EPISODE 13: ‘Maggot Nick Cody gets hosed down by his mum.’

Nick Cody is a famous radio and television presenter, an internationally recognised comedian, a father of two boys and a failed office temp. We thought Nick was born successful considering how impressive his accolades are at such a young age. However, we were wrong, and it was beautiful for us to learn that once he got so munted at work, his dad had to pick him up leading to him spewing out of the car window and his mum had to hose him down. Poetry.

EPISODE 12: ‘Bev Killick picks a fight with UFC’s Volk.’

Bev is one of the most beloved comedians in the country, but even more than that, she is the loosest. She has a stage presence that demands everyone’s attention, and a very disobedient bladder.

We loved learning about Bev’s upbringing, her journey into comedy as a single mum, as well as the many jobs she has had, including bullying UFC champion Alexander Volkanovski, and telling her manager to “fu** off”.

You won’t find a laugh louder than this, and we dare you not to love this episode of Work Hates with Bev Killick.

EPISODE 11 IS UP: ‘Damien Power was broken by break dancing’.

Damo is an impressive man - he has been nominated three times for the Most Outstanding Show at MICF, and he is widely known as one of the best comedians in the country.

However, Damo hasn’t always been kicking goals. He was the second (or was it third?) best break dancer in his family and he was often mocked for breakdancing on the revolting dance floor in the Toowoomba nightclub. Whether this built his resilience, or chipped away at his psyche is hard to know.

From working in a tent shop, to an IT company, Damo’s employment history is rich, and really, really funny.

When Bretty moved into a new place a month ago, he realised his doorbell didn’t work so he put a sign on it. He only noticed today that he spent a word wrong.

EPISODE 10 is UP! ‘Lizzy Hoo cleans spew for cash.’

There aren’t many awards comedian Lizzy Hoo hasn’t won, or at least been nominated for. And in his episode of Work Hates, we learn there aren’t many jobs she has turned down. From being the spew cleaner at Brisbane’s infamous pub, The Caxton, to mowing huge fields of grass in Japan in the blistering heat.

Lizzy is a hard worker, and she does it all with an infectious smile, which makes her even more perfect than we already thought she was. Have a listen to this superstar, and we dare you to try and not love her. Enjoy this episode of Work Hates!

EPISODE 9 IS UP!

This week on Work Hates, we changed it up a bit, and instead of a lowly comedian (WE CAN SAY THAT, YOU CAN’T), we are joined by a human rights lawyer and gigantic legend, Claire Marshall. Claire is Bron’s high school friend, and she has trumped Bron in every aspect of life, except when it comes to volume of kids.

Before Claire was a high flying boss lady saving the world, she was a nanny to a filthy rich family that had a house filled with dead animals.

If it sounds gross, that’s because it is a bit. But it’s great, because Claire is great.

Enjoy this episode of Work Hates, and if you don’t, Claire will sue you (we made that up, we don’t think she’s that kind of lawyer).

EPISODE 8 IS UP! This week on Work Hates, we’re joined by one of Australia’s most promising young comedians Lewis Garnham. The episode starts with Bretty listing Lewis’ accolades, including having a “hot girlfriend”, which was a bit on the nose for Bron.

Lewis handled this hiccup the same was he handled being fired by his supermarket job: calmly. He’s had a long list of jobs including a disability support worker a teacher’s aide and a stoner pizza boy.

Lewis is a true delight, and we loved loved loved recording this one. Enjoy this episode of Work Hates.

EPISODE 7 is up! This week we are joined by one of New Zealand’s fasting rising stars, and one of Australia’s favourite comedians, Ray O’Leary. Ray hasn’t always been a comedian, he used to work in corrections, he’s had one of the most pointless jobs in the world, and he even tried his hand as a wizard or philosopher or something like that. Brett had very little in common with Ray, so he shared a story about his pop and a whale. It’s a great episode. Enjoy this week of Work Hates!

EPISODE 6 IS UP! This week we’re joined by Billy Stiles who is one of the funniest and underrated comedians on the scene. We were really excited to have him on the podcast, in fact, he was one of the first names we mentioned when coming up with the concept. We love his comedy, but we also knew he would have a rich tapestry of crook work stories, and we were not disappointed.

Billy was a ball boy for an esteemed tennis player, and yes, he stuffed it up. He has been a courier and a truck driver, and has left more jobs in a blaze of glory than even Bretty. This is a great episode. Please enjoy!

EPISODE 5 IS UP, and it’s GOOOOOD!

TV personality and brilliant comedian Mike Goldstein joins us on to give us some insight into why he is the way he is.

A bartender turned lawyer turned comedian, his moral compass may be weak, but his skill set is strong.

Mike is one of the nicest blokes you’ll ever meet, unless you’re the parents of a bride, and then he may be the worst bloke you’ve ever met.

We love Mike, and we loved this ep! Enjoy legends!
