20-year flashback to the solo live recording of 29 Pieces for the Microtonal Guitar Live at Knitting Factory New York (then located at Leonard St. Downtown NY). This in turn 10 years after meeting Joe Maneri (in 1992) and consequently getting my mind forever altered in his microtonal class at New England Conservatory. So, all in all, really a 30-year flashback of sorts. The 20th anniversary release is not a re-mix/edit/master; Jason Tubbs (Knitmedia), and Greg Thompson (Kampo Audio) already made a masterful job that stands the test of time. But a re-issue, as the first pressing is since long sold out. It is also accompanied by additional documentation, in both audio and published text form, to be announced later this fall. Meanwhile thanks again to everyone who contributed, came to the concerts (solo, and later ensemble developments thereof), shared or arranged the events, or wrote about the music: Barry Cleveland in Guitar Player, John Kelman in All About Jazz, and Jazz Views (UK), Larry Cosentino in Signal to Noise, Don Williamson in Jazz Review, Grego Applegate Edwards in Cadence, Kenneth Egbert in Jazz Now, and Alekos Pandelis in Altrisuoni (Italy), and Hank Shteamer, who featured countless subsequent solo or group live events in Time Out NY (Including recommending my May 21, 2006 concert at ABC No Rio over Alan Holdsworth's hit at Iridium the same night; that is the spirit of NEW YORK right there, dig!). The (original) album is available on Amazon (a few CDs still in orbit). Digital album at Amazon, iTunes, Bandcamp+others.
