I found this photo in a group I am in...

I love how this passage here entices the imagination, provokes the desire to be outside enjoy the simpler things around us.

It's one of many reasons we love living books in our home, and try hard to w**d out the twaddle.

But, I was thinking the other day about how twaddle can be so much more than just the books we choose. But, in general what we set out eyes on.

While we prefer Charlotte Mason in our home (I know not everyone's cup of tea) its more than just a curriculum style, it's a life style. That life style can be adapted no matter the learning style that works best for your child.

What shows, games, apps, activities are we setting our eyes on? Because what we set our eyes on.. is what we set our minds on.. and our minds should be set on things above, not on the things of this world. (Col 3:2).

Take time today to enjoy the outdoors, soak in God's creation.. even if only through a window. Enjoy the backyard birds, the squirrels, whatever creation God sends your way today. Consider with your children what life must be like for them. Discuss how God cares for them, and how much more He cares for us. All of creation proclaims His name!

Today in the reading of the new testament in a year plan, we are on Matthew 2. In this chapter starting in verse 13 is the Flight to Egypt. When King Harod sent for all the male children in Bethlehem (2 years and under) to be killed. An angel appeared to Jospeh and warned them to flee. So they Fled to Egypt.

If your doing this reading with your kiddos, and want to incorporate an art appreciation..
This painting is hung in the Toledo museum of Art in Ohio. Some of you may be near there and can go and enjoy this piece in person, if you are not, here is a replica I found online.

This was painted by an Italian painter named Jacopo Bassano and he lived from 1510 to 1592. He named this piece "Flight to Egypt".

Working on the scripture writing challenge! :) The Word we have chosen to dwell on this month is repentance.

Acts 3:19

Repent therefore, turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.

This is such a short verse, but the context of this verse is profound. Peter and John had just healed a man, and the crowd was astounded. They used the opportunity not for monetary gain or to boast of themselves, but to share the gospel!

Peter held nothing back, explaining to the Jewish people what they had done by demanding the crucifixion of their long-awaited Messiah. He convicts and comforts all at the same time. First conviction... you demanded the crucifixion of our God, then explains that it was prophesied to happen. That it needed to happen, for the forgiveness of sin. Then, he explains that they must repent.

Of Christ can forgive the very people who called out, "crucify!! crucify!! crucify!!" He is able to forgive us of our sins as well.

As the verse we write suggests.. we must also turn back and turn away from the sin. Apologizing is not enough. Repentance leaves us changed. Once we have turned away from our sin and sought after Christ, then our sins are then blotted out.

Verse 20 goes on to say,

"That times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord."

Once we have repented and turned from our sin.. we receive the blessing of being refreshed by christ, we can be in his presence.

What better place could there be?
