I'm so excited to share I will be one of 10 speakers at this year's event.

My "audacious idea?" - White Men and DE&I - It's On Us!

I'm using my platform to invite white men and help them recognize that DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) is not just about others but about ourselves and the world we all share. As part of the "Majority Group," those who hold the majority of power in the U.S., we have the power and privilege to accelerate change, and with that comes the responsibility to evaluate and enhance our role in creating a fairer and inclusive world.

You can get your tickets here if you want to attend in person or virtually.

This post is for all those working hard to create environments of inclusion, fairness, and belonging to drive collective success. I know it can seem like the status quo is solid and the "anti-DEI" movement is getting stronger, but your efforts are making a difference!

I’m contemplating a Podcast refresh. So naturally, I turn to my late podcast partner, Clayton Sinclair, for inspiration. I miss him and think I may be ready to continue bold conversations like those we used to have. Conversations that helped raise awareness about so many differences and challenged us and others to be the change we wish to see in the world. To stay committed as allies for positive change.

What do you think?

Cheers, my Brother!

Go see The Color Purple. I was blown away by the story and the visual emotions it evoked throughout. I've never experienced a movie like this before.

Power, resilience, hope, perseverance, redemption, forgiveness, triumph, joy, beauty, love...centering the lives of Black women.

"I'm gonna hold my head up, I'm gonna put my shoulders back, and look you straight in the eye...with all the love alive in me, I'll stand as tall as the tallest tree...I'm thankful for loving who I really am...Yes, I'm beautiful, and I'm HERE." Celie (sung by Fantasia).

It’s Clayton’s heavenly birthday. I’m sharing this video for you to to spend some time with him to see his face, hear his laughs, and feel his presence. I miss him, and glad I have this to remind me of my brother.

I’m off to Alabama for work and exploring several sites on the Civil Rights Trail. Montgomery, Selma, and Birmingham.

The visceral feelings of learning more about the racist policies and actions of many who were fearful, angry, and hateful. The individual white teenage boy who could intimidate and push around an older Black man with zero consequences. The white folks enjoying a picnic as they lynched Black woman Representatives of the state, the police, on horseback, pushing peaceful protesters to the ground or using fire hoses and dogs to beat down the rights of citizens’ free speech and freedom. The segregationist governor defying federal law by spewing, “segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever!”

Old history? My parents were about my kids' age while all this was happening.

And isn’t it something that free speech, and freedom, is under attack again 60 years later? The same people, same actions, same impact.

This is the guy I would text and talk to help process all the hate and inequities going on in our country. Whether it be race, gender identity, or any other area where there is divisive rhetoric and harmful laws being passed, we would spend time discussing on our Bourbon, Beer, and Bold Conversations.

I miss you, Brother Clayton Sinclair.

Hello dear listeners.

My podcast partner, Clayton Sinclair III, died about 30 days ago. I'm still processing this loss, as many are.

Since this is happening within Mental Health Awareness Month, this episode is about losing someone close and the mental illness that can arise. I'm sharing my story hoping that others who struggle with grief and perhaps depression might benefit somehow.

To our podcast family.

I'm devasted to share this news. Clayton passed unexpectedly yesterday.

Rest in Power, my Brother Clayton Sinclair.
May your abundant love carry Nicole and Clay through their terrible loss.

It was a privilege and honor to be your podcast partner for almost 50 episodes. How fortunate I and others, are to have been exposed to your truth! We reached 13 countries and half the U.S. So many people were influenced by your authenticity and joy. What a ride.

I miss you deeply. And the world will miss a champion for Inclusion. Just as we ended each episode...”I love you, Brother.”

We're walking, yes indeed, we're talking…DE&I strategy and misalignment to actions and outcomes. Many companies "talk" DE&I but often come up short with the "walking."

Have you noticed this as well? What contributes to this?

Why do so many companies pledge to support these efforts while failing to take enough sustainable action? In this episode of the Beer, Bourbon, and Bold Conversations podcast, Sean and Clayton talk to Charity Hughes, an HR super professional, who illuminates the root causes of this misalignment and what companies can do about it.

We appreciate you listening and supporting us. Please check it out, like, and follow.
