As moms we get a lot of feedback and critiques.
“You should do this.”
“You should try this.”
“You’re not….”
“That’s a bad idea.”
When receiving these ideas from people we need to consider WHO is saying it and ask ourselves:
Do any of their relationships look like relationships I’d like to have ?
Do they respond to people and situations the way I’d personally like to?
Have they put these critiques and advice to the test in their life?
If so, does the outcome reflect anything I’d personally want in my life?

When we are doing our absolute best, it can be hard to hear advice and input, but it is necessary. That doesn’t mean we have to ACCEPT everything that is spoken to us. Put it through a filter and consider the source.

In case no one has told you lately, and even if they did, you’re doing a good job, mom!

On my flight back from Cancun yesterday a mom sat next to her just turned two year old while he screamed and screamed. She remained calm and loving toward her child, but I could tell from her body language (and my own past experiences) how difficult it was for her navigating the moment. Managing her child’s feelings and her feelings. Her child finally calmed down, our flight landed, and I ran into her at the bathroom. My husband actually stopped her to ask about their stroller and so I took the opportunity to let her know that I saw her. That I know it was sooo tough to walk through that and that she did such an amazing job holding it down. With tears in her eyes, and mine 😭 She said thank you so much. That really means a lot. Make sure you tell a mom good job when you see her doing hard things.

Don’t look to what you could have done. Focus on what you can do right now.
Missed time with our kiddos, wishing for more alone time, losing your temper on family, missing a deadline, letting a goal wither away.

We all wish we could change things of yesterday, but bottom line, we can’t. What can we do? Our absolute best TODAY so that tomorrow starts to look like the life we want.

The last thing a mom needs is to be shamed. The first thing she needs is support.
Breastfed or formula fed: it’s a personal choice (and sometimes a forced choice.) The only thing moms need to hear is “how can I help?”

How do we become the queens of getting stuff done and saying no to what doesn’t help us get there? When you set goals, keep these questions tucked away to ask yourself so you stay on track!
Being a mom means we are available to others, BUT we also need to keep our goals and dreams in mind. When we do anything not related to our goals, we need to walk away from that thing or task feeling energized NOT drained.
Always. When you do THAT, you’re doing a good job, mom!

Yesterday, someone asked me how old my new baby is and I said, “five weeks.” Most people respond with, “omg! That baby is *fill in the blank about Joah being brand new” but this time, with a rub on the shoulder, the person responded with, “omg! You JUST gave birth!”
I felt seen.
Women really be out here JUST having whole humans and still working, still showing up as a friend, a wife, a daughter, a mother to their other kids… you name it.
Shout out to us for showing up. Period. That’s it.
Good job, mom! 🗣💪🏻

Mom guilt is ridiculous, can I get an amen? But, that doesn’t mean it’s not real and doesn’t mean we don’t feel it deep in our bones.
So how do we get past it?
1. Accept that we deserve to give ourselves as much as we give our kids.
2. Realize that just bc we are feeling it, doesn’t mean what we are feeling is a fact.
3. Reflect. What’s true and what lies are we telling ourselves?
4. Set fire to the lies and hold on for dear life to the truth!

Ya girl had her postpartum follow up appointment! I can’t believe it’s been ONE MONTH already since I gave birth. The strength and resilience I’ve seen in myself makes me proud, but it sometimes has me putting unnecessary pressure on myself to always be strong and always be resilient. Do you ever feel that way?

It’s important for us to make space for ourselves to be soft and vulnerable. I mean, big picture: one month postpartum is still SO NEW!

Do you have something new you’re going through? There are sooo many changes physically, emotionally, mentally, hormonally. You name it.

So, here’s your reminder as you’re killin the game, being strong, pushing through. Give yourself some space to just BE.
Be gentle with yourself.
Be vulnerable.
Be soft.
Be flexible.
Be self-aware.
Be okay with not being okay some days and being great others.
Be okay with how your mind and body are changing and healing.
Be okay with things being about you bc hello: LIFE CHANGE.

I didn’t choose this mom life, this mom life chose me…. Just kidding. I chose this life and I try to remember that every time I feel like I’m about to lose it.
I chose to be a mom and bc I chose to be a mom I owe it to my kids to give them the healthiest, most loving and caring mother a person could ever ask for. (I do fall short, unfortunately.)

Encouraging you today to remember why you became a momma, and that our kids don’t need perfection, they just need the best you.
What are you doing so you can give your kids the best you there is? Comment below! There’s no wrong answer. ❤️

It’s only taken three times, but this time around I’m a more confident mom. Im not nervous to breastfeed in public, I’m not nervous for my belly rolls to hang out while the b**b is out, too. My body just made, carried and birthed a child. A crying baby doesn’t send me into a frenzy and waking through the night to take care of JQ feels like sweet moments that I slowly breathe in and hold deep in my heart.

I say all this to encourage you to second guess and critique yourself less. You’re doing a good job, mom! Own it, momma!

Your story doesn’t end here. It’s constantly just beginning bc everyday is a NEW day. One foot in front of the other. One day at a time.

Today is the day you start choosing yourself.
Today is the day you prioritize better.
Today is the day you accept now instead of what was.
Today is the beginning of the end of generational trauma.
Today is when you accept that you’re a bad a** momma!
Today is when you take your power back and build the life, relationships, family and/or career you want and deserve to have.

Reflection: What do you want? What do you think is stopping you? Put down the what if’s that are blocking you from stepping into the fullness of what and who you’ve been created to be.

Two week postpartum photo dump 📷
The last two weeks have been a beautiful fog of emotions. Joy, sadness, smiles, tears, laughter. All of the above.
Every postpartum season looks different than the other.

Things I’m doing to keep my emotions and mental healthy:
• Communicating my needs and feelings to my village
• Taking it day by day, and even minute by minute
• Knowing that this doesn’t last forever so I should soak it all up
And THE biggest:
• Going with the flow
As a new mom, I’ve always had expectations of what the new baby stage should look like which put unnecessary pressure on myself, my new babies and the people around me. This time: the baby is calling the shots and Ive decided I’m just here to nurture and love… whatever that looks like for my brand new baby. ❤️

This new mom thing (for the 3rd time) is a whole… something. When I’m not deliriously tired I’ll come up with a word for it 🫠🙃

All that to say, I skipped social yesterday to fully decompress, but wanted to hop on today and wish all my bomb mommas a happy Mother’s Day!!! You’re doing a good job, mom! and if you think no one sees just how good you’re doing, then think again.

Today was my original due date! 🗓
Can I tell y’all something? 👀
See, Joah had his very own plans and came early all on his own. Now, I’m sooo happy he is here, and also, at the same time…. I miss being pregnant with him. Have you ever felt this way?
I can’t quite put into words as to why bc honestly, holding him and staring at him fill my heart to overflow status. But, I guess I’m a sucker for all the stages of this mom life thing, and nurturing my baby while he used my body as a safe place to grow just brings allll the feels 🥺❤️🫶🏻

Hours through the night with no sleep are tough. Tough on our mental, physical and emotional. That’s why one of the things I do every morning is my hair.
I know, I know. Hear me out, though ✋🏻

It’s a routine I’ve created and stick to. Something easy for me to control, (at a time when things feel really out of control 😅), and it feels good to know I LOOK put together even if my brain is running to catch up with my body 🫠🥲

What are some small things you did daily to help your mental health through postpartum? You already know, drop it 👇🏻

Introducing JQ to the world 🌎

I am so in love! This birthing story is so different from my other two. Kind of like our kids, no birth or child is quite the same. Am I right? Can’t wait to share all the deets! 🫖

My first after delivery meal was a sub with lunch meat. I’ve been waiting and waiting for it and it was definitely worth the wait.

Next up on my list of things to do: a starbies without the worry of caffeine content. Okurrrr!

Im sleeping- kind of.. and my ni***es hurt 🥲 Drop some breast feeding ni**le care in the comments!

Nesting is….. going. 🫠 38 weeks prego and all I want to do is sleep. As much as the organizer in me wants to unpack all these target boxes from our registry and set up for little man, I’m giving my body (and baby) what they’re asking for ❤️

Balancing time with my littles and time alone is superrrrr challenging.
When can I recharge?
Am I giving them the time they need (and deserve?)
How do I do both and not fall short with one or the other?

Time with the kids doesn’t have to be some grand gesture. It can consist of 15-20 minutes each day (or every other day) of one on one time where the focus is on our kids. Talking, playing, a meal together, story time, a movie or show together, etc.

My secret to recharging? Doing it before I FEEL like I need a recharge. Now this can take some time to gauge. Pay attention to when you’re about to lose all patience, when you’re tired, what sends you over the edge (is it legit or something that’s really not a big deal?) Go from there. Schedule your me time before you need it!

Personally, I need some alone time everyday. I need an activity alone to recharge and be my healthy self at least once a week.

Finding the balance can be tough, but try it out. Give both as many chances needed until you find the perfect combo for YOU.
You got this, momma! You’re doing a good job, mom!
