED IN THIS BATTLE .

¤ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَكَرَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَقَالَ فِيهِ سَاعَةٌ لَا يُوَافِقُهَا عَبْدٌ مُسْلِمٌ وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي يَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى شَيْئًا إِلَّا أَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ يُقَلِّلُهَا

¤ Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned the day of Friday and he said, “In it is an hour in which no Muslim stands to pray and ask Allah for something but that he will be given it,” and he indicated with his hand that the time is very short

__Some scholars mention that the hour of answering du`aa’ on Friday start from `Asr and lasts until the sun sets.

THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawmul Jumuat. 2nd day of Ramadhan, 1444AH (Friday 24th March 2023). *_What’s the difference between Maghfirah (مغفرة ) and 'Afuw (عفو )?_* BismilLah.

AlhamdulilLah for granting us this blessed day in this blessed month.
*_Maghfirah_*: is for ALLAH to forgive you for the sin, but the sin will still be registered on your book of deeds. Maghfirah is ALLAH’s forgiveness for your sin, but on Judgment Day, it will be written on your record, ALLAH will ask you about it, but HE won’t punish you because of it. This is for ALLAH to remind us that HE records whatever we do, so we must be careful.

*_Afuw_*: is for ALLAH to forgive you for the sin and delete it from your book of deeds as if it did not happen. ‘Afuw is ALLAH’s pardon for your sin. It will be completely erased from your record, and ALLAH won’t ask you about it on Judgement Day.

This is why our Prophet (salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said that this is the best Dua to make when seeking Laylatul Qadr.
*"Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul 'afwa fa'afu 'annee"*
(Ahmad, Ibn Majah, and Tirmidhi)
*O ALLAH, You are The One Who pardons greatly, and You love to pardon, so pardon me.)"*

So make sure you recite this dua all the time and as much as you can. Make it one of your daily athkaar.
Imagine that you are standing on the day of judgment being held accountable for your deeds, and you're not guaranteed your entry to Jannah.
Suddenly, you find that you have mountains of Hasanat (rewards) in your record. Do you know from where these mountains of rewards come from?

Because in the Dunya, you kept saying "SubhanAllah wa bihamdihi SubhanAllah al ‘Adhim”. Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam said: Two words are light on the tongue, weigh heavily in the balance, they are loved by Al Rahman, (The Most Merciful. One):*
