Either the American pressure worked or military logic worked for a change. As things currently stand there is a great potential that the Israeli response damaged Iran's defensive and offensive capabilities, but without dragging us into a certain war of attrition, which is not within the scope of Israel's security and national interests.

A "closing response" and not an "opening response" is what Israel needs, and if things progress this way, we can return to the most important thing that the Israeli government refuses to deal with: the hostage release deal.

This morning, those of us in the north of Israel were woken by a missile-like alert that turned out to be "an earthquake warning."

That was the first time I've ever seen that, despite my researching earthquakes for decades! But we didn't feel an earthquake.

It turns out that a huge explosion of Hezbullah terror tunnels in Southern Lebanon that triggered our warnings.

But if we actually had a major earthquake (and we're decades overdue for a 7.5), our current Home Front Command instructions might kill more of us than in any war. I've been fighting to return Israel to the most accepted instructions from the most earthquake-active countries and states in the world: DROP, COVER, and HOLD!

I've warned for years that should the biggie come during a war, it could threated our national security and kill thousands more than the general threat because we wouldn't have the "manpower" to deal with all our falling buildings, while we're fighting on many fronts...and here we are.

Yehuda Beinin, a member of the Forum of Israeli Peace NGOs steering committee and father of released Israeli hostage from Gaza, Liat Beinin Atzili, appeared on WFSB (channel 3) TV in Hartford–New Haven (an affiliate of CBS) to tell about Liat's abduction.

Jerry Fischer, a cousin of the Beinins and former leader of the Eastern Connecticut Jewish Federation, recalled the first two days of the war and how he brought her abduction to the attention and care of the State Department for her release. Liat was released in the agreement of November, 2023, after 54 days in Hamas captivity. The day after her release, she was notified of the death and abduction of her husband's body to Gaza. Aviv and Liat Atzili are from Kibbutz Nir Oz.
Jerry is currently representative of the Forum of Israeli Peace NGOs in the United States.

Jerry also expressed the urgency in getting a ceasefire that will enable the return of all remaining 101 hostages.

A 3-Weeks Plan is already in the hands of the Israeli Prime Minister, the American Administration, the Egyptian negotiation partners, and the Hamas leadership (who has already accepted the plan). The plan was developed by Dr. Gershon Baskin (also the architect of the Israeli-Hamas agreement that released Israeli POW Gilad Shalit).
The plan implements a 5-year cease fire and stipulates that Hamas will relinquish all power in Gaza for a civilian and technocratic administration for two years.

Please learn about the plan (attached here as an image) to help push it by the Biden Administration, the Israeli Prime Minister, and whoever can help in accepting it! It is extremely urgent!

This is the link to the recorded 1-hour podcast episode in which I spoke about Gershon Baskin's 3-Weeks Plan (at 25:00) and our Forum of Israeli Peace NGOs (at 32:00).

Please note that Professor Gallagher (my interviewer) is Progressive and directs his podcasts to a Progressive audience.

This is not a mainstream network, station, or audience. Therefore, my discourse is adapted accordingly.
But when he disagreed with my direction on a few issues, I tried to break them down to a level where I proved that we actually do agree.

One example is when he claimed that pro-Palestinians say this or that. That's when I "pulled the rabbit out of my hat" and used my mantra that claims that "to be actually pro-Palestinian, one must also pro-Israeli, because neither side will leave and neither side will up and leave." That was very convincing and uplifting for Bill to hear, and hopefully convinced listeners of good will and loving care for all humanity.

Our daughter was coming up to our home in the north of Israel the other morning, after staying with a friend in the Tel Aviv area during the Islamic Republic of Iran's launch of 181 missiles at Israel. It put 2/3rds of the country's civilians (ALL civilians; citizens, Jews, Muslims, Christians, Druze...and soldiers) into shelters or doing the best they could to stay alive. It was a good decision to stay with her friend.

She was about to drive north on that night when the Home Front Command warned EVERYONE in the country to remain near safe shelters because the Iranian army would attack us in the following 12 hours.

She still thought she could up to be with us and started out the door. THAT's when all the sirens in the country (except in the Western Galilee) started screaming for us to go into our shelters! She turned around and went into the family's safe room and spent the night there.

So, as I started to tell you, she started up the coast to come to us the next morning.

She got to the northern suburbs of Haifa, 7 miles south of us, when sirens went off again, this time because of incoming missiles from Hezbullah in Lebanon! She immediately pulled over, shut off the care, and rushed under a bridge for cover. She called me in a panic attack as interceptions were exploding over her head.

Surviving, she got back in her car to find THIS song on her music player: DON'T PANIC, by Coldplay!

Whoa! Coincidence? (She made it home safely, only to go into our safe room a few more times before she drove back home. Hezbollah launched over 100 rockets from Lebanon into Israel by 3 p.m. today.)

I have changed my profile picture to bring awareness that this war is finishing its 363rd day since Hamas and Islamic Jihad expolded through our fence with Gaza.

For 363 days, Israelis in the south and middle of our country, and the people of Gaza have been suffering a horrific cost that countinues today. All of the peaceful civilian communities along that fence that were attacked on the Gaza envelope still remain vacated and greatly destroyed from the original 2-day attack. Of the 250 hostages taken from within Israel (who were not just Jews, but Muslim and Christian Israelis, visitors from various countries, and foreign workers from Nepal, Thailand, Philippines, and Russia, among others), 101 of them remain in captivity...363 days later.

For 362 of those days, since Hezbullah joined the extremist attack on Israel from Lebanon. Although they are not a Palestinian group, Hezbullah is also an Iranian backed force; in fact it's the MAIN force of the Islamic Republic of Iran. So, it had to join in, and it did so by simply firing ground-to-ground missiles by the hundreds per day. And it then added the use of anti-tank missiles to destory civilian houses and vehicles within eyesight from southern Lebanon. 80% of the homes in some rural communities have been destroyed, while between 60 — 80,000 Israelis are refugees in our own country.

363 days later, nearly a million Gazans are still stuck in their flowing suffering, never being sure where they can be safe, far from where their homes once stood. Many are suffering disease and from unavailable medical care.

Many of our sons and daughters who serve in the IDF reserves are either still called up after 363 days, or returning for a third or fourth stint at war.

So, 363 is only a number. But it represents SO MUCH to so many.
Sadly, it's so close to the unfathomable 365 one year mark.

The only people who might see this number with pleasure are the radicals on both sides.

Learn about and support Gershon Baskin's 3-Weeks Plan to end all the belligerence and attacks, bring all our hostages back while releasing many Palestinian prisoners, and enable civilians on all sides of our borders to begin rebuilding their homes and their lives.

Support our Forum of Israeli Peace NGOs (פורום ארגוני השלום Peace NGO's Forum) to offer a peaceful alternative to war, which we all know will not end in a victory of either side. It will end in a negotiated settlement. So, help us move to those negotiations now.

The IDF is attacking launch sites in Lebanon as I type since they just identified them preparing to launch a huge attack on Israel. The IDF spokesman is announcing it now. Things are real tense.

From Haifa north, all unnecessary activities (schools, gatherings, etc.) are being postponed or cancelled for tonight and tomorrow, and till further notice. The following article is from a half hour ago.

Our safe room is ready with the TV on and steel window locked tight.

I don't envy parents with young kids tonight. (It's 8:55 pm here now.) And that goes for parents and kids on both sides of the border.
"War is not healthy for children and other living things."

It might be a very long night...or longer.

The Hashomer Hatzair movement is shocked and pained by the death of the late Agam Naim, a fighter and paramedic in the 52nd Battalion of the Iron Footprints (401). She was the first woman soldier killed in combat in Gaza.

Agam, daughter of Dorit and Dodi, sister to Peleg and Yuval, was killed Wednesday night in an explosion in a building in Rafah, 20 years old in her passing. Along with her, Capt. Daniel Maimon Tuaf, Sgt. Amit Bachari and Sgt. Dotan Shimon Zikram also fell; may their memories be a blessing.

Agam, a daughter of Kibbutz Mishmarot, graduated from the Mevo'ot Iron educational institution in Kibbutz Ein Shemer. She took part in the movement activity in the Ma'ayan Beken group.

Throughout the years of her apprenticeship, she was a leader and was even the coordinator of a young year group in the Ken (club).

Agam was a wonderful instructor, responsible and leading. Continuing her journey as a sophomore at Edenim boarding school and receiving a summons to the paramedic course and finally graduating with honors, did not surprise us at all. Agam always aspired to contribute to society and those around her.

Mourning her fall, embracing her family, her friends, the team of instructors and the management at the Mevo'ot Iron Mossad (high school).

The funeral will take place Thursday at 17:00 in the military section of the Kibbutz Mishmarot cemetery.

May her memory be blessed.

200 launches today into Israel by Hezbullah!

On the panel discussions in TV studios, military commentators related to Israel's going to a full-scale war in Lebanon without American permision/participation.

Then, we heard the typical Israeli knee-jerk reaction of being leary of a Democratic Party reaction — as if most Democrats are anti Isaeli already.

We have to end that way of thinking quickly, before the November 5 election.

The Squad (who are considered dangerous radicals and are used to paint the rest of the party anti Israeli) are only 9 Congress men and women. THAT'S ONLY 4% OF ALL DEMOCRATIC MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE!

And they are not as "anti Israeli" as the right would have you believe. Most oppose the policices of the current Israeli government, as do a majority of Israelis.

Netanyahu's radicals (Ben Gvir and Smotrich) are 21% of the Israeli government coalition! And they're running the government.

Get a grip, Israelis! Panel commentators especially...!

WE HAVE A LOT MORE DANGEROUS POLITICIANS in our government than American Democrats have in their party.

I, an Israeli of American origin, have an unusual request of all American Jews who attend a temple, synagogue, or are close to a rabbi of any branch of Judaism. And you might ask, "But Moshe, you're not a 'religious Jew.' Why would you ask something of us?" and you'd be correct.

My request actually comes from the late Rabbi Michael Lerner, z"l who passed away on August 28. It comes in a letter that Rabbi Michael asked me and us to write to all American rabbis and to others who will pass it on to rabbis...we need Tikkun Olam, and now.

He made his request in our Israeli-Palestinian Peace Symposium #2, streamed live on YouTube on July 26, 2021. Please watch and hear him with the link, below.

Yet only now, after his passing, am I rising to the task/request. I've neglected Michael's request one horrific war too long.

So, please read my PDF letter and pass it on to your rabbi, to your relative's rabbi, to your friend's rabbi, to your friends' rabbis...and take this seriously. It's very important; more than ever!

Without your assistance, we will not be able to have the necessary effect that Rabbi Lerner desired, across the United States; throughout the Jewish Community.

I'm a Progressive Israeli fighting my government and it's horrific policies that fuel our war with Hamas (that has killed thousands too many of non-Hamas civilians, while trying to defend everyone in Israel — not just Jews or Israelis — from another terrorist invasion like that of Oct. 7th, 2023). I have been a political, social, and environmental activist for decades.

A friend of mine in California reminded me of some facts that we all must remember and recognize as an ugly part of American history, and are unknown and yet to be recognized about Israel today. To understand this properly, we must first be able to understand the divide between the Israeli government and the huge majority of decent Israelis.

I was an American conscientious objector (from LA) to the War in Indo-China in the 1970s. And here's an aspect we all missed...because I don't think that even the most progressive of us at the time even considered the following.

* Did the USA send humanitarian aid to Japanese children when we were firebombing their cities in 1945? — Nope!
* Did the USA send humanitarian aid to German children when we were firebombing their cities in WW2? — Nope!
* Did the USA care to provide humanitarian aid to the Vietnamese that we were burning with na**lm? — Nope!

Those of us in the Opposition in Israel to the racist, fascistic, theocratic, and autocratic Netanyahu government and to the ongoing war, the ongoing holding of 101 more hostages dead and alive in Gaza by Hamas and Islamic Jihad, support providing humanitarian aid of all kinds to Gaza.

On Tuesday, COGAT, an Israeli defense ministry agency tasked with coordinating aid deliveries into Palestinian territories, said since the onset of the war, it has facilitated the entry of 282,126 vials of the polio vaccine, enough for 2,821,260 people.

In addition, many Israeli civilian (mostly Left or Progressive Jewish, non-Jewish, and mixed NGOs) have been gathering food, sanitation, hygienic, and other goods for transporting into Gaza for months.

These facts (about the shame on past America, and pride in the good Israel does in Gaza) must be understood, recognized, and propagated to all who seek justice and good, over injustice and evil.

And we, Progressives around the world, must lead our peoples to be aware of all that happens...not just what our media providers present to us: CNN, Al Jazeera, BBC, France24, etc.

We must push what good we can, especially when our own government is on an evil path.

(BTW, I was at that enormous demo in the photo on Sunday night in Tel Aviv with over 550,000 people to immediately stop the war, release all hostages, and enable all people on all sides to begin to rebuild their lives...and move on to end the conflict.)
