Small businesses should treat their GMB like a social media page.

➡ Posting not only gives additional information to potential customers, it tells Google you're an active business so it will put you in front of more customers.

GMB is short for "google my business" and it's the results that show up on a map at the top of google search results. Local businesses want to be in the first three listings!

There are lots of signals Google looks at when deciding what GMBs to display in the top three.

Reviews, location, and strength of the business' website are all commonly known factors. But a seriously under-utilized resource is the "posts" function on all GMB dashboards.

Google introduced posts as a way to display more information on candidates in the 2016 presidential election. By June 2017, all businesses were able to post. Now in 2021, posts are here to stay.

➡ A good post could be about current specials, business updates, details about products, holiday celebrations, and pictures of happy customers. Basically, post to your GMB like you would post to your page.

Posts only last 7 days. So it's important to post often!
