The recent The Swan Sunday Showcase in Chertsey was a special fundraiser event for the JTB Scholarship fund and raised over £1200! Other local events, Black Cherry Fair and RPE Surrey West’s End of Term Gig also had a collection bucket and brought in more generous donations. Many thanks to Brian O’Connell and Lindsey Ayley for encouraging the donations!

In the last almost 3 years, the JTB Scholarship Fund has provided education to 6 children, as well as passing on instruments that have kindly been donated. We helped support 2 people during lockdown, allowing them to continue their learning and we are just coming to the end of the academic year where we have provided education to 3 young people who wouldn’t have had the opportunity otherwise. Your generous contributions have made such a difference to those people’s lives; thank you to everyone for your ongoing support.

A year on from our launch, £1000 has been donated which has allowed us to fund 2 students and provide instruments to those who needed it. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped give the opportunity to those who wouldn’t have had it otherwise. As a new academic year begins, we hope to help others through continued fundraising. Happy birthday to our namesake.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED

The aim of the JTB Scholarship Fund is to provide music education to people who would benefit from the experience but whose circumstances don’t easily facilitate it.

BENEFICIARIES OF THE SCHOLARSHIP

We welcome applications for any child between the ages of 7-18, with or without any previous musical experience. We ask for a little explanation of their background and how this environment could have a positive impact in their lives. Whilst we would love to get everyone involved, our current funding / donation structure facilitates only 1 student per academic year. All applications will be considered and reviewed by the team.

To make an application or for more information, please email [email protected]

DONATIONS

We are eternally grateful for all contributions received and are fully committed to raising as much as possible to help benefit as many people as we can.

ABOUT THE JTB SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The JTB Scholarship Fund provides students who would not otherwise have the means with an opportunity to study music at The Rock Project Surrey.

Successful applicants will have the fees for an entire year’s tuition paid, and will have access to instruments, like-minded musicians and performance opportunities.

The weekly 2-hour classes run at various locations throughout Surrey. Students who receive a scholarship will welcome at any of the Surrey Rock Project schools.

The JTB Scholarship Fund was established after the passing of its namesake, Julian Turner Bell. A well-known figure in the music industry, he came to teaching later in life and finally found an outlet for the vast wealth of knowledge and experience he’d amassed during his years working in the business.

His sudden passing in June 2019 was a devastating loss to so many. The hope of the JTB Scholarship Fund is to continue his quest to educate, inspire and empower future generations.
