Self-Care for Living is a podcast that uses research in psychology and philosophy to translate the science of well-being into actionable self-care practices. With a mix of wit and personal experiences, host Hailley dives into why and how self-care can help us build a life worth living.

In this episode we discuss the definitions of self-care, wellness, and well-being. We break down why self-care isn’t selfish and where the idea that it is comes from.

What would it be like to live a life you didn't want to escape from?

Self-Care for Living is an initiative that was created to inspire the pursuit of a good life through self-care. We hear so much about these days, but what is it really and how can it help us with our mental health and well-being?

Our podcast and blog use research in psychology and insights from philosophy to translate actionable advice into good habits and practices for a life well-lived, because living well doesn’t have to be a struggle. Self-care, which is the actions we take to maintain and improve our well-being, can help us create the kind of life that we are happy to wake up to each morning.

Over time, these intentional, deliberate actions can help us reduce our symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress, and can improve our perceptions about the quality of our lives. As great as self-care is, much of the advice that exists today isn't made with mental illness in mind. Self-Care for Living is changing the conversation about self-care to reflect the struggles that can come with having a mental illness and what it really takes to build a life worth living.

Follow us for new episodes or blog posts every self-care Sunday and stay tuned for the launch of our podcast on July 24th to celebrate International Self-Care Day!
