I'm not a part of the LGBTQ+ or the neurodivergent community but I have friends and family who are (we all do). And I'm a proud ally. As enters its final week, I have some thoughts. My youngest autistic son has the purest of hearts. He has a sister married to a man. He has a sister married to a woman. He has BFFs of all races, ethnicities, and genders. Never, not even once, have any of these differences remotely entered his radar. They are all just people he loves. And that's all that matters. I sure wish the rest of the world would think a little more like my autistic son. What a wonderful world it would be. That and dogs. Happy Pride!

Pride month starts Saturday. And while I'm not personally a part of the + community I'm a dedicated ally. I'm a parent of a daughter who is and friend to many. I've witnessed firsthand the mental health struggles many in the community wrestle with. It shouldn't be. Being q***r or straight shouldn't be a "thing." People should be known for their attributes—kind, good friend, honest, hard-working, empathetic, humanitarian, loyal, etc. That's what I look for in a good human. That's it. Good human. If you identify as someone who doesn't celebrate please unfriend me. Because I'm an ally to those amazing humans and always will be.

October of 2022—Brent Nielsen and I were having lunch Finn's Dockside - Apollo Beach when I got an email that changed my life. Wild Ink Publishing LLC offered me a publishing deal! Years of blood, sweat, and tears and my personally inspired young adult novel finally had found a home.
Finn's Dockside - Apollo Beach has been beyond supportive. They are letting me set up shop to sign books, chat between entertainment sets, and Harold even agreed to make GUMBO that day (which is a HUGE part of my main character's story).
WORTH IT is an emotionally packed story of a homeless, pregnant teen living in poverty in an abusive relationship. It's a story of how a community has the power to uplift a girl who needs it. And what it takes to become your own hero.

WORTH IT BOOK LAUNCH! Mark your calendars! Friday, May 24th, 2024 is my book launch at Finn's Dockside - Apollo Beach. I'll be there all day signing books and the official launch will be sometime around 4:30pm (Happy Hour anyone?). I just confirmed they are going to make GUMBO for launch day! Gumbo is a huge part of my main character's life (as well as my own). So I'm beyond honored to share a bowl with anyone who attends! There will also be some other surprises and giveaways.
