In Cumilla, a lover of nature constructs the nation's first environmental school.
Adampur village is reached by traveling directly north on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway from Daudkandi's Putia.
A suggestion of something special can be seen in the paved road that winds along the settlement, which is flanked by floodplains.
And before one has a chance to take in the picturesque rural scene in its entirety, they are met by a sign that is posted on a lowly one-story building.
The sign says, "Bangladesh Poribesh School."
Farmers, conservationists, environmentalists, students, and people from all walks of life come together at Bangladesh's sole environmental school to explore how to make Bangladesh a greener, more sustainable nation.
The three-roomed school was established in 2021 and was the idea of agriculturalist and environmentalist Matin Saikat. Matin Saikat said,
"I just started the
initiative. Now thousands of environmental
activists are working.
Explaining the role of the school, he said,
"This is an exception to what a school
usually means.
There are no regular
students or teachers here. There is no salary
or examination system. Many do not have
the opportunity to acquire formal education
in their lifetime and it is not possible for
everyone to acquire higher education. But
everyone is socially literate. That education
is put to use in this school. And it got a huge
response. School, college, madrasa teachers
and environmentalists sit in this school and
give various tips on the environment to
locals and students. "He worked for thirty years, and now the government has dug up the Kaladumur River again. He also made an effort to start nurseries and run programs for planting trees.
He raised awareness among the public about the need for wildlife reserves.
By offering irrigation amenities to three villages—Adampur, Putia, and Singula—for little Tk 200, he has set an example.
His efforts were not in vain. In honor of his efforts, Matin Saikat was awarded the National Environment Medal once and the Bangabandhu National Agriculture Medal twice.

Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, made a suggestion that the World Cup might be played every three years at the FIFA Congress in Doha in 2022. The World Cup is typically held every four years. Infantino retracted plans to host the World Cup every two years at the 211-member association's assembly last week, saying that FIFA had no input into the original plans.
The Sun reports that the FIFA president wants a new 36-month tournament cycle every three years, along with a World Cup News Hub. Infantino's ideas call for a larger, 24 team Club World Cup. According to Infantino's proposals, the first summer would include an expanded 24 team Club World Cup, while the second summer would be set aside for continental tournaments like the Euros and Copa America. A third summer would be dedicated to the World Cup, which would feature 48 teams starting in 2026. The Daily Star reported that FIFA president Infantino said, "It's important to act... whether the World Cup is held every two or three years."

16/12/2022

In the 1948 battle to establish the state of Israel, which Palestinians refer to as the Nakba, or disaster, hundreds of thousands of people were driven from their homes. The Netflix original film “Farha” depicts the story of one such tragedy. When their peaceful settlement is attacked by soldiers of the recently formed Israeli Defense Forces, a 14-year-old Palestinian girl who has hopes of defying the customary gender standards of her community to attend school in a nearby city is driven into hiding by her father. She observes the ex*****on of a Palestinian family, including two young children, via a small crack in the wall while hiding in a locked pantry and waiting for her father to return.

The Jordanian film Farha, which details the ethnic cleansing and genocide of the Palestinians in 1948 (during the Palestinian Nakba), has sparked violent Israeli reactions on the international film and television streaming service Netflix. This was done to bring attention to the reality of what happened 74 years ago.
The tale of Farha, which is portrayed from the perspective of a little girl who is a living witness to the crimes of the Israeli Zionists, may be related to by every Palestinian who was a member of the Nakba generation. Although the tragedy is still ongoing and its characteristics are still evident because Palestinian refugees are still living in exile, the film represents every Palestinian and revives Palestine in the minds of the world. Because it demonstrates that the Israeli regime, as it currently exists, is nothing more than a settler colonial project based on the ethnic cleansing of the indigenous population, the historical film has exposed the fear that lies at the core of every Israeli and has shown how dangerous the Zionist movement finds its narrative to be.“Farha," the first film of director Darin Sallam, is also Jordan's submission for the 2023 Academy Awards. According to Sallam, the movie is based on the genuine account of a friend of her mother's who recounted her experience as a little girl during the Nakba while living as a refugee in Syria years later. Sallam describes the movie as a tool for processing a difficult memory from that period. "I don't hesitate to speak the truth. Sallam stated in an interview last winter following the film's premiere at the Red Sea International Film Festival, "We need to do this because films survive, and we die. This is the reason I decided to make the movie. Not because I'm politically correct, but rather because I support.

France offers free condoms for people aged 18 to 25.
A “little revolution in birth control”?

This is what French President Emmanuel Macron had to say about his nation’s decision to offer free condoms to people between the ages of 18 and 25.
To reduce the spread of s*xually transmitted illnesses, pharmacists will start offering free contraception to young people in January (STIs).

France saw a 30% nationwide increase in STI rates between 2020 and 2021.
“Let's do it,” Macron said in a selfie video that he shot from the sidelines of a summit in Spain. He later tweeted: “A lot of minors also have s*x ... they need to protect themselves too.”

Police confiscated 200 kg of cannabis, which rats ate.
“Police are not feared by them. It’s challenging to defend the drug against them.”
Nearly 200 kg (440 lb) of cannabis that had been confiscated from dealers and stored in police stations in India was allegedly destroyed by rats, according to the authorities.
In cases of drug trafficking, a court in Uttar Pradesh had requested that the police turn over the stash as evidence, but they had been unsuccessful.
Rodents have destroyed ma*****na three times now.
The police had previously claimed that “part” 386 kg of the cannabis had been “eaten up by the rodents.”

In what some experts consider to be the oldest case of frozen embryos giving rise to a live birth, an Oregon couple welcomed twins from embryos that were frozen 30 years prior.

Philip and Rachel Ridgeway welcomed twins Lydia and Timothy on October 31 from embryos that were frozen on April 22, 1992.
This is a huge blessing, said Rachel Ridgeway to TODAY.
Donating an embryo is taking it from one person and giving it to another. Sometimes, a procedure known as "embryo freezing" or "cryopreservation" is utilized to preserve and use the embryos. The Cleveland Clinic reports that, as shown in 2016 national data, the live birth rate per transfer for frozen embryos is 49%.
The Ridgeways, who are parents to four additional kids, aged 8, 6, 3, and 1, may have broken a record.
With the assistance of a 27-year-old donated embryo, Tennessee couple Tina and Ben Gibson welcomed their daughter Molly in 2020.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar will be the second time that Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology will be used, following its debut in Russia in 2018.

For the past five years, VAR has been utilized at the highest levels of football, including important leagues and big European events like the Champions League and Europa League.

In Qatar, VAR and semi-automated offside technology will be used, according to FIFA. These tools are intended to assist both video match officials and on-field officials in making quicker, more precise decisions on offside.
