Treat Yo Health, and treat every facet of your life.
I aspire to one day teach my kids like this. Teaching young black men, and young men in general, to use their words to accurately express a full array of emotions and teaching that REAL men have all the emotions and REAL men know how to process them.
That’s something many of us struggle with as grown men because we’re never taught to or are allowed to be emotionally dynamic people. “Be a man, shake it off, stop crying, don’t be a bitch...” this list of false, invalidating, toxic and harmful rhetoric goes on. That’s why there’s so much self hate, sadness, loneliness, internal and external violence among men. We aren’t given the space to understand ourselves and process feelings in a healthy way.
We really need to start normalizing discussions among men about emotions and giving us the vocabulary and space to fully express ourselves. It’ll lead to healthier men, relationships, families, communities, and country.

This poem, video, and message are just beautiful. There’s a lot to work on and go through, and it’s EXTREMELY hard to feel positive about any of this right now, but if we allow it, 2020 could be the beginning of a whole new era for us. @probablytomfoolery thank you for this beautiful story.

Journaling is a powerful tool for you to THINK about your life and be more INTENTIONAL about your moves. Every morning in our routine I pose a question or share a quote to get us thinking more intentionally about how we think and do.
Today’s question is meant to get you thinking about what you’re putting in your body and if it’s making you stronger or weaker. Do Twinkie's make you stronger or weaker? Does drinking more water make you more resistant or more susceptible? Does less screen time improve your life or detract from it?
We go on auto pilot so much that we forget to pay attention to what we’re putting in our bodies and minds. Then we wonder why we feel like trash and try to fix it by putting in more trash.
Use this thought to look at and potentially change your habits this week, a little bit of of good can go a long way.
This is a guided meditation with a ton of prompts that help guide you through the time. Just sit and listen, it’s pretty simple and you feel great by the end. A little bit of mindfulness practice can go a long way in calming anxiety and helping you feel more intentful.
Moving, mindfulness, thinking and practicing good habits, ALL IN ONE HOUR! Such a POWERFUL way to start your day. 🤯

I did a GREAT @headspace #meditation on #creativity this morning about using the skill of mindfulness to allow us to get out of our own way and let creativity ideas and solutions to come into us and flow through us.
“I don’t think we make much happen when it comes to creativity. We’re just antennas + transistors” - Pharrell in his interview with Rick Ruben
You can’t help ANYBODY if you don’t have your sh*t together. Mental health isn’t just for troubled people, it’s for people living in a world that’s unhealthy, chaotic, turned upside down and stressful. It’s immensely helpful for us to have routines, habits and skills that help us maintain our peace and clarity in times of chaos.
Physical movement, meditation, journaling and working on enriching projects are all positive, simple, effective, long lasting ways to positively affect your personal well being. They’ll benefit your perspective on life, your view of your situation, your sense of agency and feeling in control, and will make you feel proud of yourself for doing something positive for yourself. Not to mention the physical effects of movement and meditation can have on your brain chemistry.
Every morning at from 7-9am I will be on my IG live leading powerful sessions of self care to help us all through this time. We can feel very alone in this but just turn on your phone and I’ll be here with you. No rants about the state of the world, just you, me, and our gang treating our health. All love.
