One thing I love about homeschooling is the ability to travel with my family. In the past year we have been to Mexico, Haiti, and the Bahama's. And we spent all kinds of time in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. I have decided to help other families like ours and become a travel advisor/agent. I'm taking alot of courses right now to be able to plan travel (I can plan Disney, Universal, some cruises, and resort stays, as well as National Geographic trips, and I am CLIAA certified) my ultimate goal is to become an Autism Certified agent. If anyone is interested in my services they are free to you so follow my business page to see what else I have been up to! https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100089588312679

I’m gonna rock a lot of worlds with this post, but I have to say it…. Whole Body Listening is NOT best for all kids- some kids NEED movement and sensory input in order to learn. These kids are also taught to ignore and suppress their body’s needs (which isn’t fair or possible for all) and often internalize that they are the “bad” kid because of this.

My baby girl didn't have the best start to her second year at college yesterday. I'm so proud of her, that she could speak about it to help others understand and feel less alone ❤
First day back at college was a lot. By Sophie James
Very overwhelming, with lots of new comers, lots of anxiety over first lessons back and a teacher told me off for having the wrong lanyard.
I ended up having a meltdown (in the middle of a room full of people). Tears and tears, staring faces and Joel trying to get me to stand up and take me into another room.
Sometimes meltdowns are like an internal dialogue between me and myself, so I can't hear what anyone else is saying - I'm just hearing my own voice saying "AH I DON'T LIKE THIS!"
Joel ended up getting me into another room where I sat down and cried more, finally I called my parents who told me go ask for help. So, I asked for a teacher at student support and they helped me calm down and gave me the correct lanyard. I felt a lot better.
It wasn't a great day, I struggled a lot; but most of all, I struggled with a lot of self doubt. A lot of thinking I can't do something or somehow something will go wrong and I HATE being told off. So when something did go wrong, everything felt wrong. Sometimes, it's like a train of bad thoughts - one will start and then others will begin to follow making me overly worried all the time.
I think I'm in some need of Mindfulness and I'm starting today☺️

This is huge for E! He has always had such a difficult time interacting appropriately with pets. For some reason it’s been different with these guys! They are special ❤️

What is deschooling? Here is a great article!

Deschooling gives you permission to let go of how you've always thought learning had to be and explore unexpected, outside-the-box ways of learning.

Autism rule number one million something ....just because your child watches the Tweetsie Railroad Train on YouTube 6-8 hours a day, 7 days a week doesn’t mean he is ready to ride the Tweetsie train. Elijah has been obsessed with trains for a while, and also afraid of them. We haven’t been able to do Dollywood with him in a while, because of their train.
We thought he was ready, he even thought he was ready. We planned a ride on the Tweetsie Train for Elijah. He anticipated this for weeks. He was so excited. He made it to the “station” area and he just couldn’t handle it. It was too much. It was all too much, the people, the noise, and the big loud train with its loud whistle. I rode the train with Alex. I was sad, I feel like Autism won the battle today. But, we keep fighting, one day Elijah will get his train ride, if that is what he wants to do! We will keep working on it!

We love trains, playing pretend with food, video games, board games, painting, looking at the moon, playing with our cousins, babies, pets, and we have a new kitten! We have had a very laid back December here! Things will be getting busy soon though! School will be back in session, and mom will be working from home full time with the VDH after a week of on site training! 2021 is going to start off very busy for our little school!
